Make sure tires are properly inflated. Never inflate less than 0 PSI or more than 900 PSI unless recommended by the manufacturer

Avoid running the AC and leave windows rolled-up when driving on hot sunny days. The extra compartmental heat will allow more efficient engine temperatures and improved gas mileage.

Remember, If your windshield wipers are on, so should your emergency brake.

If the road ahead is covered with running water, STOP! Back-up, get a full head of steam and allow the car’s forward momentum to get you across. Always steer with the current.

Never leave pets or children unattended in a parked car without leaving the windows open at least ½ inch. And never for more than a couple of hours.

Drive with one eye closed so if you enter a tunnel you can open the closed eye and it will not need to adjust to the dark.

Top off your oil (when low) with water, it's a much better summer coolant.

Adding a pound of sugar to a fresh tank of gas will help you hit the sweet spot with summer milage, getting real bang for your buck.

Put your AC on recirculate and open a can of R-12 refrigerant in the car to avoid leaks while recharging your AC. The recirculation will insure every bit of it get's into your system.

Coating your AC compressor with antiperspirant will keep it from dripping in your parking spot.

Coating your windshield with vaseline will make rain bead up and run off, saving you from replacing your winter blades.

Be sure to loosen your lug nuts a tad to account for heat expansion. I learned that from my uncle Fred, RIP.

Replace the coolant with Gatoraide. Electrolytes is what the car needs in the summer.

Because of heat expansion, be sure and loosen the connection to your break lines to stop the break fluid from backing up and leaking out of the master cylinder.

15. Learn how to operate, text and play games with your cellphone left-handed while driving.

16. Driving cross-country over-night is the perfect time to practice self-hypnosis.

17. Use a spill-proof cooley cup for drinking expensive bourbons.

18. Listen to soothing, slow, melodic violin instrumentals while driving overnight.

If you see a child in a car alone on a very hot day, you should call the police if you don't see the parent from where you are sitting.

The cops also want to stress that you should absolutely call about pets too.

Do not feel like you are bothering the police because a dog is trapped in a car on a really hot day. You are absolutely in the right. When in doubt, call the police. That goes for just about everything.

You do have a valid point there. For me, I can't even run into the gas station to buy a 6 pack without my 17 lb. dog getting on the drivers seat and honking the horn.

Yes, it's happened. I was gone for about 3 minutes, paying, and I hear a horn honking. A lady walked in and said "someone's dog is honking the horn."

It was my dog.

Bring along a newspaper to pass the time while driving on long stretches of the freeway. You can just unfold it over the steering wheel, and you'll be just fine. Also, make sure you go much faster than the speed limit, because you don't want to run out of reading material before you reach your destination.

(I actually saw this on my way to work one day)

If your driving a diesel just fill the tank up with regular gas to save money at the pumps.

May I suggest keeping the windows rolled up and turn your heater on high, that should really help with the gas mileage.

Always remember, toll booths are a voluntary donation. Feel free to just drive right through them if you don't have any spare change.

If you see flashing lights and hear sirens behind you it means they've chosen you to lead a parade. Honk your horn and wave your hand out your window. Don't stop. It's a celebration.

You can simply close both eyes about 75 yards from the tunnel, then no adjustment to the dark is necessary. Driving everywhere with one eye closed sounds dangerous.

If you've had a couple beers and get pulled over and the cop has you walk in a straight line and says you're staggering...Tell him he's not so bad himself.

Also don't forget to share your last four beers left in your open case with him/her. Your sitting in your air conditioned car and he/she is standing in the hot sun. Have a heart and share a few cold ones.

Leaving your windows down overnight will help keep your car cooler in the mornings.

I just spent 12 of the last 15 months in that area. I'm not sure what kinds of things you would be interested in, but I have made a number of friends there, so I can ask them about anything that would be among your interests. I have a feeling we probably wouldn't be doing the same things. wink It's really a beautiful place.

Also, I would start a new thread on this question, because this thread isn't going to get you any information. I know Purple has some friends there and has spent time in the area also.
