I agree Mr. Peen .. There to chisled, to tight ..
The injuries in this game have ruined it for me as far as it being a pure spectator sport ... Every week the # of guys lost for the season continues to rise year in and year out .. It's BRUTAL anymore ...
In our case this is an especially harmful injury as is was one of our most talented player and also someone to help ALL the YOUNGINS along .. The vets on this team have to all be older brothers to these rooks and 2nd year players .. He will be sorely missed on two levels ..

Good point. Desmond has the big frame that we're drafting for. Could have been helpful in the development of those bigger guys. Give them something to strive for. I didn't even think of this before, but it also means we're losing a Harvard man as well.
The training stuff is interesting, but how in touch are trainers with the players right now? I thought coaches kinda had to keep their distance from players between OTAs and minicamps. Can someone clear this up for me?

Let's look and see how often a team should expect to see a player go down with a pec injury. I couldn't find 2015 data (or even 2014, for that matter), but according to a story on mashable.com, there were over 1,300 injuries in the 2013-2014 regular season. Of those 1,300+, only 11 were pectoral injuries (probability of .008391), so the odds of a team having five of those injuries in 2 years are quite low. If there are 1,300 injuries for 32 teams, each team should, on average, suffer 40.625 injuries per year. The probability of a pec injury being one of those injuries is .340884375 (40.625 x .008391). So basically, one out of every three teams should suffer a pec injury in a given season. We suffered 2.5 per year while Evan Marcus was our S&T coach, which is about 7x higher than the average). No saying this Evan guy isn't doing something wrong.. but his stats takes REGULAR SEASON injuries, then starts comparing the probability of getting a preseason injury while lifting? His logic doesn't seem right. Don't players lift hard in the off-season to bulk up as much as possible and then back off during the regular season to maintain and conserve energy? Just curious.

I guess you could look at losing him for the season as either the glass is half full or half empty.
We don't get to see him play, but we DO get to see some of the younger guys play. Maybe we find something crazy good.
Best to you DB!

Time to trade for Muhammad Wilkerson. He's not happy with the Jets. He's only 26 and he's a beast at 3-4 DE. We have plenty of cap sapce to sign him to a good contract....

Not sure he's worth a #1 pick. Really don't know what else we could trade them to get him here besides giving him a long term deal and giving the Jet's one of our 2017 #1's. Reports suggest, he wants to go to SF anyways and giving away a #1 for 2017 could really screw us if we need to go after those top tier QB, WR, DB, DL, or Olinmen.

I highly doubt the team makes a move for Wilkerson. I don't think they're in the market to make big splashes yet, and to acquire him would likely be a big splash ordeal.
He'd be huge to get though. He's a monster.

You aren't the only person to ask this and I got to say, I don't know why you would question his willingness to spend. He's spent tons of money. But, let's be honest, it's pretty clear they are attempting to Remake the roster. Given the recent history of wins and losses, that might be the very best thing they can do. Further, adding a high dollar/high performance DL to replace Bryant probably won't get you the brass ring. We're still missing too many parts.

We should just go ahead and try to reach an agreement with Bryant for his release. I like Bryant but it seems to always be something with him. I would go ahead and pull the plug on him and Kruger. bite the bullet now and be done with it.

I believe the answer to that is a simple one Daman.
Although a few posters claim otherwise, I believe Haslam and this FO knows where we stand. We aren't going to win many games this year. We are in rebuild mode. Even you eluded to it in your post.
So at this time, I believe they see no sense in signing big time players to big time money. We're not really going anywhere the next couple of years so there's no sense signing big time contracts for a couple of years to see how things shake out with this and next years draft.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Bc he didn't have sacks last year, playing in a God awful scheme headed by a God awful coordinator that many players on the defense made public remarks about hating it? Or maybe something else?

TRich, Weeden, Gilber, or Manziel in the first round? Who's conveniently missing from this list? I'm sure it was just an oversight.

