All that tells me is you didn't see him play this year...say what you want but his footwork, accuracy, release was pretty darn good. How about what is between his ears?

It all depends on what the FO's philosophy is. We don't know, They don't really communicate it. Not clearly. Not sure if they know. I thought the philosophy was pretty clear. We are going to suck for several years and build up the roster. Do you think we played all those rookies, traded for all the future draft picks, stayed out of the free agent market, etc. to be good?

It all depends on what the FO's philosophy is. We don't know, They don't really communicate it. Not clearly. Not sure if they know. Isn't it pretty clear what the philosophy is? There are literally national writers writing about it all the time. He, he. OK then, you tell me what it is? To build through the draft? Yes, except we are being quarterbacked by RG III after giving up on Wentz. To focus on signing our own? Yes, unless you are Poyer, Schwartz, .... To draft the best player available? Yes, unless you are drafting for us in last year's draft. Do I have to go on? National writers, for the most part, are Browns trolls who believe they have to follow the mainstream line of making us look like pathetic losers. Its how the mainstream media works. I value this board far more than I value the cr@pola coming out of the mouths and pens of national writers. We have no idea what the plan is; what the philosophy of their personnel and draft strategies are. If we could connect a philosophy with consistent actions on their part then this board would be entirely different. We could predict and understand what they are doing and, to some degree, what they are going to do in the future. Silver, Cowherd, Florio, NFL network.... come on. Most of them are gossip trolls. Occasionally they give football guys a bite, but for the most part they are middle school girls at the cafeteria lunch table.

If they cut him, and Garoppolo is off the market, we basically have to go all in to get him. The other options at QB are so dreadful, it makes an above-average QB like Taylor a great option. ... Tyrod's above average .. *LOL* .... good one ...

Do you know what being an "average" NFL QB actually means?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Do you know what being an "average" NFL QB actually means? We have different definitions ... lets just leave it at that .. FWIW According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Bills' coaching staff and front office are split on keeping Tyrod Taylor. It seems the front office, led by GM Doug Whaley, would prefer a clean slate at quarterback while Sean McDermott's staff is intent on keeping Taylor regardless of financial consequences. Neither side is budging, which should set up for an interesting confrontation as the deadline for exercising Taylor's option nears. The Bills have to make a decision by 4 PM ET on March 11. Taylor will be due $30.75 million guaranteed if he's still on the team. Source: CBS Sports Mar 3 - 4:11 PM

Average is a mathematical term. It isn't up for debate on its definition. By definition he is above average. You can say his production, skill set, etc is not valuable in your opinion but that's completely different

But, if our HC decides he is the guy he would like to bring in as a "vet" then I will give him that respect to show us the potential that he sees in the kid. Afterall, our HC has made his career coaching football and working with QBs and Offensive systems. So, he probably sees and knows a hell of a lot more than any of us. But, lets see how this plays out. March 9 is next Thursday.

My problem is that this is the Coach who brought you RG3 and the West Coast Kid ?????? Everyone knocks Cody Kessler but always seems to praise the injured Vikings QB Teddy Bridewater. If you look at their stats they are very comparable. Neither QB has the ability to win games by their selves. They are game managers. We praise one who does not play here and criticize our player. I do not understand. Bridewater only averaged 7 yards per completion, throws more picks per pass than Kessler. Cody also never had the luxury of handing the ball off to Adrain Peterson and a top 5 defense to carry his team. Heck, Tyrod Taylor has much better career stats than Bridegewater and many on this board hate him as a QB. Cut Cody a break he was suppose to be a 3rd string developmental QB in 2016 and was thrust in action. He will never be anything better than a game manager in his career but he did not play all that bad last season on a bad football team.

Frankly it's moronic of anyone to say this guy will work 100% or this guy won't. Discuss. Taking sides is worthless and a waste of time and stress. You have no control over that and no clue of the outcome. Also I never opposed your view stating I was right and you were wrong. I even gave you an option to correct what you meant but I suppose I should've known better. Believe it or not tyrod taylor did not magically appear on earth two years ago. I did a report on him when he came out and have followed him since. If youd like to know my opinion Ill happily give it but it wouldnt 100% be opposed to you so im not sure youd be interested. Also how do I keep assuming? That would require me to have assumed before yet I posted one thought. You amaze me. Stop being so damn combative. And yes I am a statistics analyst. I'll keep my fire and wheel while you freeze in a cave. If you really want to discredit my film study without knowing me go ahead. Since Im already damned for assuming twice I might as well use my 2nd ticket and assume only one of us gets paid for their reports. Perhaps I'd be wrong but given your horrid writing style I doubt that and Id rather just ASSume.

