Sure helps when your offense averages scoring 2.7 runs more per 9 innings.

I hope Kluber hangs in there.

Kluber with a nice outing (9IP, 7K, 5H, 2BB, 0R)

That makes us 5-0 against the Tigers this season. How did Minnesota take 2 of 3 last week? Ugh.

Back to .500

Kluber did have a nice outing. He was able to get out of a coulee of jams early on before settling down.

A series sweep would be great. Still bummed over losing 5 of 6 to the Twins and Philly.

Now, back to the Cavs game!

Kluber finally figured it out.

Its worth noting that Tomlin pitched against Tigers twice within an 11 day span, and held them to 3 runs total in those two outings. Impressive - that's a good hitting lineup - and he was just as effective the second time around.

Another sweep of Detroit! Brantley had a game tonight. 4-5 at the plate and a great catch in left to end any momentum the Tigers may have been building.

Napoli absolutely crushed that HR. The crack the bat makes on a perfectly hit ball is a thing of beauty.

Video and audio of the HR. Napoli HR

The Tribe needs to build on this and take 2 out of 3 from the Royals in the weekend series.

This offensive production rocks! We've got 3 guys batting over .300 (Naquin, Ramirez, and Lindor), and the rest of the lineup is hovering around .240-.280. Not just home runs, but solid hitting. I like how sustainable this can be, and some guys will get onto hot streaks.

I still think the Dolans should sell the team tongue

Hmm…

Interesting. I have so much faith in Francona, that this could be a “character building” move (the demotion of Naquin).

I’ll bet Francona gave Naquin a list of expectations (to work on and show improvement while in AAA).

Let’s see if he exceeds expectations. If Naquin doesn’t flourish in AAA right now, he wasn’t ready for the bigs.

They want more with his fielding, and the strikeouts concerned some. I expect him to be back up two weeks at the latest.

Sounds like Naquin was sent down to make a roster spot for Cody Anderson to make a start. I believe Naquin has 3 or so options left.

He should be back up soon.

Tribe lost but the baseball day wasn't all bad. Bartolo Colon went yard for the first time in his career. Awesome.

All The Little Cowboy (Tomlin's nickname) does is win.

Last year he won 7 out of 10 starts.

5 out of 6 on the home stand from DET and KC is an excellent rebound from the missed opportunity with the Twins and Phils.

I'd like to see them take 4 of their next 6 between the Astros and Twins. Twins have been a thorn lately.

Yes, so far so good.

I guess I'm being like one of those greedy fans (of winning teams) when I say, I'd like to see the Tribe start winning some of those road trip series.

Sometimes I think us Cleveland fans are too nice. We need to toughen-up: "Come on Tribe, rip their lungs out and stomp and spit on them!"

That'll scare 'em.

Last night sure was tantalizing.

Picture this: Bauer makes a huge leap forward.

Pitches another 180 innings this year.
ERA below 4.00.
15 more wins.

Now imagine him fitting into the rotation like this:

Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar, Bauer, and Tomlin.

Man, that's scary stuff right there. (as long as we keep everyone healthy) *knocking on my wooden head*

I like Anderson, for the future. He looked really good when he came back up late last year, but he needs to work on being consistently consistent. He still has too many ups and downs.

Kluber has been a hard luck kid so far, and is 2-4.
Carrasco is 2-0
Salazar is 3-2, but carries a 1.91 ERA.
Bauer is 3-0
Tomlin is 5-0

So these 5 starters are a combined 15-6 so far. That ain't bad. wink

I'd throw Anderson in long relief and say goodbye to Zach McAllister. Although I must say, McAllister is pitching unusually well so far.

Another thing to consider if Bauer continues to pitch well... do we dangle Bauer out there as trade bait to pick up another bat if this team is in it near he trade deadline and Carrasco is back to form?

I wouldn't hit the eject button on McAllister in favor o Anderson. The way Anderson has pitched he's the last guy I want in long relief. He needs more time in AAA.

I could see Ben Heller, currently in Akron, given a shot in the bullpen at some pint this ear.

If Bauer keeps pitching the way he is and we're in contention at the trade deadline, I still don't move hime for a bat. Great pitching is huge in the postseason.

If Carrasco is still out for awhile, I'd like to see the Tribe give Clevinger a spot start.

The good news this week, is we skip Anderson's start in the rotation with the off day Thursday.

I mention a possible trade only because we have seen these type of performances from Bauer before...it's just that he is so inconsistent. If Bauer is on a high note and we could leverage value, I'd consider it. I'm not saying it's something I definitely want to do...just thinking about is all.

And if the team were in a position to make the playoffs, we'd only really need three starters anyways...Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar.

Bauer mentioned that he is consciously working to pitch faster this year. He had a tendency to over think things on the mound, IMHO. That seems to be gone this year. If he stays on the track he's on, he can be as big a winner as anyone else on this roster.

I still can't believe that Tomlin has started out 5-0. shocked

Brantley returns to the DL, retroactive to 5/10. Looks like they brought him back too quickly.

It's starting to look like Brantley will always "be brought back too soon".

I read that the Indians long-term plan is to move Brantley to 1B. Zimmerman and Frazier, both CF who could play corner OF should be ready in the next year or so. In the mean time, Jose Ramirez will have to do. He's done well so far.

Michael Martinez?

Played right field for the Tribe today.

How is he even in the big leagues?
