Can't he apply for and take the test? Or does he get deported for being here Illegally? I think if he asks for the citizens test he should be able take it. If not I guess he gets punished for being here illegally in the first place. Should have taken the test when he got here. Why did he need a coyote in the first place? He should have applied for citizenship when he came over. I do know that getting a VISA to come to the USA is not always that easy. Especially depending on what country you come from. Often you have to be sponsored. I've never gotten that involved with it because I'm sure it's embarrassing to him. The guy's in his 40's, a grown man. There's a stigma to being "Illegal", at least a perceived one. But I do know that he would love to be a citizen if possible. And because he's undocumented, it makes it extremely difficult. Taking a test is for folks with a green card working on their citizenship. My wife took the test to become a citizen

If your friend is so great then why doesnt he come here legally? Kind of dumb not to. He's from Mexico. He crossed the border with the help of a Coyote probably like 10 years ago. After getting in, it's not so easy getting out. He can't just buy a plane ticket. And if he goes and voluntarily leaves, he can't come back for like 10 years. That's the policy. He's never been back to Mexico, although I'm sure he'd love to go back and visit his family who is still there. I don't blame anyone for coming here. Especially from a poorer country with much less opportunity.

You mention the coast guard. Interesting, and now, humorous aside to the topic.
Parents have a small power boat - 23'. A few years ago, first time out for the season, they put the boat in at Frankfort Michigan.
Dad started going out to Lake Michigan. (he and mom). Made some decent distance, in the harbor that is, and the engine stalls. Starts right back up, but stalls. He opens the engine cover, and sees water. Turns the bilge on, starts the engine, and it stalls. Dead in the water pretty much.
He radioed the marina, told them what was going on. They said, basically, call the coast guard. At that time, the coast guard chimed in on the radio and asked his (dads) exact location, and said "we've been monitoring your radio chat. We're on the way."
As they pulled up, dad later relayed to me, their boat hadn't even stopped moving but the c.g. guys had his (dads) boat tied up to them.
C.G. guys jump in the boat, take a look at the engine, see all the water, then looked at dad and said "who winterized this boat?" Dad said "my son in law, why?" Who UN winterized the boat? "my son in law, why?"
With a wry smile on his face the c.g. guy asked "Does he not like you? He didn't put the plugs in the coolant lines back in."
So, boats cool their engines with lake water, bro in law didn't put the plugs back in, so consequently, when the engine was running, it was sucking up lake water to cool the engine, but with the plugs missing, it was just filling the engine compartment with water.
C.G. towed them in, marina fixed it, and my bro in law got a phone call from dad, his dad in law.

Sounds like they knew what they were doing. Impressive and not always the case, lol. I've worked on boats from little ones all the way up to really big ocean going tug and barge rigs (which is what I do now), and sometimes I'm amazed at how these folks operate.
Although no one is perfect, i'm sure plenty of people feel the same way about me sometimes. It's like driving a car in that sense I guess. And i've made tons of mistakes out at sea on little boats as well, just like your brother in law. My 15 ft whaler as a kid taught me many lessons, lol.
I do think Coast Guard and Navy ships would operate a million times better in routine operations without a million people on the bridge though. As a vessel operator, you essentially have to be "Ahead of the vessel" which means, working ahead of the situation, rather than behind (which would be like reacitng on the fly). With that many people up there, it's very difficult for them to make decisions quick enough.
Yeah, my test is for a 1600 Ton Captain's License. Hopefully the last real test i ever take in my life. Def hope so.

Oh, they DEF. knew what they were doing. My dad was impressed. And really, according to my dad, they'd been monitoring his radio calls to the marina, and they were Johnny on the Spot.
I'd love to go off thread here and tell you about my experiences in Lake Erie, and Lake Michigan......things that could've turned out bad, but didn't. But, I won't.
It would detract from the thread.

