I don't think this was an ISIS thing. I think this is a case where a guy made up stories about his connections to those groups in an effort to look important. I think he was emotionally troubled and this tragedy was fueled by hate.
Well one thing is for sure his muslim faith and his longing to be apart of terrorist organizations is pretty obvious. I think Swish said it right...his religion won over.
Can you imagine being raised to believe gays should be put to death and you yourself are struggling with why he wants to be intimate with men...so yes I agree he was sick demented whatever but being a muslim and wanting to be apart of extremists groups played a role in his thought process.

I'll add this one little caveat...and I know he was born and raised her but this still applies for me..hope its not perceived the wrong way..in reality he was a racist, homophobic wife beater that liked to get it on with dudes.
Anyone that has spent time in the middle east knows that his kind are about a dime a dozen. His prophet and all the religious scholars that have followed him worked out those contradictions a long long time ago.
Now that ^this^ news story is out? I think at the very least he had homosexual tendencies and hated that part of him. Perhaps guys rejected him too? I don't know. Mix that with his fanatical take on his religion, and a healthy dose of psycho, and there you have it.

We did have a bill after San Bernardino shooting that could have not allowed people on watch list or "no fly" list from getting a gun. Was defeated along party lines. I assume it will be voted on again soon. They aren't even sure if that bill would have helped in this situation because he was deemed to be safe enough to be removed off the list.
I don't know the answer.
However there were 2 more active shooter incidents last night. 3 people were killed in Morgan County WV and they brought in SWAT in New Mexico for an active shooter/hostage situation that either was a fake call or it worked itself out.
It was a 2-3 time a week occurrence that I get a notification on my online scanner that there is a multiple shooting or hostage situation somewhere in this county

The biggest conflict of interest comes from being a gay Muslim. And obviously, religion won out.
Sounds to me like he was just painfully confused... he had an image of the person he wanted to be (or was supposed to be).. and these feelings of the person he was.. and they were vastly different and he couldn't get them reconciled.... I don't think he hated gay people, I think he hated himself because he just couldn't be the person he thought he was supposed to be... I bet he contemplated suicide multiple times and in the end, chose a different route.. lashing out at the people who reminded him of his worst image of himself..
That's my $.02 worth of psycho analysis on this guy.
With that said, since this is my first post on the topic.. I was sickened by what happened, I was sickened by how fast both camps rallied around their "causes", I was sickened by the finger pointing and the blaming with very few facts, I was sickened by article after article of pure agenda from both sides that popped up on my news feeds, I was sickened by the bickering over what we should call it or not call it as if that made a difference... The majority of the media, a significant portion of the American people, and most of our politicians owe the friends and families of those affected a deep and sincere apology for acting like total A-holes about all of this before the blood on the floor was dry.
Even more of a reason I carry and in the gun free zones...while I wont be found in a gay night club...I could be somewhere else and I wont be on my phone crying for help and defenseless.
I'm not sure how I feel about the no fly list banning someone from purchasing a firearm...my best friend got put on it due to a similar spelling in his name...it took years to get off of it..they didnt notify him he was even on it...and legally he had no leg to stand on.
Damn near ruined him due to not being able to fly for the business he was in.
I dont trust the gov enough to not abuse the power if they know its attached to gun owners past or future ones. IDK man I agree we have a violence problem in this country but banning scary is not it.

Ive shot that 50 cal handgun I'll put it with the novelty gun like the 44mag and 50 cal Eagles I pull out to shoot when I get bored and want to hear BOOM.

Your response on Leviticus was nice, but as a Christian we are to be living in New Testament theology not Old Testament Theology. I'm not saying we should ignore the Old Testament, I just wish more people would realize that Leviticus wasn't written for posterity it was written, (AS I UNDERSTAND IT TO BE) for THAT time. Jesus came along to clean it up, clarify it . . . for eternity That's how I understand it. I could be wrong, I'm not very good at Christianity despite 12 years of Catholic schooling!!

Like I said not a point of argument for me..Ill post a vid of me shooting an AK and my ar15 with a bolt modification..meh you can be right..really man the point is damn near useless for me and I spent most of my day debating 9m or 45 with my shooting buddies today so man I am gun fatigued at the moment.
I agree Tulsa I guess I'm just saying depending how the Ar15 is modified which most of mine are..Id take it over the AK is all. I couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with the AK and it wasnt worth it for me...and with the modifications made to the bolt and what upper I built it with the caliber is almost limitless.

Actually, he was a muslim kid born to a former Taliban father who preached hatred of gays, jews, and infidels on occasion at a mosque. He was probably told how gays should be killed from the time before he realized he was gay. Don't turn this killer into a victim. The 49 people he killed are the victims.
Anyone watching CBS morning news and seeing the stories from the people shot who survived?? Man pretty chilling. Not to Monday quarterback but man how come no one fought back especially when he was reloading?? Fear? shock? IDK just dont understand how so many had the flight instinct but not fight for your life instinct.
