I don't want to give up #12 on any QB in this year's draft. I don't really want to give up the 12 for JG either to be honest. If we have to trade a 1st then let it be from a future draft.
I think offering a 2nd this year and escalators up to a first next season is better. Things like he starts at least 12 games, resigns for a new contract, and performs like a top 15 QB.
I'd then take Myles at #1 and Cam at #12. Then use our remaining second round pick on a CB or BPA. Of course if Soloman or Barnett somehow slip to 12 then we can just jump all over that too but I doubt that happens.

If a person thinks we need a new qb, they should probably think about the following:
--Are you willing to draft a qb in the first round?
--Do you think that any of this year's draft eligible qbs are a better bet than Jimmy G?
If you answered yes to the first question and no to the second, than I don't get your beef w/trading a first round pick for Jimmy G.
If that is not the case, than so be it.

For clarity, I think that 1st statement should ask:
Are you willing to draft one of the Qb's in this year's draft in the top 15.
Because:
1, yes I would be willing to take a Qb in the 1st round However I am not sureI would take any Qb in this draft in the 1st round.
2, If I would take one of them in the 1st, I'm not too happy about doing it at pick #12.
While I might be willing to take a chance on one of these guys in the latter third (NOT at pick #22 that's for sure), Even if I was convinced Jimmy is better than any of them, that doesn't mean that he is worth the #12 pick. But if you make that alteration then tat closes some loopholes.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

About the only QB I would even remotely consider in the first round is Trub and even him I don't want to take at #12 because he lacks real playing time and experience. Trub might have a real hard time adjusting to the NFL. Then again maybe he will fit right in. No one really knows and that's why you don't take him in the first round.
There is just so much defensive talent in this draft that I find it hard to stomach giving up pick 1 or 12 for what is available. I think our 33 pick and something extra should be enough to trade for Jimmy G.
IF we have to use pick 12 to land Jimmy G. I won't cry that much though. I think he is easily a franchise QB and will be great for us. I just want to be able to use pick 12 to give him more to work with is all.

For clarity..................we have the 1st and 12th picks in the first round. That is what I was talking about. Kinda hard to believe I had to address that. I thought all the experts on this board who have watched so much tape would have already known our draft positions. My bad.

I thought all the experts on this board who have watched so much tape would have already known our draft positions. My bad. I had no problems understanding Jester at all. He clearly says he doesn't want to take one in the top 12 of this draft based on what's available. "I am not sure I would take any Qb in this draft in the 1st round."He is pretty clear in his position with that statement. What don't you understand? "Even if I was convinced Jimmy is better than any of them, that doesn't mean that he is worth the #12 pick"What is so hard to understand about that comment Vers? I think you're just in a foul mood and lashing out at people tonight. You should take a breather and cool your jets.

In the past...for a long time...if it's rumored and leaked in Cleveland it's a done deal. Welcome Jimmy G.
There are no franchise QB's in this draft. This draft is defense rich. We need defense bad. Haden has to go.
And our offense...well at this point trading for a signal caller when there is no O-line except poor old Joe T. to protect him -- And IMHO we have simply a slightly less than mediocre rushing game --- Is setting another guy up for failure.
So, we're going to bring in a new QB savior (same old behavior as the last 17 years) who won't have enough quality targets to throw the ball to and the defenses will be teeing off on us because we will once again have a lot of 3rd and longs.
Please draft defense first (play the available talent) and then O-line. Skill players don't help if they don't have a supporting cast.
Never have hope. You won’t be disappointed.

I like Davis Webb later in the draft more than I like any of the "big name" QBs in the 1st.

