The best team ever in the best conference ever. To think, If we would have beaten Michigan State last year, we would have won the first two titles in the playoff era. I guess thats part of the challenge in being in the best college football conference in the country.

http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state...otball-ranking. Granted, the PAC 12 will always have USC, but historically that's not as good of a conference as the BIG. The SEC currently has Alabama, but again, the SEC is not nearly as good of a conference as the BIG. - Historically nor currently. The Big 12 has Texas, and Oklahoma but again, the conference they play in is not nearly as good as the BIG.

Here's the article:

Ohio State's college football history sits among the titans of the sport. Now we know exactly where it ranks among the other giants in the all-time rankings, at least according to the Associated Press.

The Buckeyes are ranked No. 1 in the AP's first-ever all-time college football ranking, released Tuesday. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama and USC round out the top five. You can see the top 100 here.

The all-time list is based off total poll appearances, number of times the AP ranked each school No. 1 overall in addition to AP national championships.

Ohio State has 852 total appearances in the poll, or 77.24 percent. The Buckeyes were ranked No. 1 a total of 105 times, the most ever, and owns five AP National Championships, with the most recent coming in 2014.

There are only three seasons in which the Buckeyes did not appear at least once in the poll since its inception with a ranking of the nation's top-20 teams on Oct. 19, 1936.

The poll reduced to 10 from 1961-67. Eventually, it expanded to 25 teams ahead of the 1989 season. The current AP Top 25 is determined on how each voter ranks the best teams in college football. A first place vote earns 25 points for a team, second place receives 24 and so on.

The first edition of the AP Top 25 ahead of the 2016 season is set to be released Aug. 21.

The top two programs of all-time according to the AP, Ohio State and Oklahoma, face off on the gridiron in Norman, Oklahoma, Sept. 17. The Buckeyes also face five other teams in the AP's all-time top-25 in 2016: Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Nebraska and Michigan.

I say that's about right. OSU is as prestigious in ncaaf as it gets

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

You forgot the obnoxious THE in your thread title, Muni tongue

Kidding. I've got family attending OSU now. Still won't root for them, but Myer did wonders for the program. Still love the hypocrisy of many hating Meyer and that "dirty SEC football", but now tons cheer him.

Rockets at #76, and the highest ranked Mid-American Conference program.

I still dont really like Urban, but love what he has done for THE Team. But doesnt it make sense that people wouldnt cheer for him when he was the coach of another team?? But cheer for him when he is the coach of Their team?

Sort of like LeBron James leaving and then coming back.

Burnt old jerseys just to buy new ones! lol

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Fluff.

No doubt when you go back to leather helmets and no facemasks included, the Big 10 is the best conference, and OSU has to be considered at the top Michigan might be tied or pretty close.

I'm the football beat writer for Eleven Warriors, but also dabble in some hoops coverage. Prior to joining the team here, I covered basketball and football for theOzone.net and was the Sports Editor at The Lantern my senior year at Ohio State. I try to appreciate excellent reporting through a passion for journalism and the truth — whether good or bad. If you have any tips or questions, send them my way at eric@elevenwarriors.com.

That said, I did say that from a historical basis the Big 10 is very probably the top conference and OSU is no doubt considered at least one of the two cream teams in that conference...and I agree, I do think them better than Mich. over the last maybe 120 years since the Big 10 formed.

Oh please, overall Floridas little run of being good was a blip on the radar of college football.

All's cool man. I don't really care. It's a lot like talking about who was better. Ali or Tyson? Nicklaus or Woods? Thus it is a feel good story.

Fluff.

I heard about this but didn't pay much attention to it... they were talking about it on the radio and how silly the scoring system was... if you won the national championship you got 2 points for that, if you finished between 2 and 25 you got 1 point? So finishing 25th in the country gets you half the number of points of finishing first?

LOL....I never mentioned my team. I don't consider the Gators in the all-time class as the Bucks. I was a Buck fan before you were a Buck fan. I just lost a little of my luster for the Bucks when a large base of the fans started acting like Steeler fans

How can it be "fluff" if it was not written by someone who is employed --or is a shill--for Ohio State.

I'm not saying they are the greatest college football program of all-time, but your rhetoric sounds like sour grapes.

"Fluff" doesn't mean the same as "Biased"..

It's "Fluff" because they took a rather arbitrary grading system over 80 years and assigned points to different programs. It's an interesting conversation starter and I'm sure that in any survey you could come up with you would get roughly the same top 10..

But the fact is that football and how it's reported and how the polls are done has changed dramatically in 80 years...

Nobody, well at least not me, is ragging on OSU or saying they don't deserve to be high on the list or even #1.. but it's like arguing who the greatest point guard of all time is.. it's a neat academic discussion but it's not like there is a real "right answer"..

I think OSU is definitely in consideration for the top spot. The program has had great teams in every decade and is about as consistent as you can get. Add that to the national titles, heisman winners/candidates, popularity of brand, yearly rankings, etc ... it's tough to pick a "BEST" team, but I wouldn't argue that OSU isn't it

It is credited by a fellow named Segar....a Big OSU fan...I posted the info. Lot's of PD writers as an example who don't work for the Browns write fluff articles about the Browns.

I have been to Columbus, but not a great deal. I understand the Steeler part. There are a lot of Steeler fans in any neutral bar in America.

Where did I rip on OSU? I may have ripped on some of the fans by comparing them to Steeler fans....I at no point said I disagreed with the take of the article. I may have questioned it based on motive of the OSU dude who posted this up.

I didn't miss the post on where it came from. I simply point out who is pimping it...I expect fans to pimp their team. I get it. I wouldn't expect a fan to call his team crap and full of bad players and one of the all time worst.

That's not being a fan at all.

You take anything objective or less than glowing about OSU as ripping on them.. I can't help that. Which is exactly what Peen was referencing earlier about OSU fans being like Steeler fans..

We both agreed that OSU belongs at or near the top. If you want to take this unscientific little exercise as some kind of definitive conclusion of absolute truth, have at it.
