He either stays in Miami forever, or joins up with Bron.

We're gonna need to just wait until the CBA is up next year. Amnesty somebody like Shumpert to have cap space and sign Lebron + another star. Lebron would have to sign up and take a little less than he wants, but it's not impossible because Kyries contract is so cheap in comparison.

Tim Duncan gonna retire frown Damn Tony's contract.

Thanks Timmy for giving me some of the best memories of watching basketball. Growing up watching you work Shaq every year in the playoffs. Your finals beating the hated Pistons were great. Your win against the Cavs was very bitter then a little sweet. After LeBron left the Cavs, the Spurs really helped me keep an interest in basketball, but you kept me watching. Boring af, but beautiful. The greatest 4 to ever live.

Duncan retires as soon as Warriors super team is formed. I don't blame him. One of the best.

I don't think we can amnesty anyone. We amnestied Baron Davis.

I'm not panicking. The Cavs Big 3 can only get better as they play more.

GS still has to prove they can work together. And also that they aren't a soft team. Because Steph and Klay have proven to not be able to handle physicality, and KD is coming across as very mentally soft after the WCF and now this..

Just calm down.

I'm hoping it's like when the Lakers added Dwight and Nash. However, in reality a 73 win team just replaced the weakest link in its starting 5 with Kevin freaking Durant.

There's only 2 ways that happens:

1. Install a hard cap

Or

2. Eliminate max contracts

Basically make it into how the NFL does it. Good luck trying to pay Curry and Durant if that happened.

Tru, feel like they'll try to keep max contracts for a few more sessions though. Or at least until there enough talent in the league to make sure someone doesn't blow all their money on someone.

Lebron needs to recruit Wade HEAVY right now. He'd be an upgrade over JR.

I'm mildly not interested in Wade.

Part of me thinks it'll hurt Kyries development. He's going to have to develop into THE GUY if/when Bron leaves.

Well, GS will have Curry, Thompson, Green, and now Durant, and that is extremely formidable. They will, however, now have to do what the Cavaliers have had to do, and mix and match pieces around their top 4 players.

They have already renounced their rights to Ezeli, and will trade Bogut. (which will cost them draft picks) They will, obviously, renounce their rights to Barnes. They also have the Speights, Barbosa, and I believe Varejao as the other free agents on their team. Will they be able to bring them back? Will their owner pay a massive luxury tax bill? I have read that they will also have to dump Iguodala as well, though I am not an expert on the NBA cap, or their cap situation.

As near as I can tell, this is their roster right now. (without their free agents, and without Bogut)

The Warriors are reportedly picking up Livingston's option for next season.

PG: Curry, Livingston
SG: Thompson, Rush, Clark
SF: Durant, Looney, McAdoo
PF: Green,
C: ?

I think that's right, though if there are mistakes, please feel free to correct them.

I do wonder if their owner will do as Gilbert did, and pay a luxury tax bill to add pieces around his 4 top players?

They don't have to dump Iggy and they'll keep Livingston. The team will be

Curry
Thompson
Iggy
Durant
Green

Livingston

Everyone else is gone.

It's not really an option. Unless OKC does a sign and trade to get Durant there under an existing contract, the Warriors would have to renounce everyone just to get to the point where they can sign Durant. At that point, they wouldn't have the rights to anybody and they would be at the salary cap. They would be restricted to Mid-Level Exceptions and Veteran Minimum salaries. They can't sign other FA's as they would be already at the cap and they can't resign guys they already have as they would have to renounce their rights.

The only way they could really push the luxary tax bill would be to give their existing starters even larger contracts.

The Cavs proved able to dominate GS's smaller lineup ... it's actually what won us the title.

HOWEVER, that small lineup didn't have Durant

I'm betting they do have to let Iguidala go. That's their 6th man. GONE.

Barnes and Bogut GONE.

EZ. GONE.

Rim protection. 6th man defensive slug GONE. Option 3in Barnes GONE.

How well Durant fits in is questionable. He's a scorer not a passer. They may have just screwed themselves.

Zaza Pachulia to Golden State. That's a pretty good start.

IMO if Golden State doesn't win the 2017 title it's the biggest upset in professional sports in my lifetime. They will be that good.

That's the thing. We've seen these mega teams formed before..Ok maybe not to this level, but i still doesn't always mean easy championship or even success in the early rounds of the playoffs. Coaching a team like this can be very tricky. Lots of egos and only one basketball.

I agree in theory ... but I do think GS style of play is nearly perfect for Durant. He'll slide in pretty easily and excel.

I believe with the Durant signing we need to think about developing a young nucleus. Stop trading 1st round picks and making bad deals like the one for Deng and (hindsight) Mozgov. A role player isn't going to be the difference in us beating Golden State or not. Superstars run this league, not role players. Unless you're upgrading from Love, don't include any future picks. I'm not saying to trade guys and rebuild, but to be cautious about the future.

The last pick in the 1st or 2nd round really isn't going to amount to much either. How many of those guys even contribute to an top NBA team?

Yep. The most efficient way would be banking on Europeans who won't even come into the league for a few more years. Luckily we have a young enough nucleus as is.

So is this GS hitting the panic button?

They won a title, and got upset because everyone says they were a "lucky" team that only won because of injuries.

So they went out to prove everyone wrong, won 73 games.

Then almost lost in the WCF, and then collapsed against the team everyone said "should of" beat them the year before..

They are clearly going against what their original plan was to build that team.

They arent the scrappy young jump shooting team anymore. They are the new Miami Heat. Times 10.

Wonder if they can all handle that.

I agree they will feel some pressure ... and there's no doubt in my mind they were shell shocked to lose the Finals. But I don't expect anything less than a dominant year next season.

Sure, they have a lot to live up to ... but it beats the alternative. I'd rather have their roster and all the pressure in the world than the other way around.
