To be clear, I have not criticized the FO at all. And, I am not criticizing them now. I just think that some people are very narrow-minded when it comes to evaluating specific situations.
I really don't know what happened, thus I haven't said much on the topic, other than to point out the absurdity from mac and the absurdity from the polar side.......like being "grossed out" by Pryor. LOL
Now, I have an opinion as to what may have happened........but have been reluctant to share it because I really don't know. But, since you asked:
I think the Browns made the offer that has been widely reported. I think Pryor's camp thought they could get more. I think that led to the Browns signing Britt, which led to them not be willing to give Pryor that original contract offer. I think Pryor's reps might have contacted the Browns again, but it was already too late. Thus, Pryor signed w/the 'Skins on a one-year "show me" deal.
I am not blaming either side. It's business and stuff happens.
I do wish that an agreement between the two parties could have been reached because I think the Browns are a better team w/Pryor than w/out him. But, I'm not going to play the blame game. Just my opinion - I think 99% of posters agree with that narrative. I think posters and what gets written gets skewed because people start presenting their posts in a way to foil or counter Mac.

Seems like BS to me. He would have gone back and signed with the team who offered 11 mil. Of course it does. It's not a completely positive article about the Browns. It's gotta be fake. So you believe that Pryor was offered a multi year deal at $11 per year - making him a top 10-12 paid WR in the NFL .... and he turned it down for $6 million with a chance to earn an additional $2 million if everything goes just right. . . . If you don't think that sounds like BS please be specific. Coz I have already come out and said I think that is complete and total fabrication. I mentioned this once already, but go back and read that again. The way I read that is those multi-year offers were for a total of 10M and 11M, not 10/11M per year. I do not see where that states those are annual amounts. So, I could see him preferring a 1 yr/8M deal over a 2 year 10M deal.

You might be right. I don't know. At this point I don't care and it doesn't matter. If your version of events is true - it is more credibility and validity that the Browns FO did an outstanding job of offering Pryor the highest value contract. . . . if my initial take is right, the claim is simple b.s spin from the agent. . . . as I said - I think Vers summary is something most people would be happy to agree with: - Browns made a fair offer. - Pryor has every right to try to get himself max contract. - No-one needs to be 'blamed' for Pryor not being on the team. - Browns would probably be better off with Pryor on the team ... I know I wanted him back. The rest is speculation.

That is what gets me. If the Browns and Skins were the only teams offering $8 mill a year and the other offers were even less then how does his agent think he's going Pryor $15 mill a year. Even if he puts up similar #s again this year I highly doubt anyone is going to make him the 2nd highest paid WR in the league.

Pryor is gone. He went to a team that just fired their GM and made alcohol a public declaration. I don't even think Cousins had signed his tender at the time TP signed. If he felt that was what was best for him, then good luck to him.
No use in arguing it. You can't say the front office didn't try. It's clear they did. We have to move on with Coleman, Britt and someone else and hopefully the entire unit can step it up. Hopefully... theoretically speaking, the ground and pound game will be nasty and all the WRs will benefit from play action.

I think it was still out there, but he was gaming the Browns to give him more money... saying this is where I'm going to go unless you increase your offer. Word was that the Browns offer was the best of the lot but Pryor bet on himself thinking he is going to do better this season and put himself in position to be one of the highest paid WR in the league. Why would we outbid ourselves when we had the best offer? Insane. I think Pryor's hubris and agent put him in this spot. Good luck to him.

As for all the 1 year deals players, including himself, are signing around the league this year, Pryor had a pretty candid explanation. “Some guys don’t want to take deals where they’re outplaying their deal,” Pryor said. “At the end of the day, I know it’s a business. That wasn’t part of my decision in terms of prevention. I just wanted to get a one-year deal and see how I fit with the program and move forward after that and see if we get something done later on if everything works well.” http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2017/03/13...han-browns-was/

