I did forget.

I don't think my brain could actually process that idea.

j/c:

What does any of this have to do w/the Browns ability to evaluate Kessler vs Dak?

Man, people on here constantly spin things to favor the FO. Then, y'all freak out when mac does the same exact thing, albeit from the completely polar point of view.

Both sides are annoying.

I don't really know how to answer your first question.

Dak was a better prospect than Kessler.

Sports franchises are also a business, and PR is a part of that.

They may have had him rated higher. But with the DUI, (In my opinion) they "couldn't" draft him.

That'd be like the Ravens drafting Joe Mixon right after cutting Ray Rice. (On a much more worse scale obviously)

I just don't buy the Gordon/Manziel thing.

For one, we brought in Briles and Williams. We have shown interest in Mixon. We signed Britt.I get they didn't have drug backgrounds, but all have a history of problems.

Secondly, if the Browns really wanted to make a statement about moving away from Gordon/Manziel.............why haven't they cut Gordon? Wouldn't that be more dramatic than not drafting Dak?

So...umm..Who thinks we trade for Kirk? I give it about a 1% chance that happens.

I think it would be cool if we did, with the number 12 pick.

I want Garrett is why. we still have a long ways to go.

It may be a pure BS excuse...it may be exactly why they did what they did.

Neither Briles nor Williams were brought in back in April - meaning shortly after the Manziel saga ended...neither guy was brought in to be the QB and potential face of the franchise. Lumping Briles & Williams together is exceptionally unfair (to Williams) and misleading (as one guy may have covered up a rape(s) and the other guy just got caught doing what "tough" NFL teams may do as well). Briles came in for a practice or 2/3...has not been convicted and...we didn't hire the guy. Mixon's awful transgression happened a long time ago and he has already been punished (makes a difference in the eye of public opinion)...and oh yeah, we haven't drafted him yet.

#1 - I don't think they can cut Gordon while he is on suspension; #2 - Gordon has All-Pro potential, costs them absolutely NOTHING, and the NFLPA is about to negotiate for a policy change in an area that many people think is a joke and is the policy that HE BROKE that has him on suspension; #3 - At that/this time no one but Browns fans even know the Gordon story/issue - he's about as low-profile as can be. Quite a different issue than drafting a mid-Rd QB - who was dumb enough to get a dui right before the draft - to be the face of the franchise.

All the feel-good / feel-bad about what the Browns did/do can easily be traced to just how good is the guy? If Manziel were really, really, really good...he'd still be on the team. If Dak were rated last year to be a unanimous STUD we would have overlooked our character concerns. It's not just a Browns thing.

These things have to be looked at objectively and on their own merits...generalizations like yours in that post are like comparing apples to oranges.

That's a pretty excellent analogy. It's more extreme, but a good parallel imo.

I know that Dak eventually got off the DUI charge - but from memory that was a technicality rather than him being innocent.

Still - he was a 4th round pick. Dallas caught lightning in a bottle. Much like the Pats with Brady. It's not something you can plan on regardless of how good your scouting and player eval is.

RME... that mean 'rolling my eyes' .....
I doubt anyone is intent to prove the FO wrong about Kessler.
If you can't see he lacks an NFL arm, that's on you and speaks of either your (at times)!nauseating homerism, or lack of ability to recognize an NFL caliber arm.

Okay, that's fine.

Others do have a problem w/him. Some of us don't like his constant attacks when we are simply trying to be objective. It does not bother me that you have no problem w/his tactics, but don't tell us that we don't have the right to be bothered by them.

Fair enough?

Didn't say that. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion, but if you post it here, then you may expect a retort...

I don't care if you retort or not. I am expressing my opinion that he is a terrible poster.

I'm sure you, and many others, think the same about me.

It is what it is.

But, it was you who questioned Lamp for defending himself AFTER tab attacked him. Thus, you should expect a retort or two, too.

That sounded cool. LOL

I didn't feel eotab was attacking me personally, but it bothered me that he made the snide remark about those of us who question kessler. In another thread he says something about "Ver's bootlickers" (it's one word btw, I fixed it in the edit lol). That bothered me, too, but in all honesty I don't dislike him, not at all. His homerism is at times annoying though.

With Monday's 4 pm deadline to sign franchise players looming, no deals close for Kirk Cousins, Le'Veon Bell, Trumaine Johnson at this time.

https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/886630207179960320

If Washington franchises Cousins after the 2017 season, I believe his salary will be $35 million (he made $20M in 2015 and is going to make $24M this year).

Washington played this all wrong. They likely could have signed him to a long term deal for less than $44M guaranteed.

The Rams are in a similar situation with Trumaine Johnson. They paid him $14M last year and will make nearly $17M this year. The Patriots got Stephon Gilmore on a five year contract at $31M. Not smart by the Rams.

It certainly seems like Cousins is going to be "available"next off-season:

From what I've read. Washington offered a contract that was heavily Front loaded into 2017 and then used that as a claim that his "2017 salary is the 2nd highest in league history"

And then the rest of the contract has him in the bottom half of QB salaries.

It's all a PR move. I don't think (for whatever reason) they want him there. If they did. He's of been locked up two years ago for Flacco type money.

Now they painted themselves in a corner with TWO franchise tags. Especially after Carr's contract..

What I've read is that the FO (Allen and Danny Boy) and others in the org. (Prolly Gruden and the coaching staff) are not in agreement on what he's worth ...

I'll be STUNNED if he re-signs with the Skins ... STUNNED ...

I don't think he's top 10 ... but man .. is the3re a lack of decent QB's in this league witch makes his worth much more than it should be .. but then again, thats the case with almost all QB's ...

Good Luck finding another one Skins ... lord knows we been looking long enough ... *LOL* ...

I know a lot of people don't watch many games. I saw that when we had the threads about why the NFL viewership is declining, but man..........Cousins is a good qb and Washington is acting foolishly.

My comment has nothing to do w/the Browns pursuing him. It's simply a comment on how freaking dumb I think Washington is.

I think their FO is a mess. They fired their GM right before the draft [I think I have that correct] and insinuated that he was an alcoholic.

It's pretty ugly there right now. I wonder if Grudin wishes he could get the hell out?

I will second the praise on Cousins. I think he is VERY underrated. Statistically, he is near the top and if we brought him to Cleveland I would be fine. Same with JG. THAT said, I seriously hope we have a future franchise QB in the waiting currently on our team. To go into 2018 draft not worrying about QB would be fantastic. But, I completely expect we will be QB searching next year too (via draft or FA).

I think Cousins is a better QB than Dalton and a Dalton level QB can win this division.
