a lot of people think that others who disagree with them are blind...but that don't make it so

I'm just hoping Trump does well.

The only way I'm a follower is in the fact that he's my president. If I disagree with him on anything he does, I will disagree with him.

I just don't see anything worthy of all this handwringing.

You can't uphold everything any politician does and not be a blind follower. There are some things I agree with Trump about.

But let's face it, he goes on Twitter rants like a petulant child. He fabricates things that are totally false. All his press secretary can say in response is "That's what he believes" and talk about alternative facts.

No president is perfect, but you have guys like 40 who will stick up for him no matter what and it's funny as hell. The best thing for all of us is for Trump to do well. However, he seems very petulant and petty.

I did not support Trump, and he certainly was not in my top 10 (or 100) of Presidential candidates .....but I think that he has done some good things thus far.

It is kind of hard to believe that he was only been in office for a week, because it seems like he has done something every day so far. I am no fan of executive orders, but I don't really have a problem with using executive orders to undo previous executive orders.

It will be interesting to see how he does when he has to really start working with the Congress to get things done. This was Obama's single biggest problem, as he had no idea how t lead, and how to work through and with others. Being in business as long as he has been, this should be a strength for Trump, but we'll see.

YTown, I think you are missing one huge point. The GOP said they would and did block everything Obama tried to do. That was their goal from the very beginning. They even stated it. You can't work with someone whose goal is to refuse to work with you.

I don't believe everything Trump does is terrible. But surely you must agree he says some very false things and goes on Twitter rants like a petulant child. It makes him look very petty and very unpresidential.

Alt Facts don't fly here. The GOP did not block Obama, it slowed down Obama's spending and held it to only $10 Trillion.

To be fair, Pit, that goes both ways. A good leader knows how to negotiate and work with those who oppose him/her. We have had presidents who were great at this, Obama was not one of them. It was my biggest complaint about him, I felt he had poor skills as a leader in that regard.

I think Trump probably possesses some good negotiating skills, but is too busy alienating people and arguing over who's is bigger.

Jules, I can show you where McConnel said the goal was to make sure Obama was a one term president. I can show you where their entire goal was to block anything and everything he proposed.

Politics has changed and not for the good. The longer things have gone, the more obstructionist the opposing party has become. Unless things change from where they stand now, I see this as the way our nation will be led, if that's what you call it, for a very long time.

I agree with you that in the past, we have seen the opposing parties work together in compromise. But that's simply not where we are now. IMO you can't look at where we were and compare that to where we are.

To me, now is much more a game to make the other party look as bad as you can to regain power rather than try to actually do the right thing for our country. And it's not just one party who does this.

Oh, I heard all that from the Republicans. I'm not giving them a pass at all on what transpired. I'm simply saying a better leader would have overcome some of that obstruction. Instead, it is my opinion that he made it worse. The blame lies with both. Which is why I don't like none of 'em. wink

Same way here. Neither party gave me a choice of a candidate I felt worthy of my vote. Some may call that naïve or fence riding, well I know 40 calls that fence riding. lol

But at some point, people need to have some kind of minimum threshold that qualifies a candidate to be worthy of the office of president of our country. Neither party met that threshold. These were the two worst candidates I've ever seen. And let's face it, there have been some bad ones.

Obama took office on Jan 20, 2009, and on Jan 23rd said: "Elections have consequences, and at the end of the day, I won.”

Was he trying to get along with Republicans? Of course not. He has a Democrat house and Senate, and didn;t care one bit what Republicans wanted.

As far as Trump's tweeting, man, I think that he gets the press chasing rabbits all over the place. There was a huge women's march .... so he tweets, and the press chases it like it was red meat. The other story gets less coverage, as they throw the other story up in its place.

While I never supported Trump, he has done some things that I agree with so far. We'll see how he goes forward from here.

I get that it's a super effective tactic and it helped him win the white house, but he is effectively just lying to the public to distract the media from covering his policies. Isn't this kind of everything with politics? At some point we need to stop thinking that our peers, citizens, are too stupid to self-govern and hear the truth.

