Miko Grimes denies being anti-Semitic for ‘jew buddies’ comment about Dolphins owner

Miko Grimes has gained renown for her exceptional bluntness on Twitter, despite being in the theoretically delicate position of being married to an active NFL player whose employers might not appreciate her commentary. That appeared to have been the case when her husband, cornerback Brent Grimes, was released by the Dolphins in March, after which Miami’s owner, Stephen Ross, said (via the Palm Beach Post) that “it was best that the Dolphins move on from Brent and Miko.”

Now Miko Grimes may have given the owners of her husband’s new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, some pause after posting a tweet about Ross on Monday that brought her criticism for being anti-Semitic. The Buccaneers are owned by the Glazer family, whose parents and grandparents were Lithuanian Jewish immigrants to the U.S. Last year, team co-chairman Bryan Glazer donated $4 million to help build a Jewish community center in Tampa.

Grimes, as she has done before on Twitter, was belittling Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill as “a bum” when she expanded that assessment to Ross and Miami’s vice president of football operations, Mike Tannenbaum. That eventually led to this tweet: “Gotta respect ross for keeping his jew buddies employed but did he not see how tannenbaum put the jets in the dumpster w/that sanchez deal?” When Tannenbaum ran the Jets, he signed quarterback Mark Sanchez to a three-year, $40.5 million contract extension in 2012, a move widely viewed as a make-nice gesture after the team had looked into Peyton Manning’s availability, one that did not work out well for New York.

“What would I have against Jewish people?” Grimes wrote Monday in an exchange with the Tampa Bay Times. “Why is this the first time I’m being called anti-Semitic, as big as my mouth is, if I really have an issue with Jewish people? Is anything I said false? Do Jewish, Catholic, Christian and frat brothers, etc. hire their own people? … I was intending to offend the Dolphins, specifically Stephen Ross and Mike Tannenbaum. Anyone else that chooses to dive in front of those bullets is their own fault.

“If you are a GM in the NFL and you happen to be Jewish, nine times out of 10 you will get another job if fired because the majority of the owners are Jewish and ‘rumor has it’ Jewish people take care of their own,” she added. “I’m actually quite envious of them. I think its dope!”

Grimes also posted several tweets denying that she was anti-Semitic, saying that her intention had only been to insult “two people,” Ross and Tannenbaum. “I dont hate anyone,” she wrote on Twitter.

“If what I said is racist or anti-Semitic, why isn’t it also racist to only hire their own?” Grimes said in comments to ESPN. “America is just an easily offended, fake reacting, bunch of cry baby a– p——! Anyone that thinks I’m a racist needs to build a f—— bridge and get over it. I’m not a racist, I’m a realist.”

Among those who criticized Grimes for being anti-Semitic, not to mention cavalier about her husband’s football career, was Jay Glazer, the Fox Sports NFL reporter who is of immediate relation to the Bucs’ owners. He posted this comment to Twitter: “At this point I’m asking @iheartmiko… please SHUT THE F— UP! Sincerely, the Jew buddy of ur husbands who first got him trained in MMA.” That earned Glazer this reply:


“Your husband spilled blood out there, NOT YOU!” Glazer wrote in response. “He’s the one who worked his a–, I saw his work ethic first-hand. Your attention-whore antics only makes a great player undesirable, which is a disservice to your whole family and his legacy. Great player [with] a wife who just won’t shut the f— up and let the man do what he’s meant to do. Once again, signed his “Jew buddy” who got him trained in MMA in Atlanta when he first shined.”

After Brent Grimes signed with the Bucs in March — two days after the Dolphins released him — his wife quit Twitter, in a possible attempt to help him get off on the right foot with his new employer. She is back with, quite literally, a vengeance, but in an apparent response to the furor her comments created, she made her Twitter and Instagram accounts private Monday, at least for the time being.



But Grimes made sure to note in one of her many Monday tweets that people would not “hear any of this [criticism of her husband’s team] while we’re in tampa.” The potential problem for her, and her spouse, is what the Bucs make of the criticism currently coming her way.

Mouth and attitude aside,,, Just appearance, I think she's attractive. Not a 10 but probably a solid 7.5 to 8.
