I put some thought into this, this past weekend. I did a little research too, using spotrac for FA and estimated contract and PFF for grades, so forgive me if there are mistakes...


Re-sign:
Austin Pasztor (2 years, $5m, $2m guaranteed)
Terrelle Pryor (4 years, $36m, $18m guaranteed)
Jamie Collins (5 years, $60m, $30m guaranteed)

2nd round Tenders
Josh Gordon (2nd round tender estimated to be $2.75m)
Isaiah Crowell (2nd round tender estimated to be $2.75m)

Cut:
Parkey
McCown
Griffin III

Sign:
Logan Ryan, CB (4 year $25m, $12m guaranteed)*
Tony Jefferson, SS (4 year $27m, $13.5m guaranteed)
JC Tretter, OC (4 year, $18m, $9m guaranteed)
LeVeon Bell, RB (5 year, $57.5m, $30m guaranteed)**


This leaves us with about $30m cap space, assuming the cap will be $168m (I've read it is expected to be between 166 and 170m)

Draft needs would be (in no particular order): FS, Edge, ILB, QB, OL, OLB, CB


* this is the only contract that is likely low, spotrac didn't have a market value for him, so I estimated based on existing contracts.
** based on the Steelers current cap situation, I don't think they could match this without some other changes - this is addition by addition for us, and addition by subtraction by stripping the Steelers of a quality player

also, the steelers have tons of cap room. Bell is one of their three best players. He's not going anywhere.

We were the 5th worse FG percentage in the league, 10th worse extra point percentage in the league. Why keep him?

Though to be fair, zero dead cap $ if we cut him. We could keep him and see if we sign someone else.

That field goal percentage hit is due to the Miami game where he knew his teammates for a whopping 10 secs before playing in that game.

No interest from me. He's never really been good except the one Chip Kelly year.

Per Steelers: When I looked at spotrac this weekend, they had 6m available. They must have made updates.

Kesslers job is safe for now, so there will mostlikely be two job openings.

One by draft and the other by FA, would be my guess.

If the Browns don't want to be big spenders in feee agency, I won't freak out over it. If they keep Collins, Pryor, and sign a guy like Tyrod I will consider free agency a success. What will severely [censored] me off is if we let Pryor AND Collins go. The sign nobody.

I agree. The scenario you put forth would be extremely disappointing, if it were to play out that way.

We have Kessler and Hogan on the roster. Kessler is a long term backup. Hogan can be if he develops in camp. Adding a QB through trade/the draft/free agency would make it three. A camp arm for the fourth QB.

How many QBs do you want to carry?

(Also, McCown is still under contract.)

I'm good with signing Tyrod Taylor... as long as it's a similar situation as RG3 (super low risk "prove it" contract, of the short-term variety). We may have to pay a tiny bit more, assuming the demand for his services will be a little higher than when we picked up RG3.

Bridge QB with the possibility for him to be more. Shouldn't affect our intentions in the draft. Bring in as many bodies as appropriate to compete.

Taylor is going to get a 5 year deal. If it isn't from us, it will be from someone else. There are too many teams that need QB's for that not to happen.

I'd be interested in Nick Foles or Mike Glennon as a free agent addition. Right now I'd rather take a shot on one of them instead of drafting a QB

Would really like the thought of a Kevin Zeitler addition. I'd throw the pocketbook at him.

Zeitler would be great, but I have a feeling that's a long shot. Just an uninformed gut feeling.

If we were to make a splash, I'd love Berry to address a huge hole at safety and jump-start the rebuild of our backfield.

However, I read that we are close to resigning Collins. It might be done this weekend.

You guys mentioned Leveon Bell. He'd never come here, but I wonder if he'd go to a team like Indy. I'm not sure what their cap situation is, but he'd be incredible in that offense.

It's not even worth discussing. They have cap room and if they can't re-sign him they will franchise him.

He's incredible in Pittsburgh's offense.

That would be huge.

So, do we want to address the safety positions in the draft, or sign a quality starter from FA?

Or both? How do y'all feel about staying with Kindred at SS and drafting a FS?

Or finding a FS in FA and drafting a SS?

It is well known that I really liked Kindred when we took him, and I think that he will be our starting SS next year.

It would be best if Kindred didn't have to start.

I would definitely go out and get E.Berry's jersey if we did land him, been awhile since ive bought a jersey. But he would be worth it. Wanted him in the draft but he went just before us and we got hamstring Haden..
