I gave up trying to think the Browns could win on opening days.
Especially with a new head coach. And, oh, This is the first start in a Browns uniform for this veteran quarterback.
A few years ago after a loss to Tampa Bay I think. ( I started to believe the Browns are so dysfunctional, the Akron Zipps might be able to beat them on opening day.
Philly! Plays better at home! That is almost a defining characteristic of their franchise, over a many year span.
NFL teams, play inspired in their home openers.
Probably Eagles win, 31-X. X =?, probably less than 17, probably doesn't matter. Take Vegas' money, they don't understand Cleveland.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

the problem is, I don't see any of the rookie WRs being more than average for a while. sure, they might work out, but it's not like they'll be instant playmakers.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Especially Payton, Louis, Higgins, and Devalve ... I would bet none of those 4 has more than 30 catches this season

It is so hard to know what will happen with our WR corps.
Will Coleman show progress as a receiver, and be able to really seize one of the starting jobs?
Will Pryor also show progress, and grab the other job?
Will Gordon return to form, and be able to play the rest of the season, without interruption, following his return from suspension?
What role will Hawkins play, as he finally returns from injury?
Any or all of these players could all be ahead of Higgins over the course of the 1st half of the season. Injuries could easily force one of the rookies into a more prominent role. Both Hawkins and Coleman have missed a fair amount of preseason time with injuries.
It should be an interesting group to watch.

Browns win 37-27. I'm expecting that both teams combined don't total more than 37 points, possibly not even 27.

no doubt the WR corp is THE most entertaining group to watch progress this year ... it's one of the main reasons I'll watch when the games don't matter

Eagles 17-9. No, it's not 3 FGs but a missed XP.

Wentz is not good.
Washington, Buffalo, and the Jets play well.
Browns are in 1st place of the AFC North!
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I feel as though I must predict a Browns victory. While their D isn't weak, it is only average. Wentz has zero experience and very few reps with the 1's.
If we can't beat these guys, we can't beat anyone.
I believe the team and the staff realizes this is the best opportunity they have at a victory and will pull out all of the stops. A loss would be heartbreaking to all of them and things would only go down hill from there.
Browns 24 Iggles 17
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

It is the 1st game of a new season. We have tons of new players. I don't think that this is some must win.
Hue Jackson's offense has a lot of verbiage, and all of the players need to be on the same page. Horton's defense is very complex, and he doesn't ease his players in, but throws everything at them from day one and let's them learn as they go. His defenses typically get better as the year progresses.
From last year to this, we will have new:
QB: RG3 WR: Coleman WR: Pryor (yeah, he was here, but he had only 1 catch) C: Erving RT: Pasztur DE: Cooper OLB: Ogbah ILB: Davis OLB: Schobert SS: Campbell CB: Taylor PK: Murray P: Colquitt
And those are just the starters. 13 new starters this year, and 6 of them are either rookies, or 2nd year players, and 1 more is in his 2nd season in a completely new position. (Pryor)
Our primary backups are also very young, and new to the team. Drango, Coleman, Bailey, Telfer, Louis, Paea, Meder, Nassib, Lemonier, Scooby, Orchard, Howard, Kindred, and Atkinson are all listed as 2nd team at their positions. (Atkinson is listed as the #2 KR)
This team is going to need time to come together. They are going to have to learn how to play together. Frankly, it would shock me more if they managed to win this game, or really any game in the 1st half or so of the season.

Browns 26 Eagles 16
A lot of FGs as both defenses struggle and give up a lot of yards but both offenses struggle in/around the red zone.

It's the season opener, which consistently equates to a loss.
Our starting wide receivers have a combined total of two catches in the NFL. Our QB hasn't played a meaningful down in the NFL in two years. The defense has looked atrocious.
I expect to see a heavy dose of Mathews and Sproles.
Eagles - 27
Browns - 16

You can spin it all you like. The Eagles will have the most inexperienced QB we will see all season.
EVERY OTHER team we face will have a more experienced offense.
We have almost 20 rookies on our roster. While they may improve, it won't be the improvement we will see with more experienced teams will be playing over the course of the year.
The team and the coaches know this. Obviously we have a difference of opinion. I believe a loss in this game would be more deflating than Tom Brady's ball boy.

omg this is a tough question to answer. My heart says we lose. (tradition for 1st game). but for the first time in awhile i am starting to think we are pointed in the right direction.
shoot.....ugh...sigh...ok...
My mind is telling me that we win this one finally.
Pryor gets one deep ball 49 yard catch. barnidge 30 yard strike for td. higgans gets some balls....crow gets 80 yards. coleman finally steps up.
Browns win 23-20 side note Nassib gets 2 sacks
I bet you're wondering the samething I did, why O' why didn't I take the...blue pill

Browns 31-13.
Pryor has over 100 yards receiving, Coleman ends up with around 60 yards receiving and 30 yards rushing.
Nassib and ogbah combine for 4-5 sacks.
Haden gets a pick 6. Love that optimism, Swish!

I won't bother talking about our O. Our D is borderline 3rd-string on any Superbowl contender.
I always hope for wins but we will lose.

I'm going to hesitantly call this a win for the Browns.
I think our offense will be surprisingly decent, and our defense will be be unsurprisingly poor, but with a ton of effort.

The Browns need to play like they have nothing to lose.
That said Eagles 31-13.
Happy as hell that the eagles decided to go with the rookie Bradford would have made this a great Eagles team with him gone they will be a middle of the road team which helps us with their draft pick.

On offense, pretty simple, keep our QB clean.

I know most of you will disagree however, I believe that with the utter disrespect the team is being given, especially that they are to young and not equal in the eyes of veteran teams, they will be coming out like gang busters to prove themselves. I stated in another thread that the comments made by one reporter needed to be posted to every defensive players helmet just before the game to add fuel to a fire. RGIII has every reason to be lighting this Philadelphia D up as low ranking as they were last year against the pass. I think we burn them badly with the long ball and the D hurts them early.