Haden played through two groin injuries...so I would let him heal up and let's see where he is this coming season. I think once Bitiono gets back and hopefully we get to see more of Reiter at center I think the line will be better than ok. with the defense in this draft, I think we could really improve our defense. If we go heavy on def. this year and in FA. then go after the better QB's next years draft.
I bet you're wondering the samething I did, why O' why didn't I take the...blue pill

Jimmy Garoppolo on if he'd embrace turning around a losing team like the Browns: 'We'll see when we get there I guess'HOUSTON, Texas -- Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo isn't thinking about being traded to a team such as the Browns just yet, but in a little over a month, he'll likely be the hottest commodity on the trading block. "To be honest, I really haven't thought about it much,'' he said Wednesday at the Super Bowl availability. "It's not even in the back of my mind. We're focused on the Falcons this week. It's a big week for us. It's the biggest game of the year and that's kind of where my mind's at.'' After going 2-0 this year and getting a taste of starting, would he welcome the chance to turn around a losing franchise such as the Browns? "That opportunity really hasn't approached me yet so we'll see when we get there I guess,'' he said. When asked about the trade reports on Tuesday, he said, "it will be interesting. Right now, just focused on this week. It's a crazy week, hectic with all this stuff. We'll see what happens." The Browns are one of several teams who will toss their hat in the ring if the Patriots are willing to deal Garoppolo, especially if they're not enamored with one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft - Mitch Trubisky, Deshaun Watson or DeShone Kizer. In fact, the teams with the top three picks in the draft might all have interest in the Garoppolo, a second-round pick out of Eastern Illinois in 2014. The Browns have the No. 1 overall pick, the 49ers, who will be coached by former Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, have the No. 2 overall pick, and the Bears, with former Browns offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains running the offense, have the No. 3 overall pick. Bears GM Ryan Pace is also an Eastern Illinois product. Is it conceivable one of those teams would surrender a top three pick for Garoppolo? One former NFL general manager told cleveland.com at the Senior Bowl that he'd give up the No. 1 overall. The Browns also have the No. 12 overall pick from the Eagles trade and the No. 33 pick at the top of the second round. They have the most ammunition in this year's draft to land Garoppolo if they really want him. Shanahan liked Garoppolo more than Teddy Bridgewater in the 2014 draft when he was with the Browns and spent a lot of extra time with him. Loggains, then the Browns quarterbacks, was alongside Shanahan for all that due diligence. "I remember going on a visit to (to Cleveland) and they (also) worked me out,'' Garoppolo said. "There was a lot of interaction. I met (coach Shanahan) and coach Dowell Loggains and we had a good experience. It was a good visit.'' The Browns, of course, drafted Johnny Manziel that year -- against Shanahan's wishes. Now, he might have a chance to coach the quarterback he liked perhaps better than the rest that year. And Shanahan's high-flying offense -- first in the NFL in points per game and tied for seventh-most in NFL history -- hasn't been lost on Garoppolo. He's been running it all week for the scout team and loves it. "It's a fun offense actually,'' he said. "They run a lot of different routes and deep stuff and it's fun for the quarterback. Having athletes like he has, I'm sure he enjoys it. (On scout team) one week you'll have a good offense that you enjoy running and the next week you're like 'aw, man, I don't like this offense.' (But) it's really quarterback friendly.'' As for Hue Jackson, Garoppolo doesn't have much history with him. Jackson, a noted quarterback expert himself, was offensive coordinator of the Bengals when Garappolo came out of school, and was set with quarterback Andy Dalton. "I met (Jackson) at the Combine,'' Garoppolo said. "It was one of those 15 minute meetings. I think that was about our only interaction.'' In his six quarters of play before suffering a sprained shoulder in week two against Miami, Garoppolo went 2-0, threw four touchdowns and no interceptions, completed 71.2% of his passes and earned a 119.0 rating. "As a quarterback, you always believe in yourself,'' he said. "You always know you can do things. Once you get your opportunity, you can either do it or you don't. I'd like to think I took advantage of that opportunity." The Browns will weigh Garoppolo's two starts and three years in Bill Belichick's system -- behind arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady -- against drafting a rookie quarterback high and having a 50-50 chance of success. At 6-2, 225, he's got the prototypical size and skillset the Browns are looking for, including arm strength and processing speed. Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, the Browns would have to work out an extension before making the trade. Garoppolo provided a glimpse into mindset about wanting to start somewhere when asked about his choice of Eastern Illinnois. "The Big 10 schools all talked to me as a preferred walk-on and I had a couple of other scholarships at small schools, but at Eastern it was just a great opportunity to play which is really what got me -- and we all want to play -- so that was the main thing,'' he said. Question is, will the Patriots be willing to trade him? It appears to be the case. With Brady saying in 2015 that he wants to dominate for another 10 years, the Patriots won't be able to pay Garoppolo the blockbuster money he'll make on the open market. Besides, Belichick seemed to throw down the trade gauntlet in mid-November when he said Brady and Garoppolo were interchangeable. "When we put Jimmy in there, it's really seamless,'' he said. "Unless you were actually looking at the position, if you just could block out that position and say which was in there at quarterback, I don't know if you would know a lot of the times." That's first-round pick talk, but he just might be worth it. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2017/02/jimmy_garoppolo_on_if_hed_embr.htmlLink has a video interview w/ Jimmy

