Trump has already laid out what he would accept for a healthcare plan.
-Must be a better plan than ObamaCare. -Must cover everyone in America. -Must be affordable to all Americans. -Must cost less than ObamaCare. -Must cover preexisting conditions.
Does anyone have a plan that covers those things ready for his desk? Nope. However, he just endorsed the bill the house introduced. So what he wants and what he's endorsing isn't lining up. Yup. These guys are just asking to get booted out of office. Come 2018 the house and senate will shoot back the other way if they don't deliver here, and then what will we have? A nightmare.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

For one minute lets quit saying Obama has the answer/Trump has the answer/Dems have the answer/Repubs have the answer. Why? Because we have yet to define the problem accurately. What is the problem?
I hear access to health care but yet I don't know of a single person that can't go see a doctor of some type if they choose. So access ain't the problem.
Paying for access could be a legit issue. However, we can't agree on a definition of affordable in any manner that is reasonable. Pre ACA I was able to buy a family of 4 policy that cost me $3600 a year and had a$5000 annual out of pocket max. $8600 to cover 4 people and the masses thought tgat was to be expensive. The Barry comes in and defines premiums as affordable if they are 9.5% of your income which for me was about $9500 a yr in premiums alone not couting the out of pocket. Talk about your premium hikes...yikes. And I still hear people say $75-$100 /month is too high? Seriously? If that is the standard we can't even have a rationale debate.
Then we move on to our desire to have access to every medical marvel treatment entitled to man. There are lesser treatment options available but I rarely hear any of us go for that option outside of using generic drugs. What is wrong with using cancer treatments that are a decade old if the cost is 1/2 of new research? Sure there are problems with old tech but it worked. Is the cost of new tech worth it to you if it drives your premium 50% or more? Instead we demand the best even when we can't afford it. Be damn nice for me to own a tesla or Mercedes but I do just fine with my Chevy Colorado.
And finally why depend on uncle sugar?? He is broke. Most people argue they can't afford insurance cause they are in debt up to tgeir eye balls. Well duh, what do you think the status of the USA is? Broke don't even cover it. Research what a trillion dollars really is, multiply it by 19 (or 100 if you account for future liabilities). And when was The last time anyone really though the federal government did a fecking awesome job at anything. News Flash tgey always screw up.....always. So why rush to them for answers?
And then there is the lack of understanding on how claim history is the biggest influence of premium costs. We understand it with our car and house but somehow think it does not apply to health care.
Until we solve these delimas the details are meaningless.

You know better than to listen to the talking heads in Media. Did they figure in the tax credits that 60 year old will get? Did they figure in the lower deductibles he will have to pay? Did they figure in the lower Prescription prices he will pay since Trump met today with Elijah E. Cummings today about negotiating them lower? I will wait for the Bill to hit his desk.

I am ok with price controls in the areas of healthcare and education because these industries are way out of control and negatively impact too many people.
Beyond that my inner libertarian says the govt should not touch it.
And this is the rub I have with Rand Pauls plan. He is basically a libertarian and wants to replace the ACA with HSAs and nothing else. Any sick person knows this wont work. Hard to put money in an HSA when you can't work and are going bankrupt trying to keep up with medical expenses. The United States is the only industrial nation without price caps and regulations on healthcare costs. Its why consumers are absolutely raped in costs. Its why medical tourism is so popular. Nobody can afford to be sick in this country.
The solution starts with price caps and regulations. It can be fine tuned after that.

Eve maybe price caps are part of the solution but here is another. Why are maternity charges so high for paying customers?? In the hospital my mom works that has 8 maternity beds, they write off almost $250,000 A MONTH in unpaid bills. Now we all know stuff is never truly writen off. It is embedded in the price of paying clients.
Pay your bills and the prices goes down for everyone.

Well you should check out maternity costs in other countries and be totally shocked how cheap it is. 250K is the rape of consumer wallets. If it was an actual reasonable price then people would pay it.

paying bills would be easy if it didn't literally cost more than some people make a year for certain procedures. a lot of times these insane prices are coming from the industry simply because they know that the money is gonna come in one way or another. The industry charges these outrages prices simply because they can. if healthcare is gonna get fixed, then at some point, congress and the president - no matter what party is running the show- is gonna have to grow a pair and introduce price caps.

