Yeah ..... really not funny.
The Haitians are among the poorest in the world. Their homes are probably among the least capable of surviving a major storm. Over 100,000 - 200,000 people died in that major earthquake back in 2010.
This storm destroyed what little these people had left. There are major problems in Haiti when a disaster strikes, as aid is often stolen, and never reaches the people it is intended for. This is a really sad situation, and really not one to be joked about. I'm sure that you didn't think about it that way ..... but it's a horrible situation for a lot of really poor people.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

No it's not funny. But I think you're missing something.
Haitians are not poor due to any reason other than their own choice.
Call it a cultural laziness. A dependence on others.
There is no reason other than that for Haiti's miseries.
A different country would be less devastated by and quickly recover from a Hurricane.
See Cuba or even Haiti's island neighbor Dominican Republic.

The death toll was not outrageous and the relative damage to “Haiti’s infrastructure” was not economically devastating. (Mainly because Haiti’s infrastructure already is devastated)

Seems like your problem with Haiti is that it's full of Haitians...
As often as Haiti is hit by hurricanes you would think they would have figured this all out by now.

Your propensity to degrade entire cultures comes across as hateful and ignorant.
What possible joy is there in degrading entire cultures? I am sure your comments will be well-received on White Supremacist boards, but I don't think most of the people on this board carry that much hate in their hearts.

This is one of the worst posts I've ever read on here. Haiti, for most of the 1900's, was the the poorest nation in the Western world. As a result, in the past 20 years, Haiti has been too poor to use charcoal as an energy source. Instead of charcoal they have burned their forests for energy leaving the country with NO protection from hurricanes or tropical storms. This not only makes those makeshift villages extremely susceptible to complete and utter destruction. It also makes no dent in the Hurricane's path. It does not slow the hurricane down or anything.
BTW The DR and Haiti have a very murky, volatile relationship that has spanned centuries. Racism is very well and alive in their relationship. The relationship is one of the reasons why Haiti is still so poor and exploited.

You have a lot of those.
If I felt like it and had the time, I bet I could quote you on that many times. On posts you disagree with. You know, it loses it's meaning when you wear it out.

I have posted this website in the past. This is a very interesting website for monitoring winds anywhere on the globe. Check out the hurricane. Use the lower left to change heights and other factors. Earth.Nullschool

Tropical depression most likely.
It's not a threat to us or anybody though. Just a standard nasty storm that forms in the middle of the ocean.

I just heard a report on the radio that said that this hurricane could ride up the Florida coast, and then flip back and hit it again. This could be a terrible situation. I cannot imagine how people who are in the line of the storm think that it is a good idea to stay and "hunker down". This storm has 150 MPH winds, and 10 foot water. Where in your home do you go for shelter in that situation?
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I wish people in Florida would just leave. They're expecting 12 foot storm surges and people are still staying in their homes. The cops need to scare people into leaving. I know some cops have asked people who their next of kin is in order to scare them. However, they're still staying.
Your house is not worth it. The crap in your house is not worth it. You're not going to protect it from storm surges bigger than your house and 150 mph winds.
I'm in for a busy week.

Me too. (wishing people would just leave)
I have a relative - 85 years old. He said he and his wife were going to ride it out. He's confident as he says he's 69 feet above sea level. And, he's not on the water. Good luck Bud.

Jacksonville is going to experience Hurricane Katrina type of flooding. Anyone near that area needs to get out NOW.

Concrete homes in Haiti got flushed out to sea. I don't care how strong you think your house is. That much fast moving water and 150 mph winds is going to flatten everything in its path.
You're basically waiting for a nuke to drop.

I'm in for a busy week. Reminds me of this story: God Will Save Me
A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately.
A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”
The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.”
As the man stood on his porch watching the water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”
The floodwaters rose higher pouring water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”
The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop.
A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!”
Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.
When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”
And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

I honestly believe the people still staying in places like Jacksonville (which will get compeltly demolished) are people suffering from depression and do want to "go out." I actually encourage and applaud the police for using scare tactics. Some cops have asked the people staying for information on their next of kin. I don't care if it's mean or over the top, scare the hell out of them to convince them to leave.

it's because people think the laws of physics don't apply to them or their homes.
false sense of security when the area hasn't been hit for a while, and prior to that, all their stuff was good.
so yea i agree with you, i guess i understand you can't force anybody to leave...but man...there's people there with their kids. and their kids don't deserve that.

It just pisses me off and it's heartbreaking. There are reports of homes made of concrete getting flushed out into the ocean.
You might as well just go stand in the ocean and wait.