Also, if the Shanahan loves Jimmy stuff is true (which I think we've heard about before), there is a legitimate competitor in SF.

If a person thinks we need a new qb, they should probably think about the following:
--Are you willing to draft a qb in the first round?
Not at #1 and Not at #12 but possibly lower in the round.
--Do you think that any of this year's draft eligible qbs are a better bet than Jimmy G?
Nope, I think they are all crapshoots. I think Jimmy G. is a crapshoot as well.
If you answered yes to the first question and no to the second, than I don't get your beef w/trading a first round pick for Jimmy G.
If that is not the case, than so be it. Last I heard it was more than a 1st. Shefter thinks the starting point is more than the 1st and the 4th given for Osweiler.
The contract risk is also a huge amount more than drafting a rookie as well.
We are paying a 1st and a 4th to rent him for a year. If we try to lock him up long term before he plays, It is going to cost more than $72 mil over 4 years with $37 mil guaranteed.
If we don't sign him long term and he totally flops, we are out a pretty high first round pick and a fourth round pick for nothing.
If we sign him long term, and he totally flops, we are in the same spot as Houston and forced to start a QB that sucks until we can afford to eat his contract along with the draft picks.
If we don't sign him long term and he's great, we can rent him for one more year with the franchise tag, but he has less incentive to sign with us then he had before. He has $25 mil in guaranteed cash and gets to shop his services to higher bidders that might also have better teams in 2019. In order to keep him, the best bet is to make him the highest paid QB in the NFL sooner rather than later and hopes that he lives up to that.
If we swing and miss on a QB in the draft it's going to hurt a whole lot less than swinging and missing with Jimmy G. It just costs the pick that we used on him. If we happen to hit in the draft, we have a starting QB for cheap for the next 5 years, while we continue to build a better team around him.So what is the right answer? Unfortunately there aren't any sure things in this scenario, just weighing risks vs rewards. Whichever way that we go, if we hit, it was the right thing to do. If we miss though, one of these things is going to hurt a lot more and for a lot longer. If Jimmy G is the route that they decide that they want to go, then they have to sign him long term as part of the trade or be forced to pay him to be one of the highest paid QB's in the future.

Please, I don't mean to be rude but I believe Osweiler was a free agent, no 1st & 4th. JG's contract is around 800 K on his remaining yr. He can be franchised twice, I approximating 15 M over 3 yrs. I'm sure if he's here for 3 yrs. & performs well, something can be worked out.
I'm not sure JG is the answer & I think a first & a 4th is too much. I feel that if decent deal can be stuck, it's definitely worth a shot.

My questions are:
How do you think a first round QB would perform playing for the Patriots?
Have you ever worked for a great/good organization and then moved to disfunctional one?
If we Draft a QB this year he should not play, so that gives him 1 year to learn and develop. If we trade for a QB he will have to play this year.
IMHO, if we want JG or simmilar QB, trade next year, not this year.
The QB's we have aren't the problem, they are not the solution either, but they are perfectly servicable for a competitive season.
If Hue trades for JG, its a desperate move, and you know how it ends here in Cleveland....