Kruger career has been up and down. Every other year he produces. But he's strictly a pass Rusher. But he can't even do that At a high level. He's a weak link in run defense. He's not a physical player. He gets blocked easily. He can't get rid of tight ends. The Browns over paid for him. 18 sacks in 3 years. 20 of his 33 sacks came in 2 years He needs to really elevate his game on a defense starved for difference makers

This franchise is always in the top 10 of cap space yet fail To capitolize on it. It remarkable cause they never drafted well enough to even have players Merit lg contracts Most of their qbs in past history have been bargin bin prices except for Delhomme who they severely over paid for. They could went after some good FAs like Andre Smith Matt Forte Janis Jenkins to really upgrade those spots

Evan Marcus joined the Virginia football staff prior in 2011 as the program's Director of Football Training and Player Development. Marcus returned to the UVa program after spending the previous four years working in the National Football League. He served as UVa's head strength coach for four football seasons from 2003-06.For the three years Marcus was the Miami Dolphins' head strength and conditioning coach. Prior to that he served in the same capacity with the Atlanta Falcons during the 2007 season. In those roles he managed the physical development of the team's players, including strength and conditioning, flexibility, nutrition, agility and speed improvement. Marcus said the past four years at the NFL level allows him to bring some innovations and new approaches to the Cavalier program. He also looks forward to having a greater overall impact on student-athletes. Marcus started in the NFL as the assistant strength coach with the New Orleans Saints from 2000-02. He held assistant strength and conditioning posts on the collegiate level at Arizona State (1991-92), Rutgers (1993), Maryland (1994), Texas (1995-97) and Louisville (1998-99). Marcus oversaw a complete renovation of the strength and training room in the McCue Center during the spring of 2012 that doubled the amount of workstations for student-athletes and incorporated additional resources to facilitate more efficient workout routines. The area also received a complete makeover with new graphics and color schemes. Marcus is a 1990 graduate of Ithaca College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science. He lettered three times as an offensive tackle on the school's football team and was a starter on the 1988 NCAA Division III National Championship team. marcus He didn't stay long any where he went... Makes me question his abilities... Just what are these innovations and new approaches. They seemed to have had a bad impact on the Vikings players. Doesn't seem coincidental that there's already a Pec injury... I hope this guy doesn't tear up these young players.

I disagree w/you about Kruger. He is one of our better defenders. Kruger sets the edge better than any other LB we have had during his time here, and probably better than anyone we have had 1999-present except, maybe, Matt Roth. He is a better all around OLB than most gave him credit for when we signed him, but has disappointed as a pass rusher. If we get 2014 Kruger, with 11 sacks and 4 forced fumbles, (IIRC) then he is worth his salary. However, the OLB position in the 3-4 is more and more about the pass rush, and if we can't get a rush from Kruger, (or Mingo, for that matter) then our defense is going to struggle. I would also add that Kruger had his best season under Pettine and O'Neill, not Horton. I think that people are getting their hopes up as far as the impact Horton will have on Kruger. Kruger has 4.5 sacks under Horton in 2013, and 2.5 last year. It sure looks like 2014 was an outlier. If Kruger does not get back to demonstrating pass rush ability, and/or if he does not seem like a fit in Horton's defense, then he is an overpriced older veteran, and will have a very difficult time holding onto his job. (and maybe even his roster spot) I am even more convinced that we should be playing the rookies on defense after the loss of Bryant to season ending injury. The defense is going to struggle, so we might as well get experience, and hopefully growth for the rooks out of the struggle.

good point about setting the edge ... we can't rely on Mingo to do that (not sure about Orchard or Ogbah yet either)

Our best defender which isn't saying much on this team. Our win total may fall from 3 to 2 so no big deal. They better hope to God they get a huge improvement out of Shelton or we are in huge trouble and some horrible beat downs. I have never been impressed with Horton either.

Joe Hayden-healthy/is our best D player, ie Pro Bowl...our win total will be based on how much the O improves...Joe Thomas stated, very few games are won 13-10 in today's NFL....we will go as far as our rookie receivers/Pryor/Gordon/Johnson take us, because someone will throw them the ball.....GO Browns!!!!

Kruger has the big contract and really just hasnt produced. I think he is a liability against the run and just not that effective getting after the QB anymore. Take what he did last year and ignore him. Jimmy O'Niel ruined him probably more than any other player here by taking him outta his realm of strengths and making him do things that he shouldn't have been. IMO, like it or not, but Paul is our best pass rusher, including all groups from linemen to other linebackers. He over pursues sometimes which gets him in trouble which supports the liability on the run, but he's also probably our best linebacker against run defense. Besides, I think Horton will have him attacking 99.99999999999999999999% of the time. No more drop back into coverage. No more stupid stuff. We can only wait and see. We did maybe overpay for him, that I definitely would agree with.
