j/c: Weird story. Just before draft, top prospect Laremy Tunsil sued by stepfather Frank Schwab,Shutdown Corner 22 hours ago Comments Sign in to like Reblog on Tumblr Share Tweet Email Laremy Tunsil (AP)This probably isn't what Laremy Tunsil wanted to be dealing with right before one of the biggest moments of his life. Tunsil, the Ole Miss offensive tackle who could go as high as third overall to the San Diego Chargers in Thursday's NFL draft, was sued again this week by his stepfather Lindsey Miller. Miller claims an “intentional infliction of emotional distress" due to Tunsil allegedly attacking him last June and defaming his character, the Clarion-Ledger reported. The history between Tunsil and Miller isn't pretty. The two sued each other on domestic violence charges last year. Tunsil said Miller attacked his mother, and Miller said Tunsil attacked him unprovoked, according to the Clarion-Ledger. Both sides dropped those charges last August. An arrest report obtained by the Clarion-Ledger said the fight was over Miller warning Tunsil about having contact with agents. The lawsuit said Tunsil's mother and Miller had a heated argument about contact with agents, and Miller alleged that after that argument Tunsil rushed into the house and attacked him. Miller claims that Tunsil fabricated the part about defending his mother to Ole Miss coaches, and Miller says that Tunsil defamed him when he claimed Miller assaulted his wife. The new lawsuit by Miller says he is suing on grounds of “past, present, and future bodily injury, pain & suffering, severe emotional distress, medical costs, damage to reputation, and/or other types of damages that he has incurred (and will likely continue to incur),” the Clarion-Ledger reported. Tunsil was a fantastic college player and became a well-known name when he was given a high-profile seven-game suspension by the NCAA last year for receiving impermissible extra benefits. None of this is likely to affect Tunsil's draft status on Thursday. NFL teams don't care much about impermissible benefits, and the facts of the incident with Miller are disputed. But it's not pleasant story for a player who will hear his name called early in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/blogs/nfl-s...-165834389.html

Not sure if it's Treadwell or Doctson they take in the 1st, but I'm in agreement that they trade down from 8 and take a receiver with the 1st pick.
I suspect we'll take a RT in the second round. That's my wish ... trade back and draft Doctson (my first choice) Definitely don't want us to take Cook in the 2nd ... take any other BPA I don't know enough about Cook to say no to him, but if I had my wish, I'd go OL (RT) in the second round. Unless there is someone that is just the BPA and happens not to be a RT.

I almost expect the Browns to trade back at 8 if Elliott is till on the board and take a WR assuming a trade partner is willing.
Coleman and Doctson being my two favorites with Treadwell not far behind. For me, I want to see one of those guys on the Browns roster after the draft.

My first rd prediction....
The Browns are on the clock tck tck tck. The analytic guys forget the clock is running and don't get the pick in time.

Vers, what do you think of Elliot? You were absolutely right about Richardson predraft. Man, I sure wasn't. I thought he'd be our bellcow for a long time. Anyway, Hue Jackson runs the ball alot. I believe I read it's like 48/52 run pass. If Elliot can be just a really GOOD back it might be worth a look. Our offense can't be one(or non) dimensional again. Just wondered what you thought of the kid? I don't watch OSU too much. Can't stand that clap to hike the ball spread crap. I like QB's under center and doing what a QB is supposed to do. Deliver the ball to others. I am officially old. I don't believe in drafting RBs high. There are so many ways to acquire good RBs and their shelf life is low. However, Zeke is a true 3 down back that isn't just good at all three phases of the position, but excels at them. Similar to a Marshall Faulk in that regard. That's high praise, because even though he is a HOFer, I think Faulk is one of most underrated players of all-time. I agree. If he turns out to be a Faulk kind of player I'd RUN to the podium at 8. That guy could PLAY. Kind of funny, Faulk played on the "Greatest Show" team and Al Saunders was on the staff. That is the offense we will be running..... just saying.

Did you see the "A Football Life" episode about Faulk on NFL Network?
It's pretty crazy that a lot of the guys, including Martz, gave Faulk most of the credit for the success of that offense, which like you said, was called The Greatest Show on Turf.

What is the love affair so many have with trading back over and over? We traded back to 8 but that's not enough. We need to trade back again. Then again. Then yet again. Eventually we won't have any first round talent on the team but we will OWN the fifth round. lol

Yes and he was the sparkplug of that O. A player like that can make offense alot easier. He was such a good back. Great blocker, great runner, awesome catching the ball.... Smart. Didn't fumble alot. He was the epitome of an all around great running back. If Indy didn't trade him I'd bet Peyton would have a couple more rings..... If you're right about Elliot being that kind of player I can see why there are rumors of teams wanting to trade up to get him. Guys like that don't come around very often. Now I want him even more lol

Just remember, outside of RB...rookie individuals do not add a lot of impact to a team the first season.
jmho I've been thinking about a good way to address this and that comment is as good as any. Too many fans expect a high draft pick to make all the difference. Once in a while they do start out making an impact. But I think most of them need some time to adjust.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

I tried to choose my words purposefully "Individuals"
A good draft class can definitely see its affect on the team as it bolsters units and brings on competition and everyones game get lifted up a notch. Add a lot of depth and really now a days so many positions are rotational. I'm waiting for the day OL becomes Rotational...as they and QB are the few that just don't change.

LOL If he was, he would be the guy the Rams moved up for. Wait, that made no sense. They already have Gurly. I just meant that he would be the first pick in the draft. When is the draft?

In an interview with Depo he said he had a dream where there was like 10 seconds left on the clock, we knew from the beginning who we wanted, but hadn't put the pick in yet, and he was screaming get it in, get it in. LOL I hope that is not a premonition!!!

Gave an exam at tOSU this past Monday, and I had an extra credit question on there, asking them to guess how many Buckeyes were going to picked during the 1st round Thursday night. One kid, after handing in the exam, asked me what the correct answer was to that question.

To amend my "things the Browns could do to piss me off" list....draft Conklin. If Bosa/Elliot is there and we draft the guy that Bosa has owned for the past 2 years I will be pissed....but that would be a Browns move no doubt. The way I've heard a few defend Conklin at#8, I had to believe they didn't know this. But it's so true! lol
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

In fact, if we were not such an awful franchise with so many needs, I would have stayed at 2 and picked Zeke..great speed, excellent vision, catches well out of the backfield, tremendous blocker

My prediction is we trade down twice, unless Bosa is at #8, then we take him. I also think that we will trade down twice in the 1st. (and maybe from 32 as well) I have a feeling that teams get calls on each and every pick. I kind of laughed at some of the scenarios on the draft game that someone posted in another thread, but I think that a team has a chance to trade down at almost every pick, if they want to. I think that we are looking to maximize picks from the middle of the 1st to the end of the 3rd, and to add future picks. I predict that we will wind up with at least 8 picks in the top 100.

I haven't started yet. I have a feeling I will need plenty of anesthesia to get me through the night.
With the 8th pick, the Cleveland Browns trade the rights to.....
And on and on and on and on. Let's build a team w/a bunch of average guys. That's the ticket.

I think we trade down from 8 to 13 or 15 for a WR, and then I think we trade up from 32 to ahead of the Broncos to take Connor Cook. Hopefully, we got a #2 from either the Fins or the Titans for the initial trade down.

Man I agree with you there. What the hell is this love affair with trading down again and again? Hell, if trading down is so great lets trade right out of the first altogether. We keep trading down we could OWN the fifth round. We trade down to 8 but that's not enough for some. Nope, we might actually find a GREAT player there. Can't have that. Lets trade down again. Unbelievable.
