If Trump wants permission to do anything with Mexico the president isn't the right guy to ask. There's about 17 different cartels he needs to ask first.
Also, surprise, Mexico doesn't want to pay for the wall.
In the Election thread (K9 Forum) 10 people said they would vote for her. You have to be die-hard to even suggest voting for her.
Over the top exaggeration.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Total plan for immigration tonight, I've yet to see Hillary give a speech or press conference like this yet. Still don't know her plan for immigration or what her stance is on security of borders? Is it none?

Here it is, or, there it was.........no wonder she doesn't speak on it - she herself doesn't know what her plan is.

So his plan is to militarize law enforcement even more with a new task force (costing more money). Then make Mexico pay for the wall (after the president just flat out said he's not). Nobody has ever came up with a response to the fact people will just dig tunnels and get ladders. People break out of prison, you don't think Cartels with billions of dollars will find a way to circumvent it?
I agree with getting rid of violent offenders, but that aspect is not any different than what Obama is doing.

The invite by the Mexican President was extended to both. I believe HRC is scheduled to meet with him soon (tomorrow?).
1995. President Clinton wants to stop illegal immigrants, and he gets applauded.
Trump says it, and he's racist? How do you guys pick and choose?
As with pretty much everything he says...it is the insensitive, fear fueled, xenophobic uneducated language Trump chooses to use. Huge difference.
And to be fair, I was 8 years old when that happened. My bad for not posting on DT about it.

Oh. My bad. Just a couple of years ago when hillary called young blacks "super predators", that wasn't insensitive, fear fueled, xenophobic, or uneducated.
Got it. Yet people support her, and tear Trump down for saying basically, on illegal immigrants, the exact same thing hillary has said, and bill has said.
It's just weird to me how hillary supporters completely ignore her past. But, I get it. Hillary has a "d" behind her, and, she's a clinton. Her lies don't matter, her calling out blacks as super predators doesn't matter. Her voting for, and wanting a fence doesn't matter.
Israeli Company Wants to Build Trump's Mexico Border Wall
Tuesday, August 09, 2016 | Israel Today Staff
The Israeli company that constructed the security barrier surrounding the Gaza Strip says it is eager to make Donald Trump’s proposed Mexico border wall a reality, should the Republican candidate win the White House in November.
“We’ve done it in the past, and we would definitely want to do it,” Saar Koursh, owner of Magal Security Systems Ltd., told Bloomberg last month. “The border business was down, but then came ISIS and the Syrian conflict. The world is changing, and borders are coming back big time.”
Koursh noted that in addition to the Gaza barrier, his company has built “smart fences” along Israel’s borders with Egypt and Jordan, and has been contracted to help protect the borders of Kenya, Somalia and other African nations.
Magal specializes in sophisticated border systems that include visual monitoring, as well as ground sensors and motion detection.

Got it.
It was. And, I agree that comment was all of the above. Although, it wasn't a "couple years ago" it was actually 1996. But, it was offensive nonetheless.
However, that is not what I initially replied to. You didn't compare HRC's comment to Trump. You made a direct comparison to Bill Clinton in 1995 to Trump's comments in 2016.

I really hate having to defend Trump .... but I wasn't aware they he has said that he will have them do the work ..... just that they are lobbying for the job from afar.
That said, I could certainly think of worse companies with which to consult.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
I am not a fan of Donald Trump, by any means ..... but today gave me some hope that he won't be a complete disaster if he wins. I thought that he did a good job in Mexico, with el Presidente de Mexico, and looked the part, with a thoughtful speech. I also happen to think that we need to do something about our borders, and to get the millions of illegals into the system somehow. They should not get citizenship though, and any system that legalizes them to stay and work in the US should also improve E-Verify, so that the same Social Security Number cannot be used by 200 different people without anyone catching on. It should also include heavy penalties for employers who do not verify the eligibility of the people they hire for work in the US. (with records of the employees' i-9 forms, and copies of their identifying qualified forms, like driver's license, passport, birth certificate, etc) Heck, running a restaurant I had to not only obtain these forms at the time of hire, but also had to track when a license expired, for example, and get a copy of the new one. If someone didn't have the new qualifying identification for me within a week of it expiring, I had to take them off the schedule. It was a pain, but most of the employees caught on really quickly, in that there was no screwing around as to this matter.
Anyway. I agree with a physical boundary, and also electronic means of detection, along with increased use of border agents. If we are going to be serous about controlling our southern border, then that is exactly what we should do.
I do agree with Trump that this should be a priority, though without the bombast that he projects.

