I arrived downtown to sweltering heat, cars packed down 9th like sardines in a container, and a buzz of a beehive while I walked over to the Q. I waited at the south entrance to the Q, and tons of "LET'S GO CAVS" chants erupt over the course of 45 minutes; something felt different about last night.

The game started, and every single shot felt like life or death. All the lead changes brought moments of eruption, and despair in the Q. We all felt good going into half, and then the Cavs hit another gear after halftime. JR draining shots, RJ with timely shooting and defense, Kevin Love doing whatever he needed to contribute, TT making foul shots, LeBron channeling game 5 against the Pistons in Game 5, and Kyrie doing some absolutely special things.

Below you'll see the last 9 minutes of the night, and celebration. I'll let the video (along with my ugly mug) speak for any words I could've added.

I cried myself to sleep last night. Aside from the birth of my children and my wedding day, I don't think I have ever been happier in my entire life.

Thank you, LeBron!! Thank you Cleveland Cavaliers for finally bringing us home a championship!!

Now let's those #WIndians in the MLB playoffs!!

I would hope ESPN would do that. For us locals, I'm sure it will be on every channel in the area. You may be able to pick it up on the website of one of the local stations.

j/c:

Such an awesome Game 7. So many lead changes, ebbs and flows, and in the end the Cavs make history win the series after being down 3-1. This was the best story book ending possible for the Cavs-- beating the Warriors with their best players AT their house in historic fashion. Could not have written a better script.

Congrats, Cavs.... you shut up Ayesha.

I saw something on twitter that was very cool and I apologize if it's already been mentioned:

The last time a Cleveland team won a championship, Lyndon B. Johnson was President. Ironically enough, his initials were LBJ.

Having had a night for it to sink in, it still seems surreal. When you think about everything that had to go right for this to happen, it's mind boggling. I can't ever remember a single player being as dominant in a series as LBJ was this one, that's MJ included, when it comes to finals, MJ can't even compare to LBJ at this point in his career. The way he just posterized Curry and Thompson with blocks. The way the last three games noone but the refs could stop him. If you just take a minute to look at the numbers, crazy. Let's not forget kyrie, his biggest detraction was always his desire to play defense..we saw him really put forth the effort and make some great plays. Kyrie is a better all around player than Curry, everyone loves the 3 ball, but what kyrie can do is much more difficult, and the throw that dagger 3 in the face of curry, that was almost as much fun as winning it all. The whole game all the warriors just talking smack, flexing, displaying their feathers after every routine play...meanwhile the cavs just did their thing and you could see during that 3rd quarter, GS demeanor totally changed, they were in " oh, ...this isn't going as well as we thought" mode. When it came down to the last minutes and the score was at 89 forever, had i not already knew who won, I think i would have still been confident because having lebron or kyrie in the last minute of the game is something no team could defend.

Having not only won a championship, but also having won it in the most un-cleveland way by coming back from impossible odds, I hope this really takes the pressure off all the teams...They don't have to be the ones to save us from the curse. Hopefully this happens alot like the Boston/NE run

I'd argue this win, especially yesterday, reaches different heights for me. Luckily it happened while I came home for the summer, and I got to partake in it.

A Browns or Indians championship most likely happens while I'm in Alaska, and no other Cleveland sports fans reside where I work and live; this one, last night, remains forever etched into my memory for this very reason.

Is there any dawg out there willing to buy and send me a Cleveland plain dealer?

I will pay for your troubles

I went to bed at 1 am with tears and was fine until 5 when they replayed. "CLEVELAND THIS IS FOR YOU"

I just want to point out that the Cavs were down 3 to 1 and most felt this series was over.

Then The Monsters win the Cup and the Cavs turned it around.

Coincidence?? I think not !!! Thank you to the Monsters for breaking the curse!! smile

In all seriousness, when I saw Bron walk off the court after game 6 I turned and told my GF that I see something in his eyes.

I have been tough on Lebron, and I think my criticism of him at that point was fair and true. However, he has taken that step to the next level. He is on the same plain as MJ and Kobe.

The number 10,000 was reported, and the freeways leading to the airport are at a virtual standstill, because they are all jammed with people trying to get to the airport.

I'm in Chicago so can't really help, but do a search, if you're anywhere near a major metropolitan area there will be a newstand downtown somewhere that has papers flown in from all of the major cities...hopefully Cleveland would qualify.

Only in Cleveland will 10k+ of us show up to watch our team get off a plane, speak a little bit, and go on their way.

Anyone want to meet up at the parade on Wednesday?
