The Dallas Mavericks intend to sign restricted free agent Harrison Barnes to a max offer sheet on the first day they are able, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN that the Mavericks have committed a four-year max contract to Barnes worth an estimated $95 million, which can be finalized July 7, when a leaguewide moratorium is lifted on signings and trades.

Wow..... Barnes has been making money purely off of hype. Cause he just doesn't show up when it matters, and is horribly inconsistent.

This essentially takes them out of the KD sweepstakes. Which is pretty weird considering Steve Ballmer began crying during their meeting.

The sense from Durant to GSWs, according to a source, continues to be that he likes their team but doesn't know if he can/should leave OKC.

I think he's waiting on Durant. Maybe Spurs. Maybe Warriors if they don't sign Barnes.

If I were him, I'd go to the Spurs.

I could see why joining the Warriors would be good for him.

I think he'll stay though.

Yet only Durant himself, so connected to his franchise and that OKC community, knows if he can bear to walk away from everything he's built

The money is a wash if we're talking two-year deals. OKC can offer a two-year pact worth $55 million. All other teams: Two years, $54.27 mil

This is why I laughed at all the people saying he'd stay in OKC because of the money. The difference is nothing.

And even if you're talking the long term deal differences, 5 years for OKC vs. 4 years for everyone else, it's not like he won't get an awesome deal when he's a free agent in that 5th year if he leaves. Sure, a non-all star will take the guaranteed longer deal, but a guy like Durant will make the same money regardless over his career. He's a stud. Heck, becoming a free agent faster will probably net him more cash in the long run.

I think if he wants to max out profit he signs a one year deal and then signs a max deal next offseason. But I actually don't think Durant is all about the money. I think he genuinely is thinking this over
