wtf is our offense doing

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Yup, bad play calling, bad offensive line play, sounds 100% familiar.

How the hell was that not pass interference? That was very questionable.

Horrible play calling, special teams, offensive line, running game, everything. Eventually if you play that bad you're going to lose. We all knew that it was coming at some point. We've played like crap for WAY TOO LONG!

It was PI .... but it wasn't called.

Penn State deserves the win, though. They played really well. *sigh* frown

So does this mean that because Ohio State lost, the Browns are going to win?

We are going to drop like a rock in the ranking this week. Definitely looks like PSU is back on track.

I agree, play calling just wasn't there. JT just doesn't have the deep accuracy you need to (rely on) to take the lid off of a defense.

What Ohio State’s loss to Penn State means for the Buckeyes’ playoff hopes

Ben Axelrod BEN AXELROD
Land Of 10 Staff

https://www.landof10.com/ohio-state/what...s-playoff-hopes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Breathe, Buckeye fans.

Just breathe. Everything’s going to be just fine.

Despite suffering its first loss of the season — 24-21 to Penn State on Saturday night — all of Ohio State’s goals for the 2016 season are still attainable.

The Buckeyes can still win the Big Ten Conference. They can still win the college football playoff. Heck, the team that just surrendered a two-score, fourth-quarter lead in heartbreaking fashion just very well may be the team that wins this season’s national championship.

The road to doing so, however, just got a whole heck of a lot harder.

“Win the Big Ten and you’re in” has always been Ohio State’s pathway to the playoff, but at this point, that might not be enough. The Buckeyes can’t just count on winning the Big Ten, they need to do so without adding anymore losses to their resume—although any additional defeats will likely eliminate Ohio State from conference contention anyways.

Yes, Michigan is still undefeated and looks every bit like the national championship contender the Buckeyes hope to be, but their Nov. 26 meeting in Columbus makes any comparison between the two teams a moot point. The Wolverines could win out and so long as Ohio State does the same between now and then, the Big Ten East title will still be on the line in this year’s edition of The Game, depending on how a potential tiebreaker with Penn State would now play out.

Factor in a currently undefeated Nebraska team making the trip to Ohio Stadium on Nov. 5 and the Buckeyes should have a chance to add not one, but two quality wins to their resume before a potential appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game. Once in Indianapolis, a potential rematch with either Wisconsin or the Cornhuskers would likely await, although it’s obviously too early for Ohio State to start looking that far ahead

Especially considering how the Buckeyes looked on Saturday—sluggish and in many ways exactly how you’d expect the team that entered the season as the least experienced in college football to look. Untimely penalties and mental errors on cost Ohio State on multiple occasions against Penn State, which unlike the Buckeyes, only got stronger as the game wore on.

A loss is a loss, no matter what spin you manage to put on it, but the Buckeyes’ first of the season continued an alarming trend of quarterback J.T. Barrett and the OSU passing attack being unable to move the ball on a consistent basis. If the Buckeyes are going to remain in the playoff picture for the remainder of the season, that needs to change or they may not make it to the Michigan game without adding another loss to their season total.

Other than that, if Ohio State was going to lose a game this season, Saturday’s showing wasn’t ideal, but it wasn’t crushing either. Come Sunday, Penn State, sitting at 5-2 on the season, will almost assuredly be ranked. Factor in this loss coming on the road for OSU and it’s hardly enough to knock the Buckeyes out of playoff contention.

If the 2014 Buckeyes can endure a loss to a 7-6 Virginia Tech team, the 2016 edition could be just fine—assuming this loss to Penn State is the only one it suffers by season’s end.

Win the Big Ten—without adding any more losses to your resume in the process—and you’re still “in” if you’re Ohio State.

Each one of Urban Meyer’s three national championship seasons included a regular season loss, although after Saturday, it’s understandable if that feels like a long shot if you’re a Buckeyes fan.

But for now, just breathe.

Would rather have had our bye week later in the season as well. Two weeks in a row we've played another team coming off a bye.

Warinner is not an offensive coordinator. We're kinda stuck in a tough spot because he's a great offensive line coach. It amazes me how he keeps putting sooooo much pressure on JT when it's obvious that he's not THAT type of QB who can carry you no matter what. Also, our WRs as a unit suck. They're easily the biggest underachievers in regards to star rating. Lastly, I'm worried about Isaiah Prince going forward. These last 2 types of performances can destroy a kids confidence.

Yeah, I've hated Warinner ever since he became OC. It was too bad Tom Herman had to leave, but when you're that good you have new oppournitites open up for you. Herman is a freaking offensive genius compared to Warinner. Ed puts the whole offense on JT's shoulder's and he runs him way too much sometimes with stupid play calling.

Very disappointing loss. I really thought we would kill them w/big plays. I was dead wrong. candy called for a tough game. He was right. Some thoughts:

--Why didn't we try to get the ball to Samuel and even Wilson more? That is where I thought we had an advantage. Speed. I think Samuel had one carry. It only went for 74 yards. Are you kidding me?

--Our two offensive tackles got abused last night. And that is being kind.

--Our DL is pretty good. Hubbard is bcoming a very good player and the young guys are improving and becoming forces.

--I was surprised we gave up so many deep passes late.

--Urban has to be very upset that the special teams played so poorly and were the main reason for the loss.

--I don't like our OC at all. Not sure what the hell the game plan was last night.

--We will probably lose to TUN. That is very depressing.

Michigan looks tough, but that is good for the Bucs. Not sure how far they drop, but I don't think it will be so far they can't move back up by beating Michigan....assuming Mich. doesn't lose bewteen now and Nov 28th. As much as you Big Tenners can't pull for Michigan, you need them to win out, and then smack them in the face and you will probably be top 4 heading in to the playoffs, which is really what it is all about.

It's just a thing. Maybe not what people wanted, but the season is far from over.

Just looked at the polls heading in to this week. Based on who is undefeated and the move ups, my guess is OSU falls to 8.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I'm coming down with that flu bug or whatever is going around, so I only saw parts of the game.

Looked like they just had more in the tank than us. How often do teams face back to back teams coming off byes?

I'm not blaming them for the loss, but there were some non calls that hurt. It definitely looked like the db got there early to me on the deep pass down the far sideline on our last drive.

Also, what is the college rule on field goal attempts? Are you allowed to jump and land on a player from the other team? Thought that was a flag unless you cleared the line cleanly. Maybe that's just NFL.

I don't think Warriner is a bad OC, but I think he was a better line coach.

I'm surprised we don't run more drags and screens or more "pick" plays. We tried the one down field with Campbell trying to clear space for Samuel, but why not on quicker passes when the line is struggling?

Not sure we can really blame special teams on the FG block. Urban got them out there really late. Everything was rushed to try to beat the play clock.

In the end, they made more plays than we did.

Hopefully we can catch a second wind and start playing loose now that they've lost.

Not only Mich, but we also face Nebraska. Should we win out and take the B1g championship, we'll have 4 wins against top 10 (at the time, anyway) opponents.

true. we have a shot

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

As odd as it sounds, I think losing will help them relax and take some of the pressure off a bit...they really need to loosen up and throw downfield...

We only dropped to 6. Like I said, that was our 1 freebie of the season. In a 3 way tie (assuming we beat Michigan), OSU gets the nod as well. Only way we wouldn't is if Michigan lost twice.
