Wow! A run on OT's before the CB's start to fall. I pass on Conklin unless he can also play LT...

I smell something........... There is a little bit of smoke. Also, to be fair, we have been discussing the #2 pick for most of the time. Conklin's name should have never come up in those discussions.

Thanks...........I just hope the Browns are not that dumb.
I've been encouraged by the RGIII signing and the trade. I really hope they don't blow this draft by making dumb-ass picks like that one.
The Browns need IMPACT players. Not "guys."

The only thing to make this better would be to trade up and get Cook or have Denver pass on him so we can take him at the top of the 2nd.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

J/C: I don't think Conklin is a player we should take a #8. First, he is not even close to grading out as high as some that were not picked in that first post's scenario. I think if we stay at #8 then we have to get an impact play maker, not a grinder grunt type of player. With that said, if the team wants to get an offensive lineman then I think it would be best to trade down a few spots, if possible, and then pick someone up while getting additional picks. I mean, can we afford to lose out on a play maker like Treadwell if he is on the board? I wouldn't think so.

In Pastor's draft why would you trade up to get Cook when he wasn't taken until #31? If you want Cook just stay where Pastor had us trade down too and take him there. More than likely Doctson will be available at the top of round 2.

I don't know, man...........Conklin looks like a 20-36 guy to me. I don't think Conklin or Decker are NFL LT's. They'd both be really good RT's though. I'm not sure I'd want either in the 1st round, but some teams might be a RT away from a solid o-line. They have talent, but RT in the first round isn't something I want when we need so much.

I think some of you know I like Spence as an impact player. He could be a guy we get if we trade down again. Here is another guy who scares the crap out of me, but man, he interests me: I think he is most physically gifted defensive lineman in the draft. He could be a Warren Sapp type..........in more ways than one. What do you guys think?

In the bottom half of the 2nd, he may garner attention...

If we are going to take on risk, I'd prefer Spence. They may both be there for us in the 2nd.

Btw 32................did you post on what you would like and dislike on mgh's thread? I guess it's my fault ... I mocked him to us a just after the trade (i was already working on a scenario if we where able to complete the trade with the Eagles) ... Rob Rang jumped on the bus mocking him to us on the 24th ... The rest is history. It has been said that we spent more time at MSU's pro-day, with Conklin, then with Connor Cook. So what you are smelling is not smoke, but rather the fire itself. Meh! I've had that effect on the media for years.

I don't know how accurate that is since I have only seen him play against the likes of Alabama. I think his off field stuff is not worth the risk. I am a little gun shy after Manziel, Gordon and A. Bryant.

I think cfrs's [is that the correct use of the apostrophe, cfrs, or should it come after the last letter in your name?] is pretty darn accurate. I see him going in the mid-teens to mid 20s. He might even go to Detroit at 16.

Okay...........I got one more: Personally, I think he goes higher than that. He is a Larry Donald type. Not the biggest guy [not talking about Donald there], but elite quickness [yes, talking about Donald here.] I could see this guy going in the top 10, easily. What say you?

I'm hoping that isn't us in the 1st round.

I really like him, but given his height, he's not a good fit for a 3-4 DE. You could use him as a role player in the interior. A 4-3 team is going to snap this guy up though.

LOL.......awesome post. Thanx, Ver's With no presidence to referencee with this FO ... all any of us have to go with is the trade ... The trade indicates to me that we are not going to do things as in the past. We have many holes to fill. The Eagles. held the 8th selection, so therefore any trade would have to be contingent on who we thought would be the bpa @ the 8th selection and if we liked a prospect @ that spot. Why will we go bpa? Because that is what trading down should indicate ... to do otherwise would be contrary to reasons for trading down. We could have went for the quick fix @ 2.

I live in SC and I can tell you that I always thought Clowney wasn't going to be worth such a high pick. I have some stories.
I don't think Nkemdiche has the length, sculpted body, and athleticism that Clowney has, but he is pretty darn physically gifted.

We'll see. I am keeping an open mind, but we've traded down before and .....
I know that we can't judge this FO on the past FO's failures, but by the same token, we can't say they will succeed, either.
I think being open minded and judging each move individually is fair.

I think being open minded and judging each move individually is fair. We can blow it right where we are @ #8 right now as well. I honestly wouldn't care if we traded down 2 or 3 more times if we picked the right players. The talent level is there, it's a matter of making smart choices with each pick.
