You know........I was talking to a couple of people about this in PMs. Look at the sports talk shows and pre and post-game shows. They always make certain that a couple of the guys are going to disagree. CBS just put Simms w/Esiason. You know those two are going to fight. They always did on Inside the NFL.

Networks/radio stations want this because it is entertaining. It helps keep the interest up and they get better ratings. I personally do not see any problem w/us arguing on here. It helps keep the place interesting. As long as the moderation is consistent...........I have zero problems w/people disagreeing.

Interesting is fine, insulting, condescending or special clairvoyant knowledge of anothers intentions and then accusing them of being x, y or z is another.

I thought our meeting went great! I actually expected it to all along because it wasn't my first rodeo. lol

I've met a lot of posters of the board. Many of them are no longer around. But over time I have come to realize that perception on a message board in no way resembles reality. People are people and on this forum our passions sometimes spill over into our posting.

Your logic is exactly why I hate texting unless you're in a situation where there is no other choice. It's much harder to hear the intent and tone of ones voice. It gives you so much more insight than the written word.

If you're ever in the area again, hopefully under better circumstances, I would really enjoy meeting up again. The same goes for any of our Dawgs who visit the Nashville area. Heck, even 40! lol

In the interest of "correctness", Archbold is still tied with Crestview for consecutive league championships. They have 12, and so does Archbold.

Good news thread?

My lil Sooga knocked in the game winning run tonight in the district semi finals. Top of the 7th, tied 1-1. Runner on second base, Sooga comes up.

Then, she bloops a single into shallow right center. Runner scores.

She was 2-4 tonight, and oddly, her 2 best at bats resulted in outs. Line drive to the second baseman, and a deep fly ball to right center that the right fielder was able to get to.

Granddaughter graduated last night. Grandson graduating next week.

It will be very sad seeing her leave for college in the fall, yet so promising for a bright future.

Bachelor degree #1 is officially done.

Once I finish the supply chain management and operations degree next spring then I'm debating on if I should push for an MBA or just chill out and continue this real estate thing.

I spent all my savings last year on an apartment building, renovated it, and now I'm renting it out.

I have two properties right now (the 2nd one took a loan out) being rented out, so once(if) I hit 4 I'm going to go ahead and convert it into an actual business. Both are in Lakewood.

I was flying completely solo dolo on this. D.C. Helped me out a ton giving me some solid advice. But nobody I know has experience in this so I'm learning everything the hard way.

I had 16 properties between 01 and 06 when I lost them all. If you keep your debt as low as possible, you will do well.

I'd still go for the MBA. I painted for a guy way back when the housing market was still doing well and rates were low, a bunch of his tenants moved out of his places almost all at once, he had a breakdown trying to save his business.

How many units was your first building?

Oh no no no no no. I meant apartment unit. I don't have anywhere near the cash to by a building. Lol that was my fault for not being clear.

Just two units. One is a studio, the other is a 2 bed/2 bath.

The association/maintanence fees and taxes are low, so I make a decent profit off of rent. But I have all that money in the account I don't touch.

I dunno if I'll ever own an actual building. Damn bro you had 16? I see you, Trump!!!!

I might do the MBA because I still have benefits left on the gi bill. Might as well not waste it.

Yeah, that was back when all you needed was a pulse and they'd give you money. We had a bunch of debt when we started and then two kids diagnosed with autism, put us behind the 8 ball from the start.

Remember when I told you I've painted for two different people in logistics, LOADED.

Real estate can be very risky until you have enough profitable properties that you can weather some vacancies and still make a living.

Good news?

Girls softball got beat today, in district finals, by a score of 6-3.

Why is this good news? It isn't. The team they played has a pitcher, a sophomore, that has verbally committed to the University of Toledo. Now, I know verbal commitments don't mean much, at all. But what it does mean is, the girl is a good pitcher. She rang up 5 strike outs in the first 2 innings, and my Sooga was one of them.