deport them all!! oh wait, not the ones we like!! Pro-Trump town riled up after immigration officials arrest popular restaurant manager http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/02/27/pro...nt-manager.htmlWEST FRANKFORT, Ill. – A southern Illinois community that solidly backed President Donald Trump has rallied behind a Mexican restaurant manager who doesn't have legal permission to live in the U.S. and has been detained by immigration officials. Letters of support for Juan Carlos Hernandez Pacheco have poured in from West Frankfort's mayor, police chief, high school athletic director and the county prosecutor. They describe Hernandez as a role model and praise his robust civil involvement, including funding school scholarships, benefit dinners for families in need and hosting a law enforcement appreciation event. ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TAKES REFUGE IN DENVER CHURCH TO AVOID DEPORTATION Hernandez, 38, came to the U.S. in the 1990s but didn't obtain legal status, according to friends. He has been the manager of La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant for a decade in the community with coal mining roots, about 100 miles southeast of St. Louis. He was arrested at his home earlier this month and remains in custody at a U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement facility outside St. Louis. ICE officials did not explain why Pacheco was arrested, but noted his drunken-driving convictions from 2007. Some residents in the community of roughly 8,000 didn't know Hernandez lacked legal status in the U.S. until word spread of his arrest. IN FACE OF RISING DEPORTATION, IMMIGRANTS INCREASINGLY FORCED TO FIGHT ALONE Though the community largely backed Trump — who has made an aggressive stance on immigration central to his agenda and has promised to deport millions of immigrants who have no permission to live here — many residents of West Frankfort said Hernandez' case has complicated their views on immigration policy. "I think people need to do things the right way, follow the rules and obey the laws, and I firmly believe in that," Lori Barron, the owner of a beauty salon, told The New York Times. "But in the case of Carlos, I think he may have done more for the people here than this place has ever given him. I think it's absolutely terrible that he could be taken away." DHS DEPORTATION SHIFT FUELS MEXICO TENSIONS AHEAD OF TILLERSON TRIP Hernandez' attorney is pushing for him to be freed on bond until his case can be heard. His wife, Elizabeth Hernandez, and three children are U.S. citizens. She told The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan that she hopes her husband can come home and "continue his efforts on becoming an American citizen, something that he has wished for a very long time." So what you're saying is that if people like you then you don't have to obey the laws right?
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

Thanks oBUMA http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/03/02/ms-13-gang-members-indicted-in-killings-three-ny-teens.htmlSeveral members of the notorious Salvadoran gang MS-13 have been arrested and indicted on federal charges in the killing of three teenagers that shocked a Long Island community last year. The arrests were made in a series of raids Thursday morning in Suffolk County executed by FBI and Suffolk police. Local and federal law enforcement have been cracking down on gang violence following the murders of the teenagers in Brentwood, N.Y., last year. MS-13 has been blamed for 30 other killings on Long Island since 2010. U.S. Attorney Robert L. Capers has scheduled a Thursday news conference to discuss charges related to the new arrests. FEDERAL INDICTMENT OF 37 MS-13 MEMBERS HIGHLIGHTS GANG'S PRESENCE IN CAROLINAS Nisa Mickens, 15, and Kayla Cuevas, 16, were slaughtered in a residential neighborhood near an elementary school in a Sept. 13 attack that came amid a national conversation about illegal immigration. In this Sept. 27, 2016 photo, a poster featuring photos of Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cueva is part of a memorial near the spot where their bodies were found in Brentwood, N.Y. The girls, who were best friends, were found murdered. Multiple teenagers from the same Long Island high school have been found dead and while police suspect all the deaths are related to gang violence, they are releasing few details. (AP Photo/Claudia Torrens)Expand / Contract A poster featuring photos of Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cueva, part of a memorial near the spot where their bodies were found in Brentwood. (AP Photo/Claudia Torrens) On Sept. 13, the day before her 16th birthday, Mickens' brutally beaten body was found on a tree-lined street in Brentwood. A day later, the beaten body of her lifelong friend, Cuevas, turned up in the wooded backyard of a nearby home. The teenagers had been inseparable and shared an interest in basketball. The killings may have been crimes of opportunity linked to ongoing gang fights at Brentwood High School, officials have said. Thirteen members of the MS-13 gang are facing federal charges in connection with the investigation, though not all are being charged in the killings, local and federal officials announced Thursday. Within a few weeks of the girls' deaths, the remains of three other Brentwood teens were found hidden in secluded areas. The body of 18-year-old Jose Pena-Hernandez was found on the grounds of the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood in October. Police also discovered the skeletal remains of 19-year-old Oscar Acosta and 15-year-old Miguel Garcia-Moran in a remote industrial area of the town. Acosta had been missing since May, and Garcia-Moran vanished in February. It is unknown if the suspects indicted will be charged with the killings of Acosta and Garcia-Moran. The identities of the suspects, including their immigration status, were not immediately released. Law enforcement officials have said MS-13 is the largest gang on Long Island with Suffolk County “cliques” concentrated in the villages of Brentwood, Huntington, Copiague, Farmingdale, and Islip. Since the killings last fall, Suffolk County police have arrested more than 125 suspected MS-13 gang members in Brentwood and elsewhere. "MS-13 functions like all immigrant organized crime groups, they start by targeting their own community," Lou Gentile, a former officer at the Organized Crime Unit of the Pennsylvania State Police and founder of the investigative firm CSI, told Fox News Latino. "You're seeing a growing Hispanic population in the Carolinas and MS-13 preys on their own, they exploit their own." The Associated Press contrinuted to this report.

