I can remember, years ago, when Pat Robertson was at his peak on tv with the 700 club. A fierce storm named Gloria was bearing down on Virginia Beach, Virginia, his home area. Pat said on tv that he would go out and rebuke the storm in the name of Jesus. The people gasped in awe.
He gathered with his staff (tv staff not Moses staff), raised his hands skyward and asked God to send this storm away in Jesus name.
The storm almost immediately began to turn north! It continued to turn until Virginia Beach was spared! The people were amazed and cheered!
Unfortunately the storm went north to Long Island, NY and decimated the place. Now, even more people were angry at him!
This sucks. My future niece in law is getting married down there on Wednesday. I cant remember the name of the island, but it is David Copperfields private island.

For those affected make sure you have some kind of water filtration device. Livesaver Jerrycan is a great device and pretty affordable for what it does. Big hurricanes and pollute groundwater wells for a while and it's better safe than sorry. Even city water can become dangerous if it's bad enough. They also have smaller person devices but I prefer a bigger unit for convenience myself. Be safe folks!

A guy in our golf league was down in Homestead Fl with 3 other guys on a golfing sabatical when Cat 5 Andrew hit. They decided to stay and ride it out. Huge mistake. He said you couldn't believe the screaming coming coming out of 4 grown men. They made it out but.........
My wife and I have a condo on the border of Garden City SC and Murrells Inlet SC. Before you go out onto Garden City pier in the snacks, etc shop there is a picture on the wall consisting of side by side photos. The photos were taken by a small plane maybe 1/4 mile out above the ocean. The left photo shows a bustling community, houses, condos, fishing pier, etc. The photo on the right taken 3 days after Cat 4 Hugo hit and taken pretty much from the same spot shows total destruction. Everything was gone except a high rise condo building(the Kingfisher) and our small condo (9 units) on stilts in the sand 50 feet away from it. As I've found out, there was considerable damage to our structure but it didn't blow away so to speak. We didn't own it back then but everytime I go out to the pier I stop, look, and think about that pic.
I'm in the Virginia Beach area right now, and they are getting a little nervous. Hopefully, it doesn't go the way of most of the current models!
We're on the ocean 10 miles south of Myrtle Beach and every 10 minutes its on the news. Supposedly a Cat 2 when it passes by here. Unless of course it takes a hard left 50 miles after it passes by Charleston.

its crazy here right now, i'm right on east coast by Port Canaveral, they've been evacuating the area all day. I lucked out having a generator, all the box stores are getting multiple shipments a day of emergency supplies, i guess between lowes/home depot/ace here in my town they've sold almost 5000 generators the last 2 days...crazy, most every gas station is out of fuel, I had to drive west to get fuel..trying to reason with hurricane season.

There's now a zero chance this hurricane will impact Connecticut but the local TV weathermen here love showing the menacing radar and saying "Stay tuned, cuz you never know."
I know a lot of people move to Florida for their retirement, but the hurricanes really turn me off to the idea. I think if I want warm weather all the time? I'd have to go with Arizona.
The trouble w/Arizona is that it isn't green in the warm-weather areas. I lived in Palm Springs, CA for a bit. Not seeing green gets to you after awhile.
Florida is not a good place to retire. If you own a house, hurricane insurance is 4k+ a year. The seasons never change. And old people drive on the wrong side of the road.

My dad and step-mom are in Deland. (20 minutes from Daytona Beach) They had someone coming over to put down the storm shutters earlier today. I wish they would have gotten out of there while the storm is a danger, but they didn't.
Hopefully everyone will say a prayer for those caught in the path of this storm.

Latest models show it looks like it'll ride the coast of instead of making landfall here. Apparently due to HB2 Hurricane Matthew cancelled its visit to NC lol

I know what you mean. It's just crazy to live in an area like New Orleans that is shaped like a bowl. Florida is just gonna sink into the ocean.