Pryor: Redskins' QB situation won't be like '16 Browns http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...-like-16-brownsWashington's new wideout, Terrelle Pryor, wasn't exactly panicking about the Redskins' quarterback situation upon his arrival. He's seen worse in Cleveland. "I don't want to say it was my first priority because at the end of the day you want to be wanted," Pryor told reporters in D.C. Monday, via comments distributed by the team. "You want to be with a team that wants you to be on the team. In Washington, they were very aggressive in terms of wanting me to be on the team. I played with six quarterbacks last year. I don't think it could get that bad. Obviously, I would like to play with Kirk (Cousins); I would be an idiot if I didn't believe that. I think he's a great quarterback and hopefully that's what happens." Pryor was among a horde of talented young players who are inking one-year prove-it deals in free agency. Initially a lock to return to Cleveland, Pryor gave himself a chance to test the market. While he did not come out and say it, Cleveland did not seem to show him the love. "I don't want to come off rude or anything, but at the end of the day now, it doesn't really matter," Pryor said. "I'm here and a lot of things that people do is back track. I can't really go back now and all I can think of is the future with the Redskins this year and being the best teammate and the best player that I can for them. That's all I can really talk about in terms of free agency." At the end of the day, this might be the best move for Pryor. While it would have been nice to come full circle and remain with the Browns, he's looking to maximize his market for 2017-18 and it might be tough to do so with Cleveland's current setup. Should Hue Jackson end up nabbing a Jimmy Garoppolo-type, then Pryor might regret his choice, but in Washington he is paired with a quarterback in Kirk Cousins who is looking to do exactly the same thing. With the organization going through some changes, it seems clear Cousins' heart is elsewhere, too. Both now find themselves with no other option than to make the best of a bad situation and cash in a year from now. Come next March, both could be feeling very wanted.

I've seen unsubstantiated conclusions that Britt got the deal intended for Pryor, insinuating it was pulled from Pryor, but given what Britt signed for and what was offered to Pryor, I don't see any reason we wouldn't have been willing to sign both. By signing a 1 yr deal I think what Pryor is really doing is betting on himself. He's sacrificing the a safe deal for an opportunity to have a break out year and command significantly more. It's a ballsy gamble to be sure. If our FO wasn't willing to do a 1 yr deal with him, I can't blame them for having their own priorities.

If the season starts to turn bad in DC, or I guess you could say worse..
Don't be surprised to see a lot of cuts to the sideline to see Kirk and TP yelling at each other.

I agree. TP seems to be the kind of guy who is great when things are going well for him. He went through a phase last season where is seemed to be pouting. It was written off as he hates losing.
I don't think any player likes to lose. If so, Joe T must be one of them because he has remained about as even keeled as anyone could be over the last 8-9 years.

Pryor said. "I'm here and a lot of things that people do is back track. For example, whenever I catch a ball." Fixed it!

It's a ballsy gamble to be sure. If our FO wasn't willing to do a 1 yr deal with him, I can't blame them for having their own priorities. I thought my post was somewhat clear, but... I don't think anyone can blame a front office. They are trying to find players to win when one players demands more money "just because." From what I've read, the FO made an offer, the best offer to Pryor. However, Pryor still wanted more. It's as if you went to buy a jetski and offered $1000. The seller says you offered the most, but still feels it's worth more. So now he's gotta go out and improve his jetski's worth and hope next season when he goes to sell the jetski is worth more or the market demand has increased. You can read that how you want, but it's really kinda silly to blame the Browns front office for Pryor's actions. I am of the opinion it is imperative that we do not overpay for someone. I don't think we overpaid for any of the new FA's, that's just what they're worth to us. As was with Schwartz last year, I just don't think you want the players to dictate the market. It could set a bad precedent.

Yes, the FO is perfect in every way and anyone who leaves is the devil. Yikes. Kinda harsh. I'd say no one is the devil here. Pryor wanted to make more money than was offered, meaning he'll probably have to prove himself further. Hence the route he took. And I wouldn't call any FO perfect. Some our better than others, and while I agree that our FO seems to know what they're doing I still wouldn't call them perfect.

I think the disconnect.
Is that one person is blaming the FO. Like, beyond reasonably.
And beyond just ignoring them (can we do that? Please?) the only recourse is to try to "shift" the blame away from the FO, which in turn puts it more on Pryor.
When in fact no one is to "blame", they had a diffence in value, and went their separate ways.

My only problem with Pryor is when he says things like he "just wanted to go where he felt wanted"
Because that's utter and complete BS.

Because that's utter and complete BS. Not necessarily.... to him being "wanted" is getting a boatload of money. He wants to be the man, the hero. Can't fault him for that. He doesn't fit what we are doing apparently, or we would have upped to ante.

