Arena Football League interested in Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel's playing career is in doubt right now -- but if he doesn't play in the NFL this season, the Arena Football League says it has a home for him.

"We could provide a strong platform for him to demonstrate that he is back," AFL commissioner Scott Butera told TMZ Sports. "We would also work with him and provide him whatever help he needed to live a healthy life."

The NFL suspended Manziel earlier this week for the first four games of the 2016 season because of a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Sources tell ESPN that Manziel, who remains unsigned after being released by the Browns in March, still faces potential discipline from the league for violations of its personal conduct policy if he does sign with a team. His domestic assault case in Dallas is still pending.

TMZ Sports reached out to Manziel for comment but had not received a response.

Hey, you know, that would be a terrific thing for him. Hope it works out.

By him to you mean AFL commissioner Scott Butera?

I meant JM but yeah, I suppose the AFL wins by default

Would he lose his NFL guaranteed money if he plays arena football? He's still getting paid by the browns, no?

In the AFL, paying his salary would probably be cheaper.

Fight club star JFU throwing punches at his friends wedding in Hawaii then sends a bottle of bubbly to the victim the next morning trying to apologize.

http://nypost.com/2016/07/20/johnny-manziel-allegedly-threw-punches-at-pals-wedding/

The troubled quarterback got into a fistfight during a friend’s wedding this weekend in Hawaii, TMZ reports. The Browns flameout did not initiate the rumble, but things began to turn sour between Manziel and another guest after Friday night’s rehearsal dinner at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort.

Wasn't he suppose to be sobering up and getting ready for football? Lmfaoooo, he's such a disgrace. Whether he started it or not, I don't care or don't care to read the fine details. CFL sooner or later going to want absolutely nothing to do with that mess.

This is one really disturbed kid. He has said that he wants to restart his NFL career, but he has to stay completely clean and free if incident in order to do so. However, it seems like every day or 2 there is another issue. It's really sad. I wonder what happens when he runs out of money. I cannot imagine his parents continuing to fund his lifestyle.

Johnny Manziel reportedly punched a man in the face at Hawaiian wedding - CBSSports.com
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/johnny...waiian-wedding/

The road to hell, the saying goes, is paved with good intentions. Earlier this week, former Heisman Trophy winner and Browns 2014 first-round pick Johnny Manziel, who has spent much of the offseason partying and may have already taken his last NFL snap, posted a video to Instagram that included this caption: "You all write about a day in my life and what goes on ... here it is. No secrets, no hiding, I'm not what you read about. I'll be back ... In time. It can't end like this ... it won't. I love you all even though your comments suck."

But days before Manziel wrote those words, he had punched a man in the face the night before a friend's Hawaiian wedding, according to TMZ.

Here's what we know ... Manziel was at the Four Seasons Resort on the Big Island on Friday night when he got into it with another wedding guest. We're told things had been heated between the guys for a while -- but it all came to a head at the rehearsal dinner. Sources connected to Manziel tell us the QB felt like he was being hounded by the other man. We're told Johnny was adamant he was not the instigator. But things escalated ... and at one point during the altercation Manziel struck the other guy in the face.

TMZ adds that "the fight was over almost immediately" and that local authorities say they were not called to the hotel. There's more, of course. The next day, the man reportedly in the altercation with Manziel received a bottle of champagne -- with a note -- from room service. The note read, "Truly apologize. Should have never done that. Know this won't make it better, but hope it starts the day off alright."

TMZ reports that the note was signed by -- you guessed it -- Manziel.

For what it's worth, Manziel posted a photo to Instagram that was taken at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, and shows him with a bandaged index finger. Make of this what you will.

It's unclear whether this is just a hiccup in Manziel's plan to rebuild his image and plot his NFL return, or the latest in a long line of incidents that reinforce the belief that his football career is over. Either way, CBSSports.com's John Breech has a running list of some of the things Manziel has been up to this offseason.

He went to a club in Los Angeles.
He hired a new agent because his old one fired him.
He went to a club in Miami.
He went to a Chris Brown concert in Vegas.
He went to a club in Vegas.
He went to another club in L.A.
He got a tattoo.
He spent some time with Justin Bieber.
He did $32,000 in damage to a $4.5 million house.
His new agent fired him and urged him to get treatment.
He was the passenger in a hit-and-run.
He watched the NFL Draft at a bar.
He went to Coachella with Josh Gordon.
He looked surprisingly thin at a Vegas pool party.
He partied with Leonardo DiCaprio.
He skipped a Hamptons party/helicopter ride and "allegedly evaded payment of car accident costs."
He got another tattoo.
He had this response to Manziel jerseys selling for $1.99. My note:(the link shows Manziel's response, which was to post a black and white image of a rack of his marked down jerseys, with the caption; "LOL". Glad he found it funny that he flushed his career and screwed his employer.

For some reason - and I don't KNOW this - but it seems to me I've read that he gets an income from his grandpa's oil wells - or from a trust fund of some sort. I don't think money is a huge deal. I don't have proof, though.

Regardless, the guy can't handle his booze and drugs. I know, and we all know people that are violent drinkers and people that are mellow drinkers.

I know some people that drink darn near every day and they're just fine - as far as getting into trouble, that is.

Golfed with a guy a few weeks ago in a scramble. I was told he doesn't drink. Nicest guy around from what little I learned about him in the first 7 holes. But, then he started drinking. After 3 beers, he was a completely different guy. Loud, cussing, etc.

John Manziel just seems to not be able to handle whatever it is he does. JMO.

JM does come from a wealthy family, that's been talked about and verified a bunch of times. How much wealth overall and how much flows down to him has never really been discussed, or at least, I haven't heard or read it.

Well, in all fairness, if you read the list of stories, a lot of them are, "He went to a club".. ok, he went to a club.. so?

I mean if their angle is, he's a recovering alcoholic and we caught him drinking, then I guess just being in a club can be a story.. maybe.

The fact that he goes to club is not news, the fact that he hasn't quit drinking is not news.. so the simple fact that he was in a club should not be news.. but for some reason, even months after being dropped from an NFL roster, it still is..

Nothing will change until it's not cool to be seen with Manziel. When TMZ stops following him around... When he's no longer permitted to just go into a club and get service for free, etc.

And by then, it will probably be too late when he realizes what he's thrown away.

I still think the guy can play football. I know things didn't always look great, but if you mix in his talents with the thought that if he put 100% of himself into football, and into the Browns, he would have developed into a nice player. I mean he quarterbacked this team to 2 wins last year despite not being committed at all.

It's a really sad story. I don't blame the Browns at all, because we all knew he partied in college, but nobody would have thought it would be this bad. There are pictures of Eli Manning, Big Ben, etc all partying it up in college. It's what kids do when they are away at school, football prodigies, or not. He got in way too deep. Horrible attitude, and it's going to be sad when he wakes up.

The Browns made a mistake and moved on. Whether or not Cody Kessler ever turns into anything, he seems like the complete opposite of Manziel. First in the building, last to leave. I guess you have to start somewhere.

He can't play ball.. One being a pro football player makes him ineligible because of the amateur rules... And also once you start a sport y have 4 years of eligibility that you need to use within 5 years

I'd be willing to bet he's extremely intelligent for some reason

Is there one thing he did when he was with the Browns that suggested extreme intelligence?
