I was wondering, after being back on now for about a week or so how this new version got going. What was it's genesis and who were it's founding Fathers and Mothers? <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I give great laudatory kudos to whomever was involved. Well, in the waining days of DT, several of us were discussing starting our own boards because of the rash of problems and lack of features that the Browns Chat had. And had done a little research and found that the so called"unsupported" software DT used, really was still good and supported.

PrpPplEatr then offered to start up a board using the same software as the original DT, and here we are.

This is run by PPL from his servers. Don't know how the refs came to be, but I'm sure Ref_00 is PPL <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The same basic rules apply here as did on DT, with some leeway being that it's private and not a corporate board.

It's PPE's creation.
It began on Sept,9 or 10 I believe.
It was brought about due to an outcry by many of the Dawg Talk posters who did not like the new format and wanted to retain the original Dawg Talk environment. PPE asnwerred the call by providing it for us. Props to him for that. ( as if I haven't said that enough times already)

I will NEVER use my picture in my sig again....or anwhere on the web for that matter. I took down my MYSPACE page because rather than making "friends" all I got was propositioned. I had similiar troubles on the old board as well. Now lets forget about my silly pic and talk as friends do, openly and with mutual respect.
My Sincerest gratitude to Purple and Dawgy and Jules and everyone else who makes this board the funnest place on the web.

Basically, this was the afterbirth of that new monstrosity the Browns created.
I despised, and knew that many others did as well, that new board over there ::points toward Berea::

After talking to a few folks and getting reassured that if I did this, that there'd be enough people to make it worthwhile, I bit the bullet (I was unemployed at the time and setting this up required dropping a few hundred bucks that I really didn't have) and set it up. I set up a quick & dirty test version of the board around Sept. 7th just to make sure I could replicate everything correctly, and the site itself as it currently is was actually born on Sept. 10th.

The rest is history made by everyone who came here to make this place as good as it is, and as good as DTMB ever was (I hope) <img src="/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

I made a comment about someone starting another board copying this one. PPE sent me an email that he was considering it. I am sure I was one of MANY who were encouraging this process. PPE and Lama are the names I remember the most, so I am not a 'father' but more like the distant cousin who only shows up to the family reunions and wins all the raffle prizes.

The Volume isn't quite there yet PPE, but it is WAAAY better as a board.

Once we get enough people "recruited" <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />, this board will have everything DTMB ever did and more. When I first heard you were going to do this, I was all about it!!!


A good gauge to judge how the site has progressed is the smack shaq, when we first started, it was us Browns fans smacking other teams with no response. Wasn't nearly as fun! <img src="/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif" alt="" />

I'm quite sure,at the end,we were all breaking board rules by talking about,assembling and posting about this thing being here and putting it in into existance in the first place.

I'm of the understanding that promoting other message boards on "the official site" is prohibited. They had every right to delete our threads or ban us for the things we were doing.

But I think they understood how we felt and gave us the leadway to openly discuss this and build this "idea" for this board. They were understanding and gracious enough to look the other way so that process could move forward. I know that some who post here have issues with the Refs,or certain refs in paticular,but that's between you and them.

I would like to take the oppertunity to thank them for their understanding at that time and permiting us to sort of organize and discuss doing this in the first place. They certainly didn't have to do that.