I will wait to see when it happens. All I know is the policies we have in place for immigration need reformed\changed because they're not good enough. For some reason I see Clinton not being very tough on immigration, and that is a deal breaker for me.
Just searching around and found some views on this website, don't like a defending stance on using government executive action. That is shady to me at least.
So, Trump says something, and he gets railed on for it. When Hillary said basically the same thing a few years ago, it was good? Or do Clinton supporters just ignore it?
Or, when Clinton flip flops, it's a good thing, but if Trump did, it's a bad thing.
Several major Latino surrogates for Donald Trump are reconsidering their support for him following his hardline speech on immigration Wednesday night. Jacob Monty, a member of Trump's National Hispanic Advisory Council, has resigned, and Alfonso Aguilar, the president of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, said in an interview that he is "inclined" to pull his support. "I was a strong supporter of Donald Trump when I believed he was going to address the immigration problem realistically and compassionately," said Monty, a Houston attorney who has aggressively made the Latino case for Trump. "What I heard today was not realistic and not compassionate." He withdrew from the board following Trump's speech in Phoenix, which emphasized that all immigrants in the country illegally were subject to deportation.
Turns out that Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, might not have been the only model to have skirted immigration laws when first working in the United States, Mother Jones reported Tuesday. Interviews with three former models who had been signed to work for Trump Model Management all claim that not only did the agency actively bring models to the U.S. to work illegally without the proper visas necessary for such work, but it also helped models avoid compliance with immigration laws and housed models in tenementlike dorms while charging them exorbitant rent prices.
The women, two of whom agreed to speak on condition of anonymity, claim they were told by Trump Model Management to lie to customs officials when entering the U.S. about the nature of their travel to the country and where they would be living throughout their stay.
One of the models says that she repeatedly asked agency staffers when she would be able to work legally in the United States. After her questions were avoided for weeks, she says she was ultimately told two days before her scheduled departure for the U.S. to get a tourist visa — a visa that does not permit its holder to legally work — and the agency would work things out later. She says no further action was ever taken by the agency to secure the necessary visas and documentation for her to work legally.
All three also say Trump Model Management sponsored only legal work visas for its top moneymakers.
Additionally, they describe the Trump Model Management apartment as a two-floor, three-bedroom apartment in New York City’s East Village. A representative for the modeling agency lived on the ground floor in one of the bedrooms and the two remaining bedrooms were filled with a total of 5 sets of bunk beds, they say. A mattress on the floor of the common room provided an additional bed. The models say the apartment could be occupied by 11 or more models at a time, and they report paying $1,200 to $1,600 a month rent to Trump Model Management, not the landlord, to live in the crowded quarters, amounts far above the average rent prices at the time for a studio apartment in the same neighborhood.
Rachel Blais in 2011. (Photo: Getty Images) Rachel Blais, the one model who spoke on the record, told Mother Jones that Trump Model Management is “the most crooked agency I’ve ever worked for, and I’ve worked for quite a few.”
Mother Jones reached out to the Trump campaign and spokeswoman Hope Hicks declined to comment. “That has nothing to do with me or the campaign,” she said. Hicks directed any questions regarding the matter to the modeling agency, which did not respond to multiple requests to be quoted.
There are two types of work visas available for foreign models wishing to legally work in the United States, the H-1B3 and the O-1. Both require that applicants demonstrate marked success and exceptional ability in their field to qualify, making these visas more difficult to attain for models at the beginning of their careers who are hoping to gain traction through working in the United States. Both also require the sponsorship of a U.S. employer — or in the case of most models, their U.S.-based agency.
Republican presidential nominee and former reality television star Donald Trump owns an 85 percent stake in Trump Model Management and has earned almost $2 million from the company, according to financial records disclosed by his campaign this spring.