Maybe I had better qualify my Kessler stand... I was a BIG time Dak fan if we were going QB middle rounds .. I had Kessler as a developmental fifth or sixth round pick .. All about Value in my pea brain .. Kessler doesn't seem to have the arm I would like to have in my QB.

Who knows Dak might have been on the Browns radar. But before the draft last year Dak got a DUI. Coming off the Johnny Manziel circus the Browns were not going to touch Dak after that.

Dak is working with the best offensive line the game has to offer and a run game that is superb and by far superior. Kessler may have looked like a beast there and Dak could've looked like a dud here.
People want to compare players all the time, and that's fair but they never want to factor in the player's surroundings/environments when discussing.

Using stats does not not paint a complete picture. I am not sure what is so hard to understand about Kessler's arm? Seriously. Diam mentioned something earlier about people can watch all they want and not know what they are seeing. Perhaps that is the case. It was extremely obvious to me that Kessler did not want to or could not challenge defenses in the deeper depths of the intermediate range. He was ineffective on deep balls. Defenses thus game-planned and took our running game away and forced us to dink and dunk down the field. Again, you might get a drive or two that looks pretty during the game, but you aren't winning games that way. You'll be waiting for a long time if you think that the Browns are going to roll w/Kessler as their franchise qb.

People want to compare players all the time, and that's fair but they never want to factor in the player's surroundings/environments when discussing. I don't know. The supporting cast thing is used all the time on here. It's more like people can't compare skill sets.

Oh I understand , but I looked at the WHOLE picture and was not all that worried about a College kid with a DUI .. Hind sight is always better , lol .. I was just not a fan of Kessler ( in the third ) from a value stand point .
I don't know if any QB, or a RB would be a hit here in Cleveland with the Organizations that Haslam has put together !
I take a player not a position in the draft ( at this point in time ) I would have loved Dallas's Draft !

ON Hue's rep for picking up Kessler.
I thought he did a very good job for a 3rd round pick and being forced to start unexpectedly after the 2nd game. The only thing I have to compare him to is our pick of Frye...Kessler is much better! So yeah I'm confident that Hue knows what he is doing in his QB evaluations.
TT...I think is is on the lower end of 2nd tier QBs - I'm tired of 2nd tier QBs. We need a Franchise QB. I'd rather go with what we got than TT.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2017-n...rs-eye-glennon/INDIANAPOLIS -- The quarterback shuffle in the NFL is about to begin and two of first dominoes to fall should be Mike Glennon and Tyrod Taylor. A Tony Romo or Jimmy Garoppolo trade could take some time to develop, while the Redskins now have until July 15 to get a long-term deal done with Kirk Cousins. The Bills do not plan to retain Taylor at his current contract , according to sources, as they continue to meet with agents for free agent quarterbacks and explore other options. And while the Bills have proposals at a lesser salary on the table, no one I’ve talked to here at the combine -- general manager, cap guy or agent -- can figure any reason why Taylor should accept anything from the Bills at this point. Especially with him being coveted as a free agent. League sources said the Browns have significant interest in Taylor as a free agent. Taylor has strong ties to some on the Browns staff already and if/when he hits the open market I would be shocked if the Browns don’t make a real push for him. Many in the league believe that’s where he will end up -- he’s young and athletic and protects the football and has upside. That would allow the Browns to take the two best players available with their two first-round picks -- beginning with Myles Garrett first overall. The Browns also continue to try to push to retain pending free agent receiver Terrelle Pryor to have some weapons for the new QB. As for Glennon, he is clearly poised at the top of a very shallow starting quarterback free agent market and several GMs around the league believe Chicago has the strongest current interest in him and will emerge as the front-runner to land him coming out of the combine. The Bears love Jimmy Garoppolo but that requires parting with multiple significant assets and they seem convinced Glennon can do the job. I’d anticipate the money being in the Ryan Fitzpatrick range from a year ago - $12 million per season -- with the chance to earn significantly more via production and incentives.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

ON Hue's rep for picking up Kessler...
If Hue's plan for CK played out like Hue wanted it to, CK would have not yet taken a snap in a regular season game...then we'd "know" even less about him than we do today. I think his 'floor' is as a long-term backup in the league...pretty good for a 3rd Rd IMO. We shall see what is his ceiling.

