Browns make roster move
Posted 35 minutes ago
Clevelandbrowns.com @Browns Facebook
With the move, the Browns roster is currently at the maximum of 90 players
The Cleveland Browns have waived defensive back A.J. Stamps.
Stamps was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 5.
With the reinstatement of wide receiver Josh Gordon, the Browns roster is currently at the maximum of 90 players.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Was out golfing yesterday...and I still suck this year at it...lol
Had not clue about the Gordon news. My son called me as soon as I got in. "Did You hear the news?" No what...bad or good. He said, "Good I guess" and then clued me in.
Good news is that he is attending training camp and preseason games.
His Pro Bowl effort and NFL leading season after a 2 game suspension...he attended training camp and preseason games as well.
His terrible sucky return after a 10 game suspension with Hoyer at QB he did not attend training camp and he did have a clue on the plays...might have cost us a winning season as we went to him as if he was a savior or something.
I was in his corner for most of his problems...but I have no trust in him any more...Me on the negative...Murphy's Law should have him staying on course...lol
Curious if Pryor studs out in the 4 games...do we trade Gordon for maybe a 2nd rounder???
jmh???

Do the same rules apply for someone taken in the supplemental draft? I'm assuming so but I didn't see anything specific to those situations. yes

Wait, what will Josh be rolling? ...sorry, too obvious. I'm sure MKC said that on purpose.

His terrible sucky return after a 10 game suspension with Hoyer at QB he did not attend training camp and he did have a clue on the plays...might have cost us a winning season as we went to him as if he was a savior or something. That's exactly my take on him that year. At the time, I saw it as more of a problem with the coaching decisions than with him. He was understandable rusty but the coaches chose to highly depend on him immediately upon his return. Like you, I also have no trust in him. I am, however, glad to have him back and hopeful he can stay right and contribute.

As has been my opinion from the start, if he's reinstated, stays clean and produces... WONDERFUL.. If not, see ya later. I agree. I would have to assume this is his last, last, last chance. I mean honestly, he hasn't been 1/10th of the distraction Manziel was, which is why I assume he's still here. Well, that and he did, for a brief moment, look like he can produce when he's on the field. Plus, you can live with an unreliable knucklehead at WR more than you can at QB...

Gordon will be out a few weeks now
Browns place 4 players on PUP/NFI lists
The Cleveland Browns have placed DB Joe Haden (ankle) and TE Seth DeValve(hamstring) on active/physically unable to perform (PUP) and OL Conor Boffeli (knee/ankle) and WR Josh Gordon (quad) on active/non-football injury (NFI). Players on active PUP or NFI can't take part in on-field activities until they pass their physical. They are limited to strength and conditioning, rehab and meetings. Gordon, who was reinstated by the NFL on Monday, injured his quadriceps while working out on his own this summer. He's expected to be out for at least a couple of weeks while he recovers. Gordon was in Berea on Tuesday and met with Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown, coach Hue Jackson and other members of the organization. Haden continues to recover from an ankle injury he sustained in March and is working toward being ready for the 2016 season.

Seems like a convenient way to get Gordon in camp, but use his roster spot on someone else.

I think that players on PUP still count against the 90 man roster, don't they? (and the rest of the preseason roster limits as well)

I thought they didn't count against you until they came off the PUP? Gordon shouldn't count for our number anyways due to suspension, right? His situation is so weird who can keep track

Gordon counted on the roster the minute his suspension was made and he was aloud to attend training camp and preseason games. We were at 90 and cut the last guy on the totem pole...a UDFA FA CB Stamps.
I got no clue on the pup thing...it makes sense that they will not count for a roster spot till they get off the PUP lists. Which means we have room for 4 more to get into camp.

PUP and NFI players do not count against the 90 man roster, so once Gordon was placed on the PUP Stamps could have been recalled.

He wasn't good when he played his last season and hasn't done anything of significance in 3 years.
I expect more let down from Josh.

That's entirely possible (likely?). However, I expect to see a focused and hard-working Josh that knows he is on his absolute last chance.
If he EVER wants to see another contract in this league, he has to be squared away, stay that way, AND he has to absolutely light it up this year.
I think we'll see some SuperFreak.

I'm curious about something too.
Since his actual suspension isn't up until week 5, could the Browns even cut him if they wanted to?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I'm glad they can't/won't, too. We've stuck with him this far - what would be the sense in cutting bait now?

I don't know that there would be. I'm just kind of wondering out loud.
The only thing I can think of is to date we have 14 drafted rookies plus UDFA signings. There may be something to be said about sending a message to the team that the Browns simply won't tolerate such foolish behavior on this team.

We've been stuck with Gordon, we haven't been stuck with him. If we could have cut him or traded him, we would have done so a long time ago.

I think 2015 humbled Josh Gordon. Having Jim Brown as a Voice of reason just a phone call away certinally helps and just that extra support from a HOF....big bonus. I expect Josh to be a man of his word and show Browns fan The kind of elite WR he is. This isn't the same selfish toxic team from 2014 that had locker room Cancers Josh will perform at a high level The Browns are desperate for playmakers

so the WRs who have a chance to be on the team:
Corey Coleman Josh Gordon Andrew Hawkins Taylor Gabriel Rashard Higgins Terrelle Pryor Jordan Payton Ricardo Louis Marlon Moore Darius Jennings
So that's 10 guys. We'll keep 6 on the active roster. Most likely we will keep 7 to start the year, and put one of them on the PS after week 4 when Gordon returns. So, who do we keep/cut/put on the PS?
My guess is we keep: 1. Coleman 2. Hawkins 3. Pryor 4. Higgins 5. Payton 6. Moore
We cut: 1. Gabriel 2. Jennings
We PS: 1. Louis
And then when Gordon returns we either: 1. put Payton on the PS 2. cut Moore if another WR shows special teams prowess

Think you nailed it.
Only WR I think we would be able to tuck away on the PS is Louis. Someone would take Payton quick!
Once Gordon is back:
Gordon Hawkins (or Gabriel) Can go either way, but not both. Coleman Pryor Higgins Payton
PS - Louis

I think the Jim Brown factor is completely overrated in this situation. He was 'hired' in 2013 to do this very thing...what the hell has he accomplished? Nothing.
Jim Brown is nothing more than the figure he never wanted to be...an old dude shaking hands and smiling at games.
Josh Gordon will be the only true influence that make the change. Being around the facility and with teammates is good medicine but not the solution. And the solution certainly isn't some 80+ year old guy living in Los Angeles who flies to Cleveland a few times a year.

I am of the same opinion.... Teams around the league are certainly intrigued by Josh Gordon, but he holds no realistic trade value. https://twitter.com/brentsobleski/status/758643498820202500I, however, would have added "right now" to the end of that tweet. But maybe that's implied.