Bradford cost the vikings a first and 4th because they were a bit desperate and beleived they could make a really deep playoff run and Bradford had proven he could be a decent QB in this league. A future first is usually given a bottom draft pick as it is an unknown. In this deep class, I cant see anyone outside the Bills or Jets that might be desperate enough to give up a first and there is no way in hell they are gonna trade him inside the division. 49ers certainly arent gonna give up the #2 overall for him. Our 2 and 4 offer, (if true) is probably as good as they are gonna get. I would be really surprised if Jimmy G isnt a brown and it wont be for a first, if Hue likes him? I get the feeling it may be the FO loving Jimmy and Hue wanting another shot with RG3. I mean when the clouds part and the earth shakes, lol

So what if...
The Patriots win the Super Bowl, and Tom Brady rides off into the sunset?
He can talk about playing till he's 40 all he wants. Win #5 and people will call him the GOAT (if they aren't already) no matter what happens ever. (Whether he is or not)
Just a thought.

I don't think trading for Jimmy G is out of desperation.
Trading for Romo is a desperate move.
Drafting Watson #1 is a desperate move.
If we trade for JG, it's because we think he can be THE GUY going forward. He's been in the NFL for 3 years, it's not that you "have to" start him, he's ready.

Here are the front-runners to land Garoppolo, Romo in NFL's QB shuffle There will be multiple suitors for the Tom Brady's backup and the Cowboys veteran Jason La Canfora The jostling for the few intriguing quarterbacks on the market has already begun. The NFL Combine is still weeks away, while the start of the league year is over a month away, but deep, internal strategic discussions are ongoing in several quarterback-needy front offices. These clubs are outlining their offseason plans at the most critical position in football, and targets have already been set. The Chicago Bears will make a strong, concerted effort to acquire quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the Patriots, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. The Illinois native is far and away their top offseason priority. The Cowboys will listen to offers for Tony Romo, sources said, once owner Jerry Jones has his meeting with the Pro Bowl quarterback. Romo prefers to be moved to a contending team -- specifically, the Texans, Cardinals, Broncos and Chiefs. The Bills also have significant interest in Romo, team and league sources said, though they realize that it might be a tough sell. The Bills have not given up hope on retaining Tyrod Taylor on a lesser contract, too, though that may be wishful thinking on their part at this point. Many teams view Garoppolo as the best option of all potential free-agent or trade targets, and the Bears will have competition. Teams like the Browns, Jets and 49ers could provide opposition, but the Bears' intent and willingness to complete a trade could not be more serious. Quarterback is an acute need -- the Bears are moving on from Jay Cutler -- and jobs are on the line there after two poor seasons from the John Fox and Ryan Pace regime. The Bears have abundant draft picks they could trade -- including picks in the top three of each round -- and while rival executives do not believe the Patriots will land a first-round pick that high via trade, a package including multiple high second-round picks is quite possible. Furthermore, trading Garoppolo out of the AFC would appeal to the Patriots, who expect him to prosper elsewhere. The Bears have done extensive work on Garoppolo and are very comfortable with him. He shined in the preseason and was exceptional filling in for Tom Brady during his four-game suspension and has strong roots to that community. He played at Eastern Illinois, where Pace played as well. Romo, Mike Shanahan and Saints coach Sean Payton are also Eastern Illinois products; Pace and Payton worked together in New Orleans and were very high on Garoppolo coming out of college. The Bears are prepared to engage in talks on Garoppolo at the combine later this month, or sooner if need be. Trades cannot be officially consummated, however, until the league year begins in March. The Bears acknowledge it will be difficult to land much of anything for Cutler, with other teams preferring to not trade for him and instead wait for him to be cut to then sign him to a cheaper contract, though a suitor could emerge. The Jets have strong evaluations on Garoppolo, but realize it's virtually certain Bill Belichick would not trade the prized young passer within the division. The 49ers are very high on the Redskins' Kirk Cousins, sources continue to maintain, but Washington will franchise the impending free agent quarterback and is prepared to engage in talks in a lucrative long-term deal with him. It would take a huge haul of picks to pry Cousins away, and new 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, who along with his dad drafted Cousins in Washington, has a ravaged roster with needs at every position. Paying that kind of draft pick price could be prohibitive. The Bears also have done significant work on Cousins, but with the Redskins going to franchise him and that process playing out perhaps throughout the offseason, the timing may not work out and this team can't afford to be left without a seat in these musical quarterback chairs. The Browns have stockpiled draft picks (again) and will explore multiple quarterback options, and they and the Jets are highly intrigued by North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, as we first reported months ago. Texans coach Bill O'Brien is a big believer in Garoppolo as well, but he is stuck with Brock Osweiler's salary for another year, and he is planning on giving Tom Savage every opportunity to win that starting job, sources said. Ownership has already declared the need to draft a quarterback. Romo's market will be robust as well. The Chiefs have to make a determination on whether he, or any other option, would give them a better opportunity to win a Super Bowl than Alex Smith does. Smith has already played out the guaranteed portion of his contract. If so, Smith would be a trade-worthy commodity as well. While some reported the Cowboys may just let Romo walk, the demand for him should be such that Jerry Jones gets a strong return on his investment. Some GMs opined that the Cowboys would get a second-round pick, plus potentially another high pick based on Romo's playing time (injuries have dogged him in recent years). The Broncos are likely inclined to give Paxton Lynch, their first-round pick in 2016, every chance to take the starting reigns there, so a trade might not match up. Fitting Romo under the salary cap with Osweiler would be a challenge for the Texans. If Carson Palmer retires, Romo could be an option, and sources said the Cardinals are very high on Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and could be prepared to trade up to land him this spring. If the Cardinals determine Watson is out of their reach, Tyrod Taylor is very appealing to Arizona and would be a great fit in Bruce Arians' scheme. Buccaneers backup quarterback Mike Glennon is viewed as the best of the free agent quarterbacks set to hit the market, and his market will further come into focus after the chase for Garoppolo and Romo concludes. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/he...ls-qb-shuffle/