Brutal ,vicious animals but not too bright as illustrated by the face tattoos . Only thing we may agree on is how to handle a mad dogs like these guys surely are . They have been coming back across the border for decades not sure how Obama gets the blame but you tell the story you want .

Police: 3 teen girls kidnapped by Salvadoran gang in Houston Associated Press March 3, 2017 HOUSTON (AP) — Two MS-13 gang members from El Salvador, both in the United States illegally, held three teenage girls against their will and killed one of them in a satanic ritual, authorities in Houston said Friday. Miguel Alvarez-Flores, 22, and Diego Hernandez-Rivera, 18, have been arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and murder — both first-degree felonies punishable by up to life imprisonment. Bonds totaling $300,000 have been set for each, but immigration detainers will keep both behind bars. The 15-year-old girl's body was found Feb. 16 with gunshot wounds to the face and chest. Homicide detective Sgt. Chris Sturdivant said the girl's identity has not been officially determined but that investigators are confident they know who she is — a girl reported missing in January in nearby Jersey Village, Texas. The captives were three "young, impressionable women" ranging in age from 14 to 16 who succumbed to the allure of gang life before being taken to an apartment and held there against their will, Sturdivant said. The 14-year-old girl told investigators that they were fed drugs and alcohol and forced to have sex. The girl said the 15-year-old was killed in a satanic ritual because she had struck the gang's shrine to a satanic saint, according to investigators. She told investigators that Alvarez-Flores made a peace offering to the figure in the form of a cigarette. "He returned from the statue and told the entire group that the beast did not want a material offering but wanted a soul," state District Judge Maria Jackson said during the men's initial court appearance Wednesday. The 14-year-old said she later awoke to find the 15-year-old gone, according to investigators. The case comes as President Donald Trump is promoting concerns over criminal immigrants in the United States illegally. He has announced that he plans to create an agency, called Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement or VOICE, to serve victims of immigrant crime and their relatives. It will be part of the Department of Homeland Security. "The majority of the MS-13 members we come into contact with are here illegally," Sturdivant said. Attorneys for Alvarez-Flores and Hernandez-Rivera did not immediately return calls Friday night. Sturdivant said both men admitted their involvement in the abductions and killing after their arrests Monday. An FBI multijurisdictional anti-gang task force continues to investigate, and Sturdivant said authorities are seeking other gang members who were possibly involved in the crimes. MS-13, also called Mara Salvatrucha, is believed to have been founded in Los Angeles in the mid-1980s by immigrants fleeing civil war in El Salvador. It is now a major international criminal enterprise. https://www.yahoo.com/news/police-3-teen-girls-kidnapped-salvadoran-gang-houston-195556145.html

I had a great gift from our Mexican border for dinner last night. Just down the street from us an immigrant family opened a great restaurant a number of years ago. Normally I order one of two different things off the menu but last night I tried something new, seafood molcajete. Oh. My. God. So delicious. I'm thankful to have access to such authentic cuisine so close to my front door. Thank you to the Chavez family for all you do to make my life more flavorful.

