Even though it is my belief and hope that the Garoppolo deal goes through the Jets picks is important.
If the Pat's get rediculous and just won't do business then the draft is where we have to go.
We all should cheer for the Jet's to bring in Cutler. Seems like a perfect fit NY and Cutler. Great press.
If that happens the Browns are most likely home free with pick 12.
The 49'ers signing Hoyer is a good thing. Shanny wants Cousins but can live with Hoyer until they can get Cousins. With the second pick they have plenty of spaces to fill. The new regime has a grace period to get their QB. I don't see then using the second pick in the draft for a QB unless it is in a trade with Washington.
So back to the Jet's with pick 6. If Cutler goes there then most likely they use that pick on a different position than QB. If Cutler does not go to the Jets then the Browns may have to consider jumping the Jets to insure they get the guy they want.

Well bonefish I hope the Garoppolo deal falls through but I'm with you on Cutler to the Jets and hope that Trubisky is there at 12 ...

They Browns FO would be utter fools to choose to move up from the 12th spot for a QB this year.

This FO loves draft picks to much to move up I think they will either shock the football world and take Trubisky @ 1 or will simply wait and hope he is there at 12 ... JMHO

I don't think we are going to move up...I think we are going to stay at 12 and draft another offensive weapon.

There is no scenario where I see the Browns using the first pick on a QB in this draft. Garrett will be wearing a Browns uni.
Pick 12 value 1200pts. Pick 5 value 1700pts.
500 pts equals 8th pick second round. Or 2 fourth rounders. Approximate values based upon value chart.
So second rounders in 2018 are in play or some other combination.
If they feel that the Jets are going QB; they have the ammo to insure they get their guy. Bear in mind Hue Jackson's mission this year; secure the quarterback of the future.

I hope they wouldn't, I would love to have Garrett smacking QB's around for us and not someone else ...

The only way I see us moving up is if they're in love with Adams or Hooker, but even then I'd be surprised. I don't see us moving up from 12 for a QB. Maybe 33 or a later pick, but not 12.
If Cutler is a Jet, I could see Marshon Lattimore being the Jets pick, maybe Hooker.

I don't agree with the following ...
- I don't think Hoyer prohibits Shanny from drafting a QB at #2 ... Cousins would .. but thats really risky .. many things could change between now and next March ...
- I don't think Glennon prohibits the Bears from drafting a QB at #3 ...
- I don't think the Jets bringing Cutler in would prohibit the Jets from taking a QB at #6 ...
PS. We still have the Jill's at 11 ....
IMO we're FAR FROM HOME FREE that either MITCH or Watson will fall to 12 ...

ESPNs newest mock doesn't have a QB going till 13.
Kizer to Arizona.

I don't believe any analytics would allow a team to draft a kid with only 13 starts in the first round. The odds of success are astronomical.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The Jets (Chargers too, maybe more) have already intimated that they want to drop back in the draft. I believe that if Trub is still on the board at 6 when Jets are on the clock, the Browns will offer up a 2nd next and maybe a 5th as well to move up to 6 and select him.

From everything they have said they will follow Hue's direction on QB. So I doubt analytics has much do with it..........although I share your concern with the 13 starts.

Anyone else see the part of Gruden's QB camp where Trubisky didn't know what a hard count was? I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Hopefully, the Browns will trade for Jimmy G and all this talk of overvaluing these draft eligible qbs will be for fans of other teams. Bro.........I am making my big board. I'm up to number 18 and I don't have a single qb listed yet. Not saying I am an expert. Just saying what I think of this year's class. And I could be wrong. Last year, I had Wentz around the 14--16 mark and that was obviously wrong.

I did mine and have Trubs at 19. He's the only one that I would take in the 1st, and because of his position I have no problem taking him at 12 just not 1.
I really thought we had a good shot at trading for JG, but it is real iffy if the Pats actually wanted to trade him. Trubs has the ability to be a long term starter, but man those 13 starts bother me......if he had 25 I would be with Diam, but he's just so inexperienced.

I have more concerns than just his lack of experience. That's a big concern, but I think he has other issues.

