As a police officer, I'd find it very difficult to have him using my time to rehabilitate his public image. He's shown his position on the matter quite clearly. So now the police are going to have to help him fix his own very public stupidity on top of everything else dumped on cops these days? No thanks.
Just want to be clear, my idea of Crow was to go to police events with the community. The idea being that him being there would muster enthusiasm and get more people to go. As a kid, I remember going to a police camp that was pretty cool. We got to see the inside of the car, got to see their mobile command center, watch the K9's work, played games, and at the end some officers came down with parachutes holding some tickets to a Giants Pre-Season Game. Crow wouldn't need to take pictures with police or anything, but he could represent the Browns at an event like this, and help bring in more people, to help build a bridge between officers and citizens. That's the idea with these things. Helps Cops become friendlier and more trusted by the communities that they serve. The more people that show up, the more people they can make an impression on He made a mistake, I'm sure he regrets it. He didn't write the statement because he's clearly not the most intelligent fellow. He used "Polices" to describe multiple police officers. But this doesn't for one minute make me think that he doesn't regret what he did. It was something he wrote in a moment of passion without thinking. There's a perception in this country that the police and the justice system are out to get african americans. This view is held by so many african americans that it's very difficult for me to ignore it and say "That's just not true." Did Isiah help the situation? Absolutely not. I don't think he realized the impact of what he was doing, period. But I don't think that makes him some mean-hearted individual. I think it makes him an immature 23 year old who was upset about something that clearly hits very close to home for him

If that's the kind of police force you'd want, good luck to ya. Never said that. I am simply saying if you want them to throw themself between you and harms way, a little respect helps. To me it is pretty cavalier to say it's their job.

I wouldn't even mind having gas station surveillance cams, etc. As long as those weren't the lead story in the press/media. I'm glad some people still want to be cops. We need them. I can't imagine the stress they are under though.

I just had something happen to me that gives me some hope that we can do more than just dig into our positions and remain entrenched in our different camps.
I don't condone the killing of police or the indiscriminate killing of black citizens at the hands of police. In keeping with that, a proportional response to his stupid mistake would have the best chance of leading to a just resolution for Crow, the team and the community at large.

Hi Peen...
Just clicking here...
I have no problems with Crows Post or whatever it was..
I swear I was just at Subway...A cop I know, was being a total dick with the workers in there. He juices and he's a big ass when he's on it...
He pulled his badge out and demands a discount. The thing is ..he goes in there all the time and knows the workers. after he left I told the workers he was being rude...and they said they never know how he's going to act... I told them he juices and when he does he's an ass..
Now.. have a cop on juice in his uni and sporting his badge pulling you over... Yeah I wanted to kick him in his nuts and bust his face... but then I'm the bad guy...
I have 2 brother n laws who are / were cops... drunk asses..all the time.
Just like anything from Priests..Politicians... Parents..Athletes...People... If your an ass your an ass ...
Maybe Crow had a bad experience... lets just say...for no damn reason.

Not really, according to the USSC. Their job is to maintain law and order, stop or prevent crime and apprehend criminals. "To protect and to serve" isn't in actually in their job description.

I could see why the police might want to stop answering calls and patrolling certain neighborhoods.
The hate against the police is flat out wrong. I'd say...........if we are so despicable and hated, deal w/your own problems.

1) I'm not sure this site gets 1 million users. 2) Can you find me an impressionable youth on this forum? I'd bet the age of the average user on here is probably around 30, with the average age of posters being a few years older than that. Top of the page on Yahoo: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/browns-irat...-124940631.htmlYeah, no one is seeing this.

When I was a kid, my best friend's father lived on the North Side of Youngstown, in a neighborhood that cops would not go into after dark. It was sad. My buddy's father had the kid next door break into his house, steal a bunch of his stuff, and beat him up. He was legitimately in fear for his life. The police would not go out there at night, even if someone's life was at risk.
Fortunately, Youngstown has changed a lot since then. It's far from perfect, but the relationships between different peoples, and between people and their police, are much better. It takes time, though, and it takes cooperation between the police and people living in these poorer neighborhoods.

Isaiah Crowell spoke with Cleveland police chief Calvin Williams, apologized for Instagram post Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com Follow on Twitter on July 12, 2016 at 11:51 AM, updated July 13, 2016 at 6:43 AM link CLEVELAND, Ohio - Isaiah Crowell took another big step Tuesday by calling Cleveland police chief Calvin Williams and apologizing for an Instagram post showing an illustration of a police officer having his throat slashed by a hooded figure. Williams was speaking Tuesday at a media event about security preparations for next week's Republican National Convention at Quicken Loans Arena when he revealed that the Browns running back called him. He said he has purposely avoided looking at the image Crowell posted on Instagram. According to Williams, Crowell told him he regretted the post and that he was caught up in the heat of emotion after two black men - Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minneapolis - were fatally shot by police. The call to Williams came a day after Crowell issued a public apology for the post on his Twitter account and through the Browns media relations department. With racial tensions running high in the country in the wake of the fatal shootings of five police officers in Dallas on Thursday, many fans and some media, including ESPNCleveland's Bruce Hooley, have called for Crowell's immediate dismissal by the Browns. The Browns currently have no plans to do that, but stressed in a statement Monday that he must back up his words with action. "We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision,'' the Browns said Monday in the statement, attributed to a team spokesman. "It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment. Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.'' Before making any determination on possible discipline for Crowell, the Browns will give him a chance to redeem himself by being part of the solution instead of the problem. At this point, both the team and the NFL seem satisfied that Crowell took the post down immediately, acknowledged his mistake and is taking measures to show how genuinely remorseful he is. The call to Williams was another example of Crowell being willing to back up his apology with positive action.