I believe for some reason that While Jimmy G has the potential to be a good QB.
Going to Chicago just seems like bad luck.
Even compared to here... somehow.
Kyle could have a quick turnaround in SF if he gets JG and John Lynch doesn't give up too much for him..
That sounded so weird to type.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Just hope the Browns win it for once and land Jimmy G. Otherwise it might take drafting a QB at #1 overall to land one since more than 3 teams after us desperately need a QB and they draft before we do at 12.
If we take one of these QB's #1 overall and pass on Garrett or Allen I might just puke.

j/c: Mythbusting, The Jimmy Garoppolo Trade EditionLet me start out by saying I have no idea if Jimmy Garoppolo is a franchise quarterback. Truth be told, there are probably very few individuals on the planet who are equipped which such invaluable information. Those people include, but may or may not be limited to Bill Belichick, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jimmy Garoppolo’s parents, Mary Kay Cabot, Joe Banner, and Jerry the King Lawler. And with all apologies to Mary Kay, do those experts in their given field really even know. Could Belichick say one way or another that he knows Garoppolo’s two-game sample size is large enough to indicate whether or not he can be given the keys to an NFL franchise? Probably not. One thing we do know is that Garoppolo has become a more controversial subject than Janeane Garofalo, who I also cannot rule out with 100 percent certainty that she isn’t a franchise QB (I’m so desperate, at this point I’ll try anything). In the last few weeks, I’ve heard caller after caller shoot down any trade rumors involving Garoppolo based on a multitude of reasons, almost all of which are easily debunk-able using sound logic and my already made-up convictions. So feel free to print out this piece, carry it in your briefcase which is hopefully more secure than Kyle Shanahan’s, and feel free to bust it out at the right time at your Super Bowl party when timid Browns fans reject QB solutions around every turn. MYTH #5 YOU CAN’T TAKE A PATRIOT BACKUP QB This argument, which is the most likely to come up before Phil Simm’s even gets the chance to wax poetic on the Super Bowl coin toss, is also the easiest to shoot down. While it’s true Patriots backup quarterbacks have never been the toast of the town — unless that town is Fairview Park and the bar you’re doing the toasting is at Stampers (RIP 1998-2016) — that doesn’t mean Garoppolo stinks. The Patriots have had arguably the best QB in the history of the game, and thus have never really had motivation to grab a QB high in the draft. Before drafting Garoppolo in 2014, here’s the comprehensive list of QBs selected by the Pats and the corresponding round they were taken: Ryan Mallett 3rd Round, Zac Robinson 7th round, Kevin O’Connell 3rd Round, Matt Cassel 7th Round, Kliff Kingsbury 6th Round. Clearly, QBs were not a priority in the draft for Belichick. That was until 2014, when they thought highly enough of Garoppolo to take him 62nd overall. That was a dramatic change in philosophy for the Patriots organization, who probably sought some insurance for an aging Tom Brady and also found a player who likely would have been a first round choice had he gone to a school people had actually heard of. Also past performance does not guarantee future results. Take for instance my family, which didn’t exactly place a premium on higher education. The Limas were a proud people, but nobody was betting on this particular Lima to make it out of high school given the numerous run-ins with the law and litany of in-school suspension time served in middle school and high school But here I am, a graduate of The Ohio State University and also hanging on my wall is a Master’s degree from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Yes, the last line was included solely to validate my ridiculously costly college debt. MYTH #4 YOU CAN’T DEAL WITH THE DEVIL This