What do you see? I see him jittery in the pocket from time to time, and his footwork needs help. I just chalked that up to experience. His arm isn't a cannon, but its plenty strong enough, and as when his accuracy is off it's usually do to footwork, and throwing off his back foot too much as well.
He seems to be bright from everything I've read, but of course there is bright and the ability to process information at an incredibly fast rate......I don't know how you judge that though without them actually doing it. I expect he'll struggle with complex NFL Ds in the beginning.
Everything I see is related to lack of experience/reps. What are you seeing??

Jets would just be bringing Cutler to keep the seat warm for their rookie QB but considreing they appear to be in major overhaul mood, I dont know if they will take one anyway. I believe they will look to move down take their QB and try to acquire as many picks as they can. Its rebuild mode. Question is do they like a QB enough to take one at 7 answer is likely no.

I have a few concerns w/Trub.
--Obviously, the lack of game experience. But y'all have already covered that.
--I can't get past him not being able to beat out Marquise Williams for two straight years. Williams did not make an NFL roster after he left UNC. From my research, I got the feeling that their HC had questions about Trub's leadership and maturity. That's actually two knocks right there.
--Trub fumbled 16 times this year. That is a very high number.
--Trub did have a couple of late-game comebacks, but he often had some of his worst throws when it mattered most. Picks in the Georgia, Duke, and bowl games were devastating. He also had quite a few other throws that could have been picked late in games.
I think he has some skills. Nice arm. Adequate size. Better athlete than some think. Good touch. Can make all the throws. Accurate most of the time. He very well could develop into a good qb.
I just would not draft him w/either of our top two picks. Too risky.

U now have to throw the bills in the mix at 11 also ... turns out Taylors deal locks him up for only one year ...
Tyrod Taylor's restructured two-year contract contains just $1 million guaranteed after 2017.
Taylor is slated to make $14.5 million in 2017, but the Bills will have another decision to make after this season. Just $1 million of his base salary in 2018 is guaranteed, and a $6-million roster bonus which likely is due early in the league year will force them to commit or not commit to Tyrod early next offseason. Even if they pay the roster bonus, Taylor is now scheduled to hit free agency after the 2018 season. With that level of uncertainty about Tyrod's future, the Bills should still be looking hard at quarterbacks early in the draft.

Just start Sackenberg. At least then you can pretend you're trying to "see what he has" I wonder if Bowles survives. Set up for failure basically.

The Jets have invested draft picks on quarterbacks. Petty and Hackenberg are on the roster and have been deemed not ready yet. According to Brandon Marshall Hackenerg will challenge this year for the job.
Cutler going there gives them more time to learn.
Cutler goes there I doubt they will pick a quarterback at 6.

To be honest I really do not see much separation between Watson, Trubisky, Kizer, and even Mahomes.
None of these prospects stand out as clear choices.
There are drawbacks on each guy.
Yet people are talking like it is ok to give up the first pick on Trubisky. I don't get it.
In the same breath people don't want to give up much for Garoppolo. In my mind Garoppolo is clearly the best prospect.
Then there is the Garoppolo argument that he only has two NFL games?? He is a better prospect than this class if he was just coming out of college.
The Browns have made all these moves to accumulate assets and people don't want to give up picks for Garoppolo??
All of these quarterback draft prospects in my mind carry a late first round or second round grade.
Watson is one guy that at least can point to a complete and excellent college career. And even with that he stands even with the rest.

This season, the Carolina quarterback has coughed up the ball a whopping 16 times. While he doesn’t throw many interceptions, Trubisky’s fumbles need to be cleaned up. http://isportsweb.com/2016/11/16/scouting-report-on-unc-quarterback-mitch-trubisky/

But, he did put it on the ground that many times. Oh..........and see..........I don't mind being questioned and having to justify my answers.

Yea, I saw the article, thanks PitDawg, that's a ton of fumbles. Does he have an issue with holding the ball too long, or not getting out of the pocket? Definitely a big concern. But I didn't really like him in the first round anyways, don't like any of the QBs in the first. Way to risky for me.
