Do you think they'd take Kizer in the first or hope he's there until the 2nd round (or trade back up into the first)? Jets are looking to trade back. Similar to what we did with Titans.

I was kinda hoping we would go after him, but I didn't really believe we would. I would have preferred getting a RT rather than a guard. Not that we have signed a guard yet....LOL While I'd rather have a true rt or c I'm certain there isn't one that's as dominant at his position as zeitler is. If we end up with him I think between what we have on the roster and another draft I think we can field a quality group and probably the deepest we've ever had.

You don't not trade for Cousins because you signed Brian Hoyer. Insurance policy.

49ers seem to be making moves. Garcon, Hoyer. All guys Shanny was familiar with. It's smart of them, even if the $$ aren't that clever looking (for Garcon). I think it primes them to potentially pick up a QB in the draft who will SIT.

Tony Jefferson - DB - Cardinals
The Browns are showing interest in free agent S Tony Jefferson. Jefferson would be a big upgrade for the Browns, who featured a revolving door at safety last year. The 25-year-old is expected to command $7-10 million annually. The Browns have more than enough cap space to pull that off. Related: Browns Source: Akron Beacon Journal Mar 8 - 3:12 PM

Jefferson, Trumaine Johnson and Pryor would make for a great free agency.
Sign Pazstor under the radar.
Maybe pick up an OL and a DT.
I'm very enthused if the above happens....

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What kind of a safety is Jefferson?
Edit: Looks like he can cover a bit. Doesn't seem to be one of those guys that needs to play near the LoS. Not just a thumper, but can hit.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I think Shanny picking up Hoyer (NFL reporting a 2 year deal) is telling about the Manziel affair. I think - and just my view - Pettine and Shanny wanted to stay the course with Hoyer. Guy had some skills, moxie. What a mess that all was EDIT: I think it's also saying Shanny and Lynch are on the same page.

What kind of a safety is Jefferson? A former undrafted free agent, Tony Jefferson has developed into an excellent strong safety and box defender for the Cardinals, and this past season, he earned a PFF run-defense grade 98.0. Jefferson recorded 35 defensive stops, third among all safeties, and missed only five tackles, less than half the figure of either of the players to better him in defensive stops. Jefferson has been solid in coverage close to the line of scrimmage, and would be a solid upgrade for teams looking for an upgrade at the position. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-top-50-nfl-free-agents-of-2017/

I think a tandem of Jefferson and Hooker or Budda Baker / Marcus Williams would be quite fabulous...

IIRC, he's very physical

According to Pete Smith one of the Brown's beat guys, the Browns reached out to Jefferson and were told no thanks.
I think they are trying to land FAs but so far guys aren't rushing to join a 1-15 cluster......the sucky thing about all these teams with cap space is that all these guys have options.
Against logic, the most effective armor is willful ignorance.

And some teams prefer to collect compensatory picks like the Ravens....a tale of two FA approaches.

The 49ers are still looking to add a top-line WR like Jeffery and FB Kyle Juszcyzk is a top priority as well (I bet they land him)... https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/839581271491768321Welp...back to hating JLC again. I bet Shanny looks at KJ as his potential DiMarco.

Jaguars agreed to terms with SS Barry Church on a four-year contract.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the deal is worth "more than $6 million per year." The second best safety on the market, Church reportedly received interest from a "number of teams" before landing in Jacksonville. He will replace Johnathan Cyprien as the starter next to Tashaun Gipson. Related: Cowboys Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter Mar 8 - 3:46 PM

That's a ton for a fullback (I know he does more). Good for him.