Down 6-0 (due, in part to 2 home runs by one of their players, 1 being a, literally towering 3 run homer that possibly still hasn't landed - not kidding, I've never seen a home run with that distance, ever. It possibly should've counted for 2 home runs by itself).

But, the Bluestreaks came back. And, Sooga, a sophomore, ended up 2-3 against this "ace" pitcher.

And, my niece set a personal best in the district tournament in the 400 meter race.

Last thing on Sooga and softball. Sorry, can't help it.

Honorable mention All NWOAL as a sophomore. Yeah, the girl that didn't think she wanted to make the varsity team cause the pitchers pitched too fast - got voted honorable mention for being a hitter. It wasn't for her fielding, although she only had 2 errors this year. Only struck out 5 times in 71 at bats.

No, it was for her hitting. 8 teams in the league, and only coaches can vote.

Proud papa. All that time spent pitching to her? It's paying off. For the last 11 years? (check that - the last year she told me I wasn't pitching fast enough for her.)

I made it to Hawaii on Tuesday, and it's a trip with four of my students. I'm loving this place. We picked Oahu for our island.

We traveled three miles out into the pacific in a boat, and then submerged ourselves into a shark cage. We had 15 Galapagos Sharks swimming around us, and even had a chance to see a giant Barracuda!

Downside? I got sea sick after my time in the cage. Definitely worth getting sick to donthe cage dive, though.

Have fun. You ARE going to pearl harbor, right?

Wife and I were in Hawaii for our honeymoon - 20.5 years ago.

I have a story, which is, now, funny. At the time, it wasn't. (not about the honeymoon - but about something else)

Pearl Harbor? Maybe. Would be yes for sure, but circumstances for a few things remain out of my control.

Just recently got home from umpiring 2 softball games. Excellent, fun time.

Behind the plate, I only got nailed 5 times.

Heard 1 parent gripe, two different times, about a ball/strike count. So that's good.

(these were only games 2 and 3 for me, due to daughter's softball schedule in the spring). I'm loving it so far.

I made the news!!
I'm in LA right now for an arts festival. We made an appearance on the morning news on Friday.
There's a couple of videos in this link. Watch for the video with Jason and Tyler getting interviewed next to a giant fallen robot. I'm Jason. The robot, Mechan 9, is our creation.
I didn't say anything in the video. I was barely awake. Our trailer broke on the way down to LA leaving part of our team stranded until they could weld it back together. That meant a very late arrival to LA. We finished setting up Mechan at 3am. The interview was at 6am. I was barely standing at that point.

The Hawaii Trip was amazing!
Things we did:

Went out into the open ocean, three miles out, and I swam in a cage surrounded by sharks. (I got sea sick upon entering the boat from the water...)

Snorkeled in a collapsed Volcano crater.

Went to a swap meet at Aloha Stadium to get awesome and affordable Hawaiian souvenirs. Later that day we went to the phenomenal Polynesian Cultural Center.

We went ziplining at a ranch where many famous movies got filmed, and are still being filmed. (Jurassic Park, and many others)

We all took surfing lessons.

--------------------------

Now I'm back in Ohio! I get to spend this week in Columbus with my sister and her boyfriend. Then I travel to PA to hang with my girl and her family for the month. She comes to Ohio for all of July, and we see Blink-182 in Columbus at the end of August.

I'm excited.

So here's a great shot taken by a local guy that passed by and talked with me about Mechan. He had a DSLR so I gave him my email address and asked that he send his photos of Mechan our way. Well across the street from Mechan is LA City Hall. It has an observation deck. The guy went up there and took this shot. It's the best overhead photo we've ever gotten. Truly showing the scale of our work. I'm in the photo. The guy in the light colored shirt walking towards Mechan's body. For scale, I'm 6'2".

Finally got it loaded into the truck and onto the trailer. Man it's hard work with a crew of only four. Especially in the SoCal sun. Now off to find food and hop a flight home. Festival well done.
