Didn't Shefty directly say it came from the Browns Organization? What wouldn't make sense is why would the Front Office say "We're getting offers, but we're not interested" to DRUM UP interest? Isn't that counter-intuitive? If teams were interested in Gordon before, they probably would of asked by now. They're not going to say, "Oh you don't want to trade him? Well lets make an offer then!"

He said a Browns 'source'....that doesn't necessarily mean the Browns organization. That could literally be a reporter, an agent, a player, a player's relative, etc. Anyone that has ties to the football team.

With the media these days ... it could be anyone that put on a hat that said "Browns" on it. tongue

You guys are debating something that will never, ever officially be known.

And over a dude who's been suspended 27 games out of the last 32 games.

yeah, trading him would be a mistake purely because of what he can do .... and I get that he's a risk

We are scheduled to have 16 draft picks. At what point do we stop accumulating picks and actually acquire players? There's a very small chance a guy that we end up picking late can replace Gordon.

Can you imagine if Gordon does return to his playing form? With him, Pryor, GB and our backs it could be a top 10 O. Of course we need our QB to play well too!!

I would not want to be a 5"10 inch 180 pound DB trying to defend Josh

Vers/Pit - I can see both sides of this .. So the question becomes ..

WHAT IS HIS WORTH ... What's the least you take for him .. Draft picks only ..

IMHO you simply can't trade him because the same gamble we made we we drafted him still applies. If he doesn't work out then oh well. His talent makes him worth the risk.

I never said we should trade him. I have just maintained that the Browns would be smart to see what his value actually is and that I do not believe that any team would be dumb enough to offer a first or second round pick for him.

Randy Freaking Moss fetched a 4th and 7th.

Can't trade him, he's home-grown talent they have to re-sign and over pay him.

Source: Browns' Josh Gordon to stay on reserve/suspended list

Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon will remain on the reserve/suspended list until further notice, a league source told ESPN's Field Yates.

Gordon, who was conditionally suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season, recently checked into an inpatient rehabilitation facility, citing a need to "gain full control of my life."

Gordon could have been reinstated Monday, but the suspension has not been lifted, the source said.

The Browns have made it clear they are moving on without Gordon, who was suspended for the entire 2015 season for multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policies.

Gordon's off-field issues began in college. The talented yet troubled wideout was dismissed from the teams at Baylor and Utah for failing drug tests. The Browns selected him in the second round of the 2012 supplemental draft.

The NFL suspended Gordon for 10 games in 2014 for violating the substance abuse policy, and the Browns suspended him for the season finale for missing the final walk-through the day before. The NFL also suspended him for two games in 2013 for violations of the substance abuse policy.

The Browns welcomed Gordon back after the 2015 suspension, but they also drafted four receivers and gave ex-quarterback Terrelle Pryor a full look at the position.

Hue Jackson pretty much said Gordon is done.. Probably just waiting until they are allowed to cut him, just like Manziel.

Perhaps, but I feel for the kid. He's got a problem. Not sure anyone but him can fix it. But I still don't wish ill on him.

Not defending his actions because he actually broke the rules.. Rules that are as clear as day.

I wish they would give the reason why it hasn't been lifted, rather than just saying it wasn't.

I am OK moving on if we can. Is our move in part because he is in treatment? Does that prevent a release? He is ours officially for now, so can he be traded or do we have to wait for him A) to leave treatment, B) have the suspension lifted officially, or C) both/neither? Wondering also if his agent is involved in any of these decisions.

Think this is the end of him with us, another experiment that ends in an asterisk.

No hate here; we need to go without him cutting our throats again IMO.

Privacy and hippa laws. They can't legally give a detailed reason.

But here is a clue.

Steps up to the podium........

"Hello my name is Josh Gordon and I'm an alcoholic"

Response.....

"Hi Josh, welcome to our meeting"

Josh.....

"Has anyone seen my little friend Johnny football?"

My guess is Josh Gordon has to pass a drug test in order to have his suspension lifted. I also believe he knows he cannot pass which is why he elected to go to rehab now instead of at anytime during the past year or so that he has been suspended.