AHHHHH - you might be on to something at last. Something no-one else has thought about properly! Sashi's plan to jettison Pryor was to offer him the best contact in free agency.... knowing Pryor would never sign it because Pryor wanted to play for the Browns so much. Brilliant! brilliant

I am not trying to reason with him any more. More like pointing out how totally unsustainable his agenda is. And if I can make someone smile along the way - so much the better.
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

My only problem with Pryor is when he says things like he "just wanted to go where he felt wanted"
Because that's utter and complete BS. Yea, Sashi Brown wanted Pryor...sure. Dude, come off it already. When it comes down to it Pryor didn't earn anything beyond a 1 year deal anyway be it from Washington or anyone else. Yes, he's a gifted athlete. Yes, he's probably a WR that isn't likely to be a weak link. But he barely got 1000 yrds. This isn't to say he won't have more success in the future, but with only 1 season under his belt he doesn't have enough history at the position to substantiate any belief about what his productivity going forward will be good OR bad. Frankly, Sashi would have been more than justified had we only offered Pryor a 1 year show me deal. It certainly would have fit in to their analytic approach. Instead they extended an offer based mostly on faith that Pryor would produce on average like he did this past season over the next several years. And I know I'm right in saying Pryor hadn't earned the offer we made him because no one offered any better. Some are going to say I'm hating on Pryor... I'm really not. But I didn't see anything in his game that suggests to me that he's going to be Megatron 2.0, Randy Moss 2.0, or even Break Out Season Josh Gordon 2.0. After 2017 he may show that he is indeed and it'll be interesting to see what we do. Look, I get it. You probably spent good money on a TP jersey last season and are ticked because he's no longer on the team. I seriously do get it! I had a Wimbley jersey, T Rich jersey, and a Manziel jersey (ALL were gifts or contest prizes).. and the very next year they were all let go by the Browns. Heck, I scraped my money up as a kid and bought a Leroy Hoard jersey and 4 weeks later they announced the whole damn team was leaving. The smart money would be to get a jersey w/ my name on it, but what would happen to me?! I will give you this though, to this point this off season, I am not particularly excited about our WR room at the moment.

I can't tell with your posts.
Just read another post of yours and I had to step back and determine if you're for real or being sarcastic... There used to be unwritten gentledawgs agreement that sarcastic posts were written in purple. Most of the more veteran Dawgs know each other well enough they've moved beyond that which is fine. Me though, I like the occasional splash of color so I'm not ashamed to use it when appropriate.

Well, I think that purple rule was for Daman. LOL Besides, I think the beauty of good sarcasm is when people aren't sure if the speaker is being sarcastic or not. You know what I mean?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...retty-big-year/Terrelle Pryor’s full incentive package requires pretty big year Posted by Mike Florio on March 14, 2017, 6:22 PM EDT Getty Images Washington receiver Terrelle Pryor opted for a one-year, $6 million deal with up to $2 million tied to incentives. To get the full $2 million, he needs to have a pretty big year. And that could be hard to do if quarterback Kirk Cousins isn’t there. Per a source with knowledge of the contract, Pryor’s incentives fall into three categories: catches, yards, and touchdowns. He can make another $1 million based on receptions, another $500,000 based on receiving yards, and another $500,000 based on touchdowns. As to receptions, Pryor gets $250,000 for 60 catches, a total of $600,000 for 70 catches, and a total of $1 million if he has 80 receptions or more. As to receiving yards, he gets $150,000 for 750 yards, a total of $300,000 for 1,000 yards, and a total of $500,000 for 1,250 yards. As to touchdowns, Pryor gets an extra $100,000 for six, a total of $300,000 for eight, and a total of $500,000 for 10. To get the full $2 million (and to make the contract worth $8 million), Pryor needs to have 80 or more catches for 1,250 yards and 10 touchdowns. Based on his 2016 performance (77 catches, 1,007 yards, four touchdowns), Pryor would have made an extra $750,000. While there’s a very good chance Pryor will be even better at receiver in his second full year playing the position, it will be harder to get there if Cousins is gone. And it will be ironic, to say the least, if Cousins gets traded to the team that Pryor left.

This confirms my ideas of what transpired. I could still be wrong, but I think I'm close. He wanted big money, something I would have also wanted. His agent tries to sell him as a top 5 reciever and their are no takers. The Browns, meanwhile offer him a decent contract, and stability of a 4 year deal. His agent then tells him, if you can hold out for one more year, I can show you that money. Now, the Redskins come calling, with a show me one year deal. Pryor is dedicated to his cause, and IMO believes he is going to show well. He hears the deal, and then goes to the Browns and says, give me a one year deal and it is done. The Browns, who are trying to build a team to keep together for a few years, realize, that if he goes off, it is going to cost them big time the next time. No ones fault, no body to blame, just business and two different plans. Pryor's is to be great and break bank, the Browns trying to lock down a good player. If he gets injured, or if the Skins falter, he will lose a lot of money, but, IMO, if he goes off, he will go to the highest bidder.

On that team, he will be the top target, or decoy. Double coverage is coming his way.

They have Reed at TE and Crowder at WR.
Reed might be the second best TE in the league and he isn't injured as much as the top guy. Crowder is a young WR who is really blossoming.