I came here to say does signing Tyrod Taylor help the Browns beat Pittsburgh? But, on your conclusion, Why would they cut RG3 and replace him with a mid round QB from the draft? That sounds like a backward move.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Taylor's stst were not that bad. The rapist QB for the Steelers was 17 of 31 for 220 yards. The difference in the game was Leveon bell rushed for 236 yards.

FWIW ...
Tyrod Taylor - QB - Bills
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Browns have "significant interest" in Tyrod Taylor. The Cleveland Plain Dealer recently reported Taylor was the Browns' top fallback option if they can't land Jimmy Garoppolo. Per La Canfora, "no one I've talked to here at the Combine" believes Taylor will accept the pay cut the Bills want him to take, and "many in the league" believe Tyrod will end up in Cleveland. If the Browns do sign Tyrod, they would be smart to retain free agent Terrelle Pryor. Taylor's strength as a passer is his deep ball.

If we are punting on QB this year (and I have little problem with that) why not just role with what we have? I don't understand tying up cap space in a guy who is only marginally better than what we have.
I hate it when we just replace QBs for the sake of replacing QBs. Either get JG, a real rookie prospect, or role with what we have. I don't see how changing QBs who aren't significantly better than what we have makes us better long term. Oh well
Against logic, the most effective armor is willful ignorance.

I agree, if the Browns don't like any of the big 3 and it seems like most of us don't why not just roll with RG3,Kessler and pick up Webb or Mahomes later. Ofcourse if Jimmy G becomes available I'' deny ever posting this.

Give credit where it's due. The bolded statement simply refers to production. Nothing more. That's why I it isnt my stance. My own opinion, while it might use numbers to solidify or give backing, is purely formulated on tape. No matter how advanced analytics become they will never replace the eye. Guess I can't fault you for thinking that though in my mind that was stated clearly. If anything it was an assumption on your part but a reasonable one. I'm not playing games. I just like people to be precise and thoughtful in what they post and I'm straightforward in my criticism. Anyways on tyrod. In my own personal opinion he's obviously better than anything we have. He'll never be a top 12 type qb but he can be a very efficient albeit passive passer with a great rushing ability. He has an above average deep Ball in both velocity and placement. He makes good quick decisions and has the arm to make every throw in tight windows. Placement is surprisingly good on every level. Stands in the pocket well for any qb but especially for a runner. As a runner is the most elusive in the game at the moment. Very good at picking up first downs, extending plays and falls away from contact saving his body. He has major issues though. His short stature obscure the middle of the field and he doesn't attack it properly. Good DCs know this. He doesn't take advantages of weaknesses in the LBers because of this though his mobility helps negate some of this by taking advantage of his scrambles down the middle. Because he doesn't attack the middle teams can just spy him and focus on his outside wrs and press to throw off his timing. Overall he is limited in what he can do , frankly most qbs are. However with a proper team build and offensive system I think he can start in the league at a level good enough to win and win consistently. I think he needs good TE's and receiving rbs to give him the ability Attack the middle to negate his biggest issue. I think if we resign Pryor, coleman progresses as he should and we bring in a large bodied TE in the 1st 2 rounds tyrod can be a plus level qb for us. Not dissimilar to the level of play we saw from Dalton with hue. That said there's always a risk with every player and it'd be foolish to over commit to any one player. I'd still prefer Jimmy but if tyrod can keep us from using a 1st on this qb class I am all for it. A 3 year deal would be ideal while we attempt to find a true franchise level qb. I can't discredit the people who would prefer to stick to our guns and lose next year but if you want to increase the win column now and Jimmy is not available I think Tyrod is our only shot.

Oh well I don't think the Browns believe TT is only marginally better.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

But, he probably is only marginally better.
Thus far, their QB evaluations have been less than impressive.
--They talked RGIII up big-time. Said he could be long-term starter.
--Liked Goff a lot. Were said to wanted him.
--Did not think highly of Wentz.
--Liked Kessler over DAK.
It's early, but I am skeptical.
