Doesn't count when you do it in Div II. Automatic algorithm downgrade.

This is the part where a FO that values numbers over scouting fails. Not drafting Wentz will get them out of the league in a hurry and it will be remembered as "hey, remember whent the Browns hired those moneyball guys? So desperate, lol". Just another sad footnote in Browns history

Can we not talk about Wentz like he was some slam dunk prospect?

Signing Wentz would have done nothing for us because we would not have the supporting cast to prop him up.

The thing that annoys me is the "average fan" that makes fun of the Browns knowing damn well they had never even heard of Wentz until just before the Draft..

I did that in January, here on this board...you could see it on tape, IF you saw both in college. But I honestly believe that our FO hasn't watched any college QB before the 2016 draft to be able to make that comparison.

So. What's your point? It's their job to know. The "average fan" as you say has their job to do as well. Knowing each and every college qb and their skill set is not the fans job.

People are talking about Wentz as if BEFORE THE DRAFT, he was an Andrew Luck type pick..

He wasnt, wasnt even close..

It's official. That TD to Sproles, evading the blitzer by stepping up into the pocket, escaping and then finding the open man downfield was Roethlisberger all over again, as a vet. He wasn't close to this good as a rookie yet. The sky is the limit for Wentz.

Philly pouring it on Pitt! Got to say I like seeing it. Wentz was a big miss, wow who knew?

BUT the real story is how bad the Steelers are. We played better than them, but we won't be able to beat them.

The colts have three rookie O linemen protecting Luck.

This was as bad as I have ever seen a Steeler team play.

Its embarrassing.

Next week we will see if they are shell shocked or will bounce back.

I've never in my life seen a network change from a Steelers game to a more "relevant" one.. this is crazy.

Brings me a little joy smile

And this is why I guess I need to fire all of the scouts who work for me full time scouting talent.

This is THE most ridiculous argument I've heard for not taking him yet, Jerrod Cherry was trying to float this brand of BS last week after they beat the Bears, back when he still hadn't beaten a "good" team. rolleyes

First of all, Prior, Coleman, Barnidge, Crow & Duke, and eventually Gordon are plenty of weapons support, and would have made Wentz look even better without all the drops he's had to put up with.

Secondly, the o-line has been playing reasonably well, and would look even better if they didn't have to block for three separate guys who hold onto the ball for four seconds before unloading. If the line had a guy leading them who could call out protections at the line, make decisive throws, make good decisions with the ball, stand in and deliver under pressure, and get rid of it quickly, they would look like an all pro o-line. Wentz does all of those things exceptionally well.

Not specifically directed at you Eve, but I'm sick of the moronic excuses for why we shouldn't have taken him. They're all BS, and the FO $@#%ed it up, and screwed the fan base royally. End of story. It's freakin pathetic!

Edit: I realize we wouldn't have Coleman had we taken Wentz, it does not change my argument.

It is a ridiculous argument.

I'm at the point that I think we just have to figure out a way to move forward. We can't undo it.

But man, does it suck.
