Bauer has had some dominating games this year. Especially on the road
……………………………….......................….…………..IP…..H….R...ER...BB...SO Bauer @. Houston (May 10th) (W, 3-0)..........7.0…..3...0....0....3…...7
Bauer @ Seattle(June 6th) (W, 4-2)..............7.2…..5….1…..1....1....10
Bauer @ Toronto (July 1st) (W, 7-2)...............5..….2….0…..0…..3.....3 (the 19 inning game)
Bauer @ Washington (Aug. 9th) (W, 8-5).......6.1…..4….0.….0…..2…...4
Maybe this will be the Bauer who pitches tonight.

Alright...........I admit to watching the game last night.
That was an outstanding game. I thought the Giants blew it when Pagan wasn't able to get the bunt down. It blew my mind he was trying so hard for the hit. Just put it down, man!
But, the relief pitcher's control issues were huge and he was forced to groove one.
Btw............another mini-rant. I have always hated the DH. I much prefer having the pitcher in the line-up because of the possible strategy that might be included in the game. Last night was a perfect example of that.

goodness, what a playoff pitcher 1. He has a 0.79 ERA over his last nine postseason outingsYes, you read that correctly: Dating back to Game 2 of the 2012 World Series, Bumgarner is 5-1 with one save and a 0.79 ERA over 68 2/3 innings across his last nine postseason outings. His worst start in that stretch was an eight-inning, three-run performance against the Cardinals in Game 5 of the 2014 NLCS. 2. He has a 0.670 WHIP in that same spanIt’s really hard for other teams to score runs when they can’t ever get on base. 3. He has thrown 23 shutout innings in winner-take-all gamesWednesday marked the third time Bumgarner has pitched in a winner-take-all game. He has yet to allow a run. He threw a complete-game shutout in the 2014 wild-card game against the Pirates, then that five-inning relief outing in Game 7 in Kansas City that year, and now another complete-game shutout in another wild-card game. 4. No pitcher has made more scoreless postseason startsIt’s true: Wednesday marked the sixth scoreless postseason start of Bumgarner’s career. None of them has been shorter than seven innings. 5. His postseason ERA is the best of all timeMariano Rivera is the all-time leader in postseason ERA with an astonishing 0.70 mark, but among starting pitchers who’ve worked as many games as Bumgarner has, he has been the best. In 2014, Bumgarner put on arguably the greatest run of postseason pitching in baseball history. In 2016 he’ll get a chance to cement himself as perhaps the best postseason pitcher of all time. 6. He has a 23-inning scoreless streakSal Perez hit a home run off Bumgarner in the seventh inning of Game 1 of the 2014 World Series. It was the only run he allowed in three outings that series, followed by nine more scoreless frames on Wednesday. 7. He ranks second all-time in postseason shutoutsBumgarner’s three postseason shutouts put him in a four-way tie for second place in the career ranks, behind only fellow Giants legend Christy Mathewson, who had four. Bumgarner should get a chance to join Mathewson atop the leaderboard early next week. 8. He’s especially good on the roadAs cited on Wednesday’s broadcast, Bumgarner has never allowed a hit with runners in scoring position in a road postseason game. That’s a heavily qualified stat, no doubt, but Bumgarner now sports a career 0.50 ERA in postseason road games. The sample is probably too small to mean much moving forward, but he has more than neutralized his opponents’ home-field advantage thus far. 9. He knows how to pace himselfBumgarner threw his hardest pitch of the evening in the 9th inning. His second to last of the game. Bumgarner was throwing just as hard in the ninth inning Wednesday as he was in the first, which seems more or less in line with everything we know about the man. He threw 119 pitches in Wednesday’s game, the most he has ever thrown in a postseason game and more than he did in any regular-season outing in 2016. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/10/madison-...eal-so-good-mlb

We're witnessing one of the best ever honestly. No starter in recent memory can be this dominant

Last night was a perfect example of that. +1 If I were suddenly hired as the new commissioner of MLB, that's my first task. Can't stand it. Some pitchers can actually hit, look at Bumgarner and Syndergaard in last night's game. And if a pitcher can't hit, they're normally pulled from the 5th inning onward. Plus, pitchers will practice hitting more if they know they have to hit.

The DH vs. no DH argument has it's roots in the "Should players play offense and defense" philosophy of sports.
This is actually very deeply debated at the PhD in Sports Management level.
Basketball and hockey they do. Football they don't.
Personally, I'd have liked to seen Wes Ferrell bat. (Best hitting pitcher of all-time)

That homer in the ninth made me feel the same way as when we lost the WC game to the Steelers: crappy. Damn.

Huge tag!
Hopefully that calms Bauer down and puts a charge in our bats as well.
Something tells me this will be a shootout tonight. Like a 7 to 9 type of game (Tribe with 9 of course).

Could have been a disaster. Yeah, two on no outs with the heart of the order coming up. I think only giving up 1 was a win.

Lonnie gonna get called out at 2nd, but that's a big RBI though.

Yeah, he came off. Good call. Again, we got the RBI. I'll take it.

You are right, but I kinda agree w/what Ernie Johnson is saying. I won't argue it, though.
I do think it isn't as bad as guys who supposedly on second base in double play situations.

I agree with the announcers. He bounced off the base briefly, he didn't over-slide. I'm not sure that's really in the spirit of replay.

Crap. Can't give up a homer to the #9 hitter in this lineup.
Good strikeout of Pedroia though.