Trump's present wife got a U.S. work visa without a job. But nobody cared about illegals back then and besides she was hot. Now let's see Hillary's personal emails damn it!!!
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.
I've wondered how anybody who has a set of basic instincts could not have suspected that stuff like this was just beneath the surface with this dude.
And before ANYONE tosses up a Hillary comparison, consider this: I haven't slammed her because everything that I could say has already been said by others. I don't like her. I don't expect to cast my vote for her. And I haven't supported her in any way at the boards.
Now that I have that out of the way, I'll also say this:
I was raised to detect a shady con man from a city block away, and the first time I ever saw this dude on TV, I had him pegged. He's the kind of man who sees people as members of 2 camps: 1. Rivals to be bested 2. Marks to be hustled. Those are his only two gears.
If you are a citizen who is voting for him as a protest against Hillary Clinton, so be it. Such is your prerogative. But it's high time people stop trying to defend/explain away/rationalize the stuff this guy is about. If ANY of us had someone like him as a neighbor, we'd keep as much distance from him as we could... and we'd check our backyard fences every day.
This isn't even about politics any more. This is about personal character. I won't support in any way someone whom I do not respect on any level.
Oh boy Clem,, it's certainly true that both of them are characters alright?
This is the worst field of candidates I think I've ever seen in my lifetime. I'm speaking of Trump and Clinton. IMO, both are horrible, but for different reasons.

And, yet, people are still fighting the notion of even considering a 3rd party option like Johnson - someone that actually has legitimate experience in government.

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
Clem, I just have this feeling that, by election time, 1 of the candidates will have been found to be not only negligent and ignorant, but criminal in her (did I just give it away?) dealings.
Of course, that candidate wields mighty power, so that fact can't be left unstated.
There are things floating around. We'll see if they land, right?
The thing about HRC that baffles me is this: suspicion and controversy have been attached to her for 30+ years. I would think that by now, SOMETHING would have stuck. It sure hasn't been from want of trying. I'm as familiar as anyone else with the phrase "Where there's smoke, there's fire," but I also wonder how much of the relentless 30-year attention is political theater. Probably a bit of both- but in what percentages? [shrugs]
With Trump, he's never seen the inside of a jail, either. Both have a stink attached to them.
As far as 'leadership' is concerned, I'll put it this way: Clinton has a history of being mostly centrist in her domestic policies, which doesn't really bother me at all. At times, she's been too hawkish in international affairs for my tastes, which is a concern. She has a few leftist positions that I don't share, but I'm not convinced that she'd actually get too many of them pushed through. On the other hand, what scares the pants off me is how reckless and unprepared Trump seems. He bristles at the slightest criticism, bangs out these "7th grade 'mean girl' tweets," and shows a complete disdain for anyone who isn't him/his. This is a character profile that makes him wholly unsuitable as a head of state, AFAIC.
Just another .02. Others' mileage may vary... and I'm no expert. All I know is that I wouldn't trust this guy at my backyard barbecue, so I DAMSHO don't want to entrust the entire free world to him.

You describe hillary, and then say "I'm not convinced she's actually get too many of those things pushed through", and you dismiss the concerns.
And then you turn around and describe Trump, and assume he'd get everything pushed through.
Hillary has sold her position before - it's proven. She lambastes anyone and anything in her way. It's proven. Yet that's okay? You'd be okay with her selling our soul? Because she will, she's sold as much as she can already.