I go to a place in Troncones, Mexico. It's super quiet, off the beaten path. A six mile stretch of beach with only 150 rooms along it. The place I stay has room for about 11 guests. Nothing fancy but it's a great escape. Most of the locals don't speak English but they're really friendly. The food is amazing. Typically I just order the 'pesca del dia', catch of the day. Prepared however the cook chooses.

Where does it say they were illegal immigrants? Or does your ignorance and bigotry just assume anyone with a Latino last name is here illegally?
How about they were ahole violent gang members, just like ahole violent gang members with non Latino last names?

SICKENING ... a 3 YEAR OLD ... THANKS oBUMa Where u going to dinner tonight Portland? http://www.lifezette.com/polizette/sanctuary-ct-illegal-alien-arrested-assaulting-three-year-old/Sanctuary CT: Illegal Alien Arrested for Assaulting Three-Year-Old Undocumented suspect's horrific crime follows governor's decision not to comply with ICE An illegal immigrant was arrested Thursday in Connecticut for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl. Douglas Hus-Flores, a 19-year old Guatemalan living illegally in Stamford, Connecticut, was arrested just hours before a scheduled immigration hearing according to local police. Hus-Flores admitted his crime to police, telling them he “felt lonely and wanted to be with a woman,” according to the police report. A little over a week ago, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy issued a memo to the state’s law enforcement officers ordering them not to comply with federal immigration enforcement. “Putting all opinions about this presidential executive order aside, its enforcement is going to have a local impact, especially given the constrained resources and financial impacts this will have on state and municipal budgets, which we already know are stretched to their limits, in addition to giving rise to serious concerns in affected communities,” Malloy said in a prepared statement. Hus-Flores’ arrest came less than a week after the arrest of another illegal alien in Connecticut for a violent crime. Last Friday, Oscar Hernandez, an illegal alien deported previously for felony convictions, was arrested as the prime suspect in a double stabbing and kidnapping and torturing one victim and the murder of another in what was allegedly a satanic ritual sacrifice. Also on Thursday, more than a dozen MS-13 gang members living in Long Island, New York — most of whom are in the country illegally — were indicted for the brutal murders of several area high school students.

