So, we're rooting for the Braves, Blues Jays and Indians tomorrow. We would get home-field and not have to play Monday.

Well, well, looky here

Tribe holds a tenuous 1/2 game lead over Boston for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. One up in the loss column (just don't lose).

I do believe they call that "control of their own destiny".

Not that 3 out of 5 play-off games in Cleveland would assure anything. But it helps. (I think)

Does anybody know who would have home field against the Rangers if we end in a tie and win our first series?

I believe Rangers

Rangers have clinched home field throughout the post-season. Even if we end up tied with them at 95 wins, they beat us 5 out of 7 games this year.

I'm excited for Thursday. I haven't been able to watch this team on an every day basis, but I have followed them through social media and mlb network.

You really have to take your hat off to Tito for keeping that thing together. There were moments during the year where it could have fallen apart, because guys are getting hurt, or you have a few bad pitching outings. They didn't have a 4 game losing streak all year. He is one hell of a manager, and all I know is that he will have this team ready to go against Boston. I think there might be a rallying point for the guys because of the way Tito was not welcomed back to the Red Sox organization after 7 years and 2 world championships.

I think a lot of those guys that were around in 2013 probably still have a bad taste in their mouth after reeling off 10 straight only to get shut out in the playoff game.

so, what happens if Texas loses and we were to win tomorrow's game?

would we get home field in the AL? or would we lose some sort of tie breaker?

Texas Rangers 95 66 .590
x -Cleveland Indians 94 67 .584

we still have 1 game left.

if Texas loses we would be 95-67

if we win tomorrow we would be 95-67

No reason to play tomorrow's game. Texas holds the tiebreaker against us, Detroit is officially eliminated and we clinched home field against Boston. Regular season over.

well, now it's tied 4-4 and it was 4-2 so, my question may be a moot point.

We don't play the game tomorrow. We can't beat Texas in the tie-breaker, and Boston can't wind up with a better record than us. Detroit is also out of the playoffs so there's no need for it.

Which works out great for us. One less flight/game, plus home field.

I could not have dreamed in my wildest imagination that the Indians would sweep the Royals in Kansas City to end the season.

With their #2 & #3 starters out no less.

Catch is, we'd want the 2012-15 McCutchen, not the 2016 McCutchen. Well, it's not that he sucked this season, but he had a down year compared to the previous four years. And is that a trend?

“Now if our offense can give them more than one or two runs of support a game, we should be on the right side of the win/loss column.”

waterdawg (2/24/16)

“How long has this team gone with out a true clean-up, number 4 spot hitter ??? How about a half ass right handed power guy ! That my friend is a FO problem . I yes I understand the restraints of being a small market Team ..”

PrplPplEater (3/4/16)

“Hey, these guys ain't so stinkin' bad!”

“Well it wasn't pretty , but it was win #1 of the new season !”.

Punchsmack (4/7/16)

“The Padres are on pace to give up 1,350 runs this season and score 0.”

(editor’s note - actual Padres runs allowed and scored in 2016 = 739 and 666 )

waterdawg (4/12/16)

“And why are Byrd and Uribe on this team ?”

(editor’s note - not any more)

BuckDawg1946 (5/1/16)

“Ouch, don't get swept “

RocketOptimist (5/7/16)

“...and now we send down Naquin?!”

YTownBrownsFan(5/11/16)

“Kluber has been a hard luck kid so far, and is 2-4.
Carrasco is 2-0
Salazar is 3-2, but carries a 1.91 ERA.
Bauer is 3-0
Tomlin is 5-0

So these 5 starters are a combined 15-6 so far. That ain't bad”

columbusdawg (5/16/16)

“Why the #$%##@% can't we beat the stinkin' Twins. Ugh - so frustrating. I know the Reds are bad, but so are the Twins!”

Bard Dawg (5/16/16)

“Last time I peeked it was 12-0 good guy's “

TI84 Plus (5/24/16)

“1.5 games back.

AL central is going to be a dog fight this year. I think all teams are within 3 games of each other (Twins don't count).”