Oh I don't agree with all of his tactics, but that wasn't my point. My point was that I don't think that he is as stupid as some think he is. I think that he is very cagey, and is able to control the press even though they don't seem to realize it. It is kind of fascinating.

A bud of mine who works in the Capitol with maintenance was walking through a hallway when he heard a whimper coming from a small closet.

He pulled open the door and guess who was there? Merrick!
You know, Merrick Garland, Obama's Supreme Court pick!

My bud told him he should go home. Gave him a sandwich n stuff.

Our roads and bridges are falling apart, our airports are in third world condition and 43 Million Americans are on Food Stamps. After 15 years of wars in the Middle East, with Trillions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost, the situation is worse than ever.

Now that is embarrassing.

You can shed your tears for foreigners but I still weep for America.

Yep. America is quickly losing what's left of its foreign power. We have Canada giving refugee status to American green card holders. Ridiculous.

For 40 years no American leader had the guts to take the heat for fixing our broken and neglected immigration policy. Everyone from the world over did as they pleased, crossing our borders at will.

Today we are taking our Country back, step by step and we finally
have a Man in the White House who will take the heat as Law and Order returns to America!

What a coincidence that trump didn't put a travel ban on the 4 countries he has businesses in, even though they have been the biggest producers of terrorism.

Trump started with the 7 countries which were agreed upon by the Obama administration and Congress as threats.

It includes Christians and agnostics/atheists too.

These 7 countries are not even the most populated Muslim countries in the world.

After his first week I would not be surprised if Trump is eventually impeached for some action he ends up doing that goes against the Constitution or threatens the US. In my mind, it is clear he is mentally ill and unstable.

Republicans are going along with it right now simply because they want to get certain bills passed. However, I bet they are having candid discussions behind closed doors and eventually I wont be surprised if they step up and move in to unseat him. Trump will be humiliated and leave DC with his tail between his legs, Pence is elevated to Prez and will finish the term out. I can't predict what Pence will be like in the aftershocks of a divisive/bitter impeachment trial but, I do predict in 4 years so much damage will have been done to the country by Trump that the Republican party will fracture into splinter parties and a rebooted/re-focused Democratic party will win the Presidency/House & Senate in 2020.

I don't like the ban at all. I don't want it to happen at all.

I simply pointed out the facts. I know facts is something you rather have alternative ones for, but your boy is a scumbag. Period.

The banning of refugees and immigrants treads a fine line as does his and Bannon's attacks on the free press. HOWEVER, if you read I said he will eventually do something that is unconstitutional or put America at risk. The guy is very clearly a basket case.

You have the facts because I gave them to you.

The Obama administration and Congress essentially came up with the list of seven, citing the Terrorist Prevention Act of 2015.

Did you even read your own link?

Obama didn't ban those countries.

Also:

Giuliani says Trump asked him how to legally enact ‘Muslim ban’

He's the one who crafted it.

You guys are living up to the deplorable name. bunch of intolerant rednecks.

I give you the largest cable news network on the planet and you give me Yahoo?

ok.

From your Yahoo article...

Giuliani said he then put together a commission that included lawmakers and expert lawyers.
"And what we did was we focused on, instead of religion, danger," Giuliani said.

"The areas of the world that create danger for us, which is a factual basis, not a religious basis. Perfectly legal, perfectly sensible."

Giuliani reiterated that the ban is "not based on religion."

You gave me Fox News and alternative facts. I'm good on that.

Sure it's based on religion. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a ban in the first place.

If you think a ban including everyone from a Nation is a Religious ban you should seek help at Johns Hopkins.

The Syrian Christians wonder what you are going on about.

But it is ok, facts won't replace tears anyway.

So you don't like the ban. Do you like suicide bombers? You must have really liked 9/11? Maybe Boston Marathon? I could go on and on. It had to stop somewhere. America First!

Alternatively, do you like Jews dying in the Holocaust? What about Rwanda? This is what happens to 'refugees' when they have no 'refuge'.
