People in Atlanta are setting off their fireworks anyway. I can hear it. Props to them. They got to the superbowl!

Atlanta were content with their 25 point lead and never went for the jugular. They could have and should have scored again and again and again. The greatest comeback and the biggest collapse. Falcons fans must be devastated. What and shame and an embarrassment that will be talked/discussed/analyzed about over and over.

2nd half, and the 4th, in particular, were exciting. I wanted ATL to win but, I am glad an exciting game eventually came out of it.

What were Belichic and the Patriots players doing during the halftime break?

I mean, Was it a supportitive attitude, or was it a Yelling Get your heads out of your keisters attitude.

The halftime ran long.

You sure they are not burning the city down like Vancouver did after losing the Stanley Cup in 7?

Haha we have more class than to burn the city down. It's not a sports live or die town like Cleveland. Unless you are talking about college football.

The team that scored first, Atlanta lost

The team that scored just before halftime, New England, a Field Goal, with around 2 minutes in the 2nd. Won.

Atlanta had a 2 turnover advantage and everything going their way until the Patriots got 1 turover on the Falcons side of the field.

The Falcons reached the redzone with an 8 point lead and 5 minutes to play, and had to punt..............!

That's about as bad as a turnover also.

Patriots getting away with a face mask on that drive turned out to be huge.

If we are thinking of the same play....both players were facemasking each other. It would have offset.

You know what happened ... The Falcons were up 3 scores to 1 at halftime. That's been the kiss of death when it comes to Championships lately.

Atlanta pulled off a choke job for the ages, worse than anything we ever did. I will give Brady and the Pats credit though, they made the plays when they had to. Mack and Gabriel must have taken some of that Browns mystique with them to Atlanta. rolleyes

I forgot it wasn't Browns football so stopped watching after it looked obvious they would lose ... That's what a great QB can do for you!!!

He never does. We should ALL know this by now.

What a great game! Perhaps this a bit of recency bias but Tom Brady, to me, is the best player football player EVER, and possibly the best sports athlete EVER.

This probably cements a Garappolo trade....but to whom?

Just clicking.

Well, I admit I stopped watching the game late in the 3rd. Had some stuff to do, and I was bored. Wasn't really invested in the game and I thought that, for the most part, the ads sucked. And I honestly did not think NE had a chance. Neighbors went home by that time, and I got tired of my Facebook feed blowing up because of my brother-in-law Pats fan.

After a while my wife calls down the steps and asks about how OT works in the NFL. I'm thinking, no way. But, way. Watched OT.

Haven't read this thread all the way and if someone else mentioned this, I apologize. Thinking back to when they changed OT to give the other team a chance with the ball if the team who gets it first scores a FG on the initial drive ... known by some as the "Peyton Manning" rule because it removed the situation that prevented Manning from getting on the field during an OT postseason game the previous season ... what if Super Bowl LI turned out the other way? Say that NE still had that epic 25 point comeback and forced OT. But Atlanta wins the toss, gets the ball first, and drives for a TD. Do we then get a "Tom Brady" rule changing OT again, because he did not get a chance after leading that charge to force OT?

Wanted the Falcons to win, but I figured all along that the Pats would. You just can't count Brady and Belichick out,,, Ever They usually find a way.

Yep. It was a freakin' great game, especially the end.

Memphis, you know I love you man but greatest any sport athlete of all time? Can't go there. Greatest QB? Absolutely.

Without the defense, Brady doesn't have a chance to do what Brady does. Total team effort capped off by a guy with ice in his veins. Once he realized they had a shot to win it, he wouldn't be denied. Definitely special. He's definitely the greatest QB of all time.

Wow, I fell asleep in the 3rd when it was like 28-9. I woke up with the Patriots driving down 28-20. I started wondering how did the Falcons blow this? I am sure everybody watching knew it was over for the Falcons at this point.

Just about 6 months before preseason starts, about 7 months away for regular season. We'll have some new draft picks then. Should be interesting.... I hope! tongue

2nd time in 3 years pats win because their opponents wouldn't run on their last possession.

It's a tough one for sure. I just don't see another football player coming anywhere close to him...sorry Jim Brown fans. And it will always be a debate of apples to oranges when you cross over to other sports but 7 Super Bowl appearances, 5 wins, 4x SB MVPs, 12x Pro Bowler, 2x League MVP. 2x Offensive POY, etc., etc.

The dude is a winner. Plain and simple. Yes, he has help but everyone does in team sports. Again, maybe a little recency factor plays into this, but in the most important position in all of sports (IMO), man, he just gets it done.

Its a great debate.

My first post so I apologize for the repeated info.

I watched the whole first half then the Lady Gaga halftime show made me so sleepy due to how dumb it was. I dozed in and out during the second half.

I can't believe Atlanta wouldn't have milked the clock more. About as common sense as it gets. They seemed in the first half to be able to do/execute anything they wanted. Julio Jones was unstoppable and they frequently gave that corner over the top help, still unstoppable.

Not sure how Atlanta truly managed to blow it, but I won't be going back to watch the second half to find out. Shame.

As soon as it was 28-20, I had no doubt the Pats could pull it off. A comeback and win would be far from shocking.

The only think that shocked me was that Edelman (sp?) catch. My GOD . . .

I turned to my father-in-law just after the Patriots kicked the field goal and said "in most games, Superbowl's especially this would be over, but I just can't count the Patriots out." I wanted to, but man, it just didn't feel over.

For all the shade that the Browns got regarding people we let go, Alex Mack (props for playing injured) was singularly responsible for the sack that effectively put the Falcons out of field goal range at the end. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have rather had kept him, but it did feel kinda nice to see.

Same thing with Shannahan, not that I did want him to stay, but his offense couldn't protect that lead by running the clock out...at all! I had a thought this morning that Belicheck probably told his team to let Atlanta get all the big plays they wanted, they'll just tire out their defense and we'll own the second half...

As for the MVP, I agree that Brady is the best QB I've ever seen play, but he did not deserve that MVP, that was James White's...which I think even Brady agrees with.

Atlanta called 5 running plays after going up 28-3.

I've seen this mentioned a few places, but I haven't confirmed the play-by-play. But man, if true, that's messed up.