“My "season" ticket package starts on Saturday! I'm excited”

TI84 Plus (5/28/16)

cfrs15 (6/2/16)

“Lindor is a special, special player.”

kwhip (6/5/16)

“Is this correct?

Chisenhall hitting .288?”

Excldawg (6/10/16)

“Logan Ice ... Too bad he's not a pitcher. That would be the perfect name for your Closer.”

W84NxtYrAgain (6/12/16)

“And my thought, as I watched, was "Why wasn't he wearing a cup?"” (“Mike Trout broke Juan Uribe's nuts.”)

Ballpeen (6/21/16)

“Capacity now is 35-36,000.

While I don't expect sell-outs like happened in the early 90's, the team is playing well enought to draw 30,000 per game.

Baseball is the most affordable game to attend. My attitude is if you live in the area and consider yourself a fan, and don't go to a minimum of 4-5 games a year....you are just hot air.”

bigdatut (6/22/16)

“Attendance tonight = 21,216

What's wrong with you Indians fans?”

Dawgs4Life (6/25/16)

“wow four triples”

[b]ExclDawg
(6/28/16)

“Yikes ... not to get ahead of ourselves. But could you image going to the World Series and seeing the Bay area for another 7 game series? Or probably even better, Cubs vs Indians ... where ONE of us would have to win it? “

“Well regardless it's been a fun week and a half to be a Cleveland fan.”

RocketOptimist (7/4/16)

(during 2 ½ hour rain delay -at night!)

CleVeLaNd sTrife (7/20/16)

“Tribe have a 7.5 game lead on the Tigers. Is this the largest the division lead has been?”

Punchsmack(7/31/16)

“We got Miller. Wow. “

YTownBrownsFan (8/11/16)

“Tribe's struggling, only up 8-2 going to the 4th”

Dawgs4Life (8/13/16)

“I'll try to make it, but I doubt I last past mid game”

(note: another late rain delayed Indians game)

Milk Man (8/14/16)

“Mejia extended his hitting streak to 50 games last night in his final at bat with 2 out in the 9th. His hit was initially ruled an error but later officially scored as a double.

As for the Tribe, let's get the sweep today! Headed up with the family, hopefully the rain holds off.”

GMDawg (8/26/16)

“We have 36 games left to play. So like I said almost 2 months ago "Keep enjoying Tribe baseball”

ledtheway (8/31/16)

“Crisp for oakland played mostly LF, CF and has been DH a bit recently. He still has decent speed, but offensively he's basically Brandon Guyer. He's good with RISP. Def. playoff tested and I think a good signing for stretch run”

nordawg (9/4/16)

“Another big win for the Tribe. It be nice to get hot and put alittle more distance between us and the Tigers and Royals.”

candyman92 (9/5/16)

“We need the leadtheway magic of stating how bad Cleveland teams suck so the Indians can win the World Series”

Dawgs4Life (9/.10/16)

“Indians are back to being hot...and finally shook off the Twins”

Jcamm (9/ 17/16)

“What the heck happened to Carlos, him and Salazar down yikes”

Jester (9/17/16)

“Come playoff time, he will get more rest between starts (assuming we keep a 4 man rotation). So I predict Tomlin will thrive come playoff time. Could be wishful thinking, but for that is my story and I'm sticking with it until proven other wise”

GratefulDawg (9/19/16)

“Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer labels beat writer Paul Hoynes a "coward"”

candyman92 (9/20/16)

“MAGIC NUMBER IS 6 BELIEVELAND”

Dave (9/24/16)

“Tigers lost to KC today, 7-4. Magic number is 2. Tribe plays tonight at 7:30. It would be nice if they could clinch at home tomorrow.”

Punchsmack (9/26/16)

“Clinched.”

PrplPplEater (9/26/16)

“The city of Detroit really has to hate Cleveland this year”

Day of the Dawg (9/26/16)

This is my personal favorite from the season. It's from the 4th of July delay when the game started at 9.