And who pays for that?
Then you have the folks who take the highest deductible, can't afford it and walk away.
Who pays for that?

That's what insurance is for. People just refuse to prioritize insurance in their life. Cigs beer, cabel, massive cell plans, dining out and having a car payment tgat never ends is more important.

People with high deductibles were supposed to invest the savings by going with these plans into HSAs for use when needed. Whose fault is it they opted to not follow through on their end..theirs.

so you're stance is for people to be slaves to the healthcare cost no matter what how high the industry is charging?

Thank you. Now on to EOB 101. Ignore the billed/charged amount. As you never pay that. As I said I get capped at $6000 for a $30000 L&D charge ( which after HSA funding saves an additional 20% so all in cost is $4800. Throw in premiums of $4000 a year and bam. $8800 to have a baby. I am sure the numbers in the link don't included taxes paid in countries that subsidized "free" health care.

live to work, not work to live. motto of the US. Despite Abe's best intentions, slavery is alive and well. The modern day wage slave just ain't getting whipped or hanged. And all races are included in this illusion of freedom.

which is why it makes no sense that you're advocating for having us paying the industry whatever the hell they feel like charging.

At lot of/most people dont have HSAs so I dont think you can apply that in a general sense. Also, your cap only applies to you. It certainly doesnt apply to people who dont have health ins, which are the people youre complaining about. So I think youre reaching a bit.

Eve there is little stopping most people from getting insurance outside of a willingness to prioritize.
I am no saint. I waste a boat load of money on stupid stuff. Heck I pay well into 5 figures for my teenage girls to play softball. And there are other girls on our teams that parents pay as much and don't carry insurance. How am I supposed to buy their whoa is my plight.
Again...priorities.

Again...priorities. You know I used to think and act like you. Made great money, got agitated at those who complained all the time. Voted straight Republican and was 100% into keeping all the money I could no matter who went without... Then tragedy struck my health, 911 changed the world and changed the game in business, more health issues with the wife, shortly after Bush killed my business, health issues hit me again... Been a struggle to get back to half of what I used to make and I'm damn good at what I do. So while you're sitting up there looking down, take my advice and remember it's not so far to the ground. Seeing many other people endure needless hardship has taught me a lot of life lessons. Living through some really tough times of my own has opened my heart and my mind to the fact that everyone has a story and circumstances that you might not understand, but that doesn't make them any less of a person or any less respect worthy. Having somebody or something tear away everything you've worked for is hard. Being sick while that happens is horrible. Not being able to do anything about it. just plain sucks. Your situation is good by comparison, so maybe, just maybe, you should be a little more thankful and a little less judgemental.

The numbers that I posted originally a few pages back were not from liberal talking heads, I copied and pasted the text from the house bill and posted here

I was buying my own insurance and caring for my priorities at a time when me when I was no where near as financially stable as I am today. My views were forged back then when me and the wife were supporting two girls on $48,000 a year, paying for day care, insurance and a student loan. They have not changed just cause we are doing better now.
And am not sure how evaluating priorities people have in life (especially the material priorities I presented) is a sign of disrespect.

When the economy collapsed, my customers (sales businesses) could not get their customers financed. My business was providing leads for sales to them and it was very lucrative. When financing dried up, many of my customers were forced make cut backs, I was one of the first things they cut back. After a few lean months, my customer started dropping like flies (going out of business). Some of them closed the doors on 30 year old plus businesses.
It took over 2 and a half years for financing to start to return, but even today it is much harder to finance those customer than it was back then. Out of my top 100 clients, only 30 or so are still in business today.
My business relied on heavy sales to justify the cost of producing the leads I sold. If I had 100% of the existing clients in the market paying me at a higher rate, I would lose money generating leads. This industry was very stable before, all but died after. In 5-10 more years it might be back to what it was, but I'm not sure I will be interested in putting in all that effort by then.
So yes, I blame Bush for the collapse and deregulating the financial industry allowing them to create that bubble was all on his watch. So there's your answer.

I'm sure there's more to it than what I took out of your post.
Because what I took out of your post was "I was a/the middleman between customers that wanted financing, and the financing company. And I made a lot of money being in the middle."
Perhaps I'm wrong in that assessment?
And, how did Bush kill your business again?

He wasnt a middleman. He was the consultant telling businesses where to find customers. When businesses run into financial hardships, consultants are the first to go.