I did enjoy my meal. and will continue to enjoy many more from Chavez family. To prove they're all bad guys like your fearful leader blathered on about. Oh wait? http://www.nbcnews.com/id/44206940/ns/us_news-life/t/man-who-saved-girl-says-hes-illegal-immigrant/Man who saved girl says he's illegal immigrant By JERI CLAUSING The Associated Press ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The man who chased down an alleged child abductor and saved a 6-year-old girl from what could have been a horrible fate will be honored as a hero Friday. But he is also gaining a new kind of celebrity: as a poster child of sorts for immigration rights in state and national immigration debates. Antonio Diaz Chacon, 23, is a Mexican citizen married to an American and has been in the country for four years. But Chacon says he abandoned attempts to get legal residency because the process was difficult and expensive. Diaz Chacon, who works in Albuquerque as a mechanic, revealed his immigration status to the Spanish-language Univision TV network this week, prompting chatter on the Internet and social networking sites that his case underscored immigrant rights positions in two ongoing political debates. "I came to work, to work hard," he told Univision. "The only problem is I entered the country illegally and now we can't afford a lawyer to file the immigration papers." Some argue he is an example of the kind of immigrant the federal government will now largely leave alone. The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that deportations would focus on criminals. "As exceptional as his story is," said Christina Parker, a spokeswoman for Border Network for Human Rights in El Paso, "It points to the fact that most undocumented immigrants living in the United States are not criminals. He's more than not a criminal now. He's a hero." Others used it to blast New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez's ongoing attempts to repeal a state law that allows foreign nationals, including illegal immigrants, to obtain a driver's license. The governor has put the repeal — which was defeated in the regular session earlier this year — on the agenda for a September special session. Story: 'Backdoor amnesty'? Fewer youths to be deported under new Obama policy Diaz Chacon's status didn't play a role in Albuquerque's decision to honor his bravery. Mayor Richard Berry declared Friday Antonio Diaz Chacon Day and held an afternoon ceremony where he presented Diaz Chacon a Spanish language plaque recognizing his bravery in jumping in his pickup and chasing the suspect until he crashed into a light pole. Diaz Chacon then rescued the girl as the driver of the disabled van ran into the desert. The suspect was arrested later by police. Diaz Chacon, with his wife and two daughters, was all smiles at the ceremony, which was also attended by the officers who eventually arrested accused kidnapper Phillip Garcia. "He says he is really happy and content and there's no larger words for it," his wife Martha, who was translating from Spanish for him, said. "It is a real large happiness." Asked in a telephone interview with the AP Thursday what would be the best reward for his actions, he said he had already gotten it: a thank you letter from the little girl. In deciding to hold the ceremony, city officials said the question of Diaz Chacon's immigration status never even came up. "Today's proclamation for Mr. Diaz Chacon is to celebrate the heroic actions that he demonstrated when he saved the life of a 6-year-old girl in danger," the mayor's spokesman, Chris Ramirez, said in a statement. "Mayor Berry is proud of Mr. Diaz Chacon's actions and joins the community in honoring his heroism." Story: Offers pour in for man who thwarted child's abduction The governor's office said it's position was unchanged and accused immigrants rights groups of exploiting Diaz Chacon. "The Governor believes foreign nationals here legally, whether through work pemits or visas, should be able to receive driver's licenses, but is opposed to giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants," Martinez's office said in a statement. "The radical special interest groups shamefully exploiting this man, who may or may not be here illegally, to further their cause cannot ignore the litany of well-documented cases of this policy that put the public at risk, one of which occurred literally a few blocks away at a Denny's restaurant in 2009 when gang members from El Salvador who had driver's licenses committed a murder." Marcela Diaz, with the Santa Fe-based Somos Un Pueblo Unido, said the larger question was the fact that Diaz Chacon could admit to being illegal in New Mexico without fear of being deported, but the same might not be the case in other states. "The question I would ask is, 'Would this have played out the same way if we were in Arizona, or Georgia or Alabama?' " she said. For his part, Diaz Chacon, a father of two, isn't worried and said he doesn't regret saving the girl. "I'm not worried. Why should I?," he said. "It's not like I committed a murder or a felony." The saying one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.
Now multiply that by a few 10s if not 100s of thousands and you get the picture.
Good clean water is great. But mix it with 2-3ppb Hg or PCBs and no one will touch the stuff. Just a little dab will do Ya!!!

I'm still patiently waiting for you to explain the facts of how this gang is Obama's fault . My guess is you will prattle about but have no real rebuttal . Not that I really expected much from you but I thought maybe your buddies would at least give some lame attempt at explaining away comically uneducated ramblings.

Its like ice cream and poop .... with one teeny tiny drop of poop u can ruin a thousand gallons of ice cream ... not sure witch way to go with today's installment ... let me know if u have any suggestions ... here's the 3 leaders in the clubhouse ... - show them polluting our water something our lib friends may even feign disgust at .. - a judge opening a secure door in the back of the courthouse so an illegal facing dui charges could escape the ice agents on the way to pick him up .. - posting a video and an article explaining the rise of the ms13 gang in the us and why it is squarely on oBUMa's shoulders ... I wanted to post that a day or two ago but it's fun watching king and ire meltdown over it ... so that one may have to wait a few more days ... *L*

I have this question about this guy and the restaurant manager that is in legal trouble due to their immigration status and it applies to both of them:
Being that they're both MARRIED to AMERICAN CITIZENS doesn't that grease the wheels in the process?
Honestly, I was shocked when swish gave some details about the hoops his wife had to jump through to become a citizen being he was in the military at the time.

It should help a ton, but with this new administration, who knows.
The problem is what if they decide to deport him First, then "allow" him to go through the process. It's gonna be hard getting approved with a deportation already on his record.
My wife is legal, but now she's even paranoid because of this administrations stance on immigration, especially with the rift coming from the EU over travel visas and such.
We've already seen what he will do even with valid green card holders. So..... I dunno man but we're scared to even go visit Germany to be perfectly honest.

They need to get much more detailed with their executive orders. This is one of those times that a scalpel should've been used rather than a butter knife.

I like where you are going with this bad apple analogy. Let's extend that line of thought into outright breeding impurities right out of the population . I mean what could the downside be .