OK what Crow posted was stupid, vile, ignorant, asinine, and just plain wrong. No questions asked, no doubt about it.
Now for those folks calling for the kids head on a platter, and not accepting an apology your actions and reactions are just as bad as his.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Isaiah Crowell to donate first game check of season to police charity Posted by Darin Gantt on July 13, 2016, 6:00 AM EDT link Browns running back Isaiah Crowell has already apologized, and has already been told that wasn’t enough. Now, the man who posted and quickly deleted a drawing of a man killing a police officer last week is putting his money where his mouth is. Crowell told TMZ Sports he was donating his first game check of the season to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, which supports officers killed in duty like the five last week. Crowell’s unfortunate post came before the Dallas shootings, but after a pair of men were shot and killed by police in Louisiana and Minnesota. “I would never wish violence on anyone, especially a police officer,” Crowell said. “I’m sorry to all the Browns fans, all the people who support my career and all the kids out there who look up to me. But most of all, all the good police officers who are out there protecting us every day. By posting that picture, I became part of the problem. And I don’t want to be part of the problem, I want to be part of the solution. . . . “I know this may not change your mind about me, and I can’t take the post back. But I’m sorry, and moving forward, I’m committed to being part of the solution.” Crowell’s scheduled to make $600,000 this year, which would put his donation at $35,294. He’s right that the gesture won’t change some minds, but it’s also the kind of thing he has to do if he’s going to convince his employers of his contrition, in hopes of hanging onto the rest of his paychecks.

IMO, this is a solid, really positive step in the right direction for Crowell. The donation along with the much more sincere sounding statement make me more inclined to let this go. Not that what I think really matters in the big picture ... just saying.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...k-browns-games/ PFT Cleveland police union threatens not to work Browns games Posted by Mike Florio on July 12, 2016, 5:37 PM EDT CLEVELAND, OH - MAY 23: A The Browns don’t believe it’s good enough for running back Isaiah Crowell’s to simply apologize for posting on social media an image of an attack on a police officer. The union that represents Cleveland’s police officers agrees. Stephen Loomis, the president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, calls Crowell’s gesture a “store-bought apology.” In comments to TMZ, Loomis also described Crowell’s post as being as “offensive as putting a picture of historical African-American men being hung from a tree in the 60s.” Loomis has a specific suggestion for what Crowell needs to do next. “He needs to go to Dallas, help the families who lost their loved ones last week, write them a check, look them in the eyes and give a heartfelt apology,” Loomis told TMZ. If Crowell doesn’t, there will be consequences. “I will pull Cleveland officers, sheriffs, state troopers out of First Energy Stadium this season if he doesn’t make it right,” Loomis said. “You’re a grown-ass man, and you claim you were too emotional to know it was wrong? Think we’ll accept your apology? Kiss my ass.” The Browns haven’t cut Crowell, presumably because they value his football skills. If he were lingering at the bottom of the roster, he’d already be gone. If the team is going to keep him, it would be wise for the Browns to encourage him to do what Loomis has requested. I think this is awesome. Cops need to start standing up for themselves. They had an incredibly hard job before all this nonsense started. It's gotten exponentially worse. It is awesome in its own sick way. I approve of his comments. 110%. Police need to stand up.

nice moves by Crow. well done.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I only mean this in jest so don't read it any other way, but did it occur to anyone that by promising his first game check to charity he's made a move that would ensure he was on the team to give a check in the first place?
Anyways, way to go Crow, nice move.

Cleveland police union accepts Isaiah Crowell’s revised apology | ProFootballTalk http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/07/13/cleveland-police-union-accepts-isaiah-crowells-revised-apology/?utm_network=twitter&utm_post=6023737&utm_source=TW%20%40SNFonNBC&utm_tags=srm%5Bfootball%5D
The Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association didn’t care much for the initial apology offered by Browns running back Isaiah Crowell for posting an image of violence against a police officer on social media, which prompted a threat to refuse to work at the team’s home games. The police union has accepted Crowell’s second apology, which includes the donation of a game check to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation.
“I appreciate the apology and we accept it,” CPPA president Stephen Loomis told TMZ. “People are allowed to make mistakes in life. Our problem was that first apology. It wasn’t sincere. But Isaiah stepped up to the plate to make a personal apology, and we definitely appreciate his donation to the Fallen Officers Foundation.”
That’s good news for the Browns organization, especially as it relates to the 10 games to be played in Cleveland this year.
“I’m glad we didn’t have to go the route of boycotting Browns games. We would not have enjoyed that. We wanted to give Isaiah the opportunity to make things right, and he did.”
It’s unclear whether a boycott would have worked, since individual officers may have decided not to turn down the assignment of working Browns games. Regardless, it won’t get to that point.

Can't stand cops. This I dont respect your opinion, so I wont do my job for you is so selfish. Prime reason I dont like cops. They have this "god" complex, and think you have to obey each and every command. Someone give me one instance where a cop has apologized for taking someones life? Now we want all the apologies in the world for him posting a picture. thats crap.
I dont agree with Crowell's post, but as a black man, I completely understand where he is coming from.
Walk around with a target on your chest because of the color of your skin, and some of you would sing a different song.
He was emotional. Apologized for it. move on.