one is an interesting one coming from Browns fans, who have done nothing but heap praise on the new organization for dealing with the Devil. Have we already forgotten the acquisition of Jamie Collins and the subsequent contract extension that he signed? Chandler Jones seemed to work out well for the Cardinals right? MYTH #3 BELICHICK WOULDN’T DEAL GAROPPOLO IF HE WAS ANY GOOD On Thursday, we talked to Boston media personality Michael Holley who told us he thinks Tom Brady plays at least 3 more years. You really think Garoppolo (the 62nd overall pick in 2014) is cool with patiently sitting three more years, in addition to the three years he’s already been chained to the sidelines. Not to mention the fact he’ll be a free agent after next season and wants to get paid. You think Belichick, who jettisons players mid-season ahead of a contract dispute, will want that headache next season? And who knows if Bill will even want to coach one down of football without his Hall of Fame QB. MYTH #2 GAROPPOLO ISN’T WORTH TWO DRAFT PICKS, INCLUDING A BROWNS’ FIRST ROUNDER I should cut Browns fans some slack here, they’ve gone 20-plus years without a legitimate “franchise” quarterback and probably wouldn’t be able to identity one if they ran over ’em with Mike Holmgren’s golf cart. I can’t stress enough what a game-changer a stud QB would be for the Browns. They’re worth their weight in Manziel’s moneyphone. You would give up a first round pick to draft a quarterback right? So why wouldn’t you trade a first pound pick (and change) to get one? Think the Falcons regret taking Matt Ryan third overall in the 1st round? Or the Ravens for taking Joe Flacco 15 picks later? How about the Packers for taking Aaron Rodgers 24th overall? What about the Giants who won two Super Bowls after grabbing Eli manning 1st overall, or the Steelers who won twice with Ben Roethlisberger 10 picks later? How about the Panthers, who went to the Super Bowl five years after drafting Cam Newton No. 1 overall? What about the Buccaneers or the Titans, who revived their franchises with Jameis Winston (No. 1) and Marcus Mariota (No. 2). Think the Eagles aren’t thrilled knowing they think they have their QB of the future (No. 2). Not only is Jimmy Garoppolo worth the 12th pick and whatever else it might take. You would be hard-pressed to not give your first if you honestly thought he could be you’re QB for the next 10 years. MYTH #1 A TWO-GAME SAMPLE SIZE ISN’T ENOUGH EVIDENCE Oh really? But a ZERO-game sample size is all the evidence you would ever need to use up a coveted, high draft pick on every other rookie player in the NFL? That’s the silliest of the silly and if you trust your organization to evaluate a quarterback — and if you don’t, then it probably doesn’t matter because the entire organization is doomed from the start anyway — then why wouldn’t you trust their decision-making on a QB who’s actually spent time under center for an actual NFL team. Yes, it was only two games, but you have to admit, they were an impressive two games. Garoppolo was under the magnifying glass in the opener against the Cardinals and delivered in a big way, completing 24 of his 33 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown. He played mistake-free football with a QB rating of 106.1 while the Patriots offense did not miss much of a beat in the win. The following week with some tape on him, he shredded the Dolphins high-priced defense and connected on 18 of 26 passes including three touchdowns/no interceptions. He delivered a QB rating of 135.4 and did so without Rob Gronkowski in the lineup. Here’s a video of every throw he made in that game. With all that said, it’s up to the Browns to make a determination once and for all on whether Jimmy G is worth the hype. And after misses on RG3 and Cody Kessler, their due to nail the next one right? RIGHT? http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2017/02/02/mythbusting-the-jimmy-garoppolo-trade-edition/
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

I'm passing on a QB from a system that made Jacoby Brisset look like he's a viable QB. Their organizational system is so far ahead of the rest of the league they traded Jamie Colins and got better.....
Hard pass on anyone Belicheck wants to get rid of. Played 2 games, got injured, people acting like we should trade a 1st round pick, lol.

You are greatly exaggerating how good Brisset looked when he played.

If the Browns do trade for JG, the front office better make sure they have the offensive line to protect JG. Hopefully management now understands how important the center position is as well as the RT position.
The Browns 2016 Oline ranked 28th in run blocking and dead last in pass protection.
...I can see it now, the Browns hand over a 1st round pick and a 4th round pick to the Patriots in trade for Garoppolo..sign him to a $72 million contract...without addressing the offensive line needs.
What could go wrong?...it's like GROUND HOG DAY, again.

Check and Check, but that last check is for the near forseable future. We don't yet know for certain, that a QB from this years draft might be better than JG or not. None of the rookie QB's rate a first round grade imo (shared by many), even JG did not coming out, but with a rookie, transitioning will take time, as I see no pro ready types this year. I still can not see the Logic in NE letting him walk with Brady's advanced age. Perhaps Bill is trying to help the franchise from the scrap heap. The Mary Kay post about Watson being rated #1 is a hoot/joke.

Now you can add Kyle Shanahan's take on Garoppolo.
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...art_river_index
Interesting. There will be competition for JG.
Once again the option is right in front of the Browns.
Just like it has been on many draft days.
More than likely the Bears or 49's will do what it takes.
Then a year or two from now everybody will be saying:
" I wish we would have".

Browns fans are so snake bit and paranoid about quarterbacks it is hard to have any rational discussion.
So it seems now people are willing to settle for pocket change. Like lost cause Griffin or throw long Kessler.
"Plenty of people say: this quarterback class is bad." Just like Wentz can not be good because of where he played.
And of course Dak Prescott can't be good because he was not a first rounder.
Carr and Garoppolo can't be good either because they are not Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning.
Mariota came from the spread blah blah, etc.
With what the Browns have in draft picks and Garoppolo being available. If this organization can not figure out how to find a quarterback then they would be better off selling it someone who can.
Sick of excuses. We have free agent money available. We have plenty of draft picks. We have the number one pick and the 12th pick in the first round. We have guys on the team that could be traded.
Figure it out.
Find a real quarterback.
I firmly believe that Garoppolo could be the guy.
The draft? There could be a guy. Trubisky, Kizer, Watson are guys that could be drafted in the first round. Are they squeaky clean? No. But more than likely a quarterback in this coming draft class will prove to be good.
The Browns organization knows the mission.
Find the guy.

LOL Brisset and New England got shut out by the Buffalo "freaking" Bills in Brisset's second start.........16 to 0. The Pats were 1 for 12 on third down and had only 277 yards of total offense. In the game Brisset won, the Texans had multiple turnovers, including two on fumbled kickoff or punt returns deep in their own territory. People make things up and then others "like" those posts because it fits their agenda. Why can't we be honest when making our arguments?
