D.C., I posted the article to illustrate how there is a THOUGHT of making the President immune to the law. Use the article as a vision of reference (as I stated). I thought I was clear when I posted: Now my question to my fellow citizens out there, do you agree with the President's lawyers that he should be immune from legal litigations, even the "petty" ones (the allegations are not petty by any means, I just want to include "petty" lawsuits as well)? This was not accusatory by any means. I must not have worded my answer correctly then so I will restate to more accurately answer the question you asked... Should the President be above the law when it comes to things like assault? Absolutely not. Should the President be above the law when it comes to more petty things? This is a tough one because in the strictest interpretation, my answer would be no. On the other hand, I think the bar should be set fairly high on what it takes to sue the President for defamation for saying mean things or just disagreeing with somebody. So should he/she be above the law, no.. should they be protected a little more than the average person from frivolous crap, yes.

TUMP BUDGET CUTSHere are some good articles on Trump's proposed budget cuts and the programs the administration has targeted. Notably, most cuts affect the poor, the elderly, the environment, education, and poor kids. Also attention grabbing is that these cuts are found to be necessary to help offset building the border wall and the increased military budget. SAD! 2018 Budget Proposal http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/16/politics/trump-budget-cuts/ 2017 Suggested Cuts to Offset Military funding and the Wall http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/29/politics/donald-trump-budget-cuts/ Just a few that disgust me: - 30% slash to Meals on Wheels and other Elderly Programs. - Discontinuing funding for school provided meals before/after school. - Cuts to HEAP, low income home energy assistance program - Cuts to low income home weatherization assistance program. - Cuts to The Arts, PBS, and Education. - Cuts to Global Warming Programs. - Cuts to clean energy research. - Cuts to multiple HUD programs. - Cuts to Human Services, Community Action Programs, and Senior Services. This list barely scratches everything we will lose to be able to drop more bombs on middle eastern communities and build a wall that will do nothing. And there are MANY MANY MANY Jobs being lost due to these cuts. Disgusting.

For the most part, everyone agrees the fed gov't. needs to cut spending.
But when proposed cuts are suggested, people jump out of the woodwork with "hell no, can't cut that. Or this."
It reminds me of school districts that want new taxes. The old "well, if we don't get them, we'll have (HAVE) to cut bussing, and sports, and music. So, if you don't vote to spend more for the school, you won't have any of those. Ha ha. But, we'll still keep salaries the same, and we won't cut the second assistant curriculum manager, or her secretary. And we sure won't cut the assistant to the assistant of the i.t. director, that reports to the 3rd associate principal." Etc.

Meals on wheels is really about local support. I know where I live it's funded by the hospital and private donations. No need for Feds. in this. All that other stuff like Art and global warming is all a farce anyway. Just another way to rip off the Gov. Assit. programs for heat...samething here. Local power companies take donations and help poor customers out. why do we need the Gov.?

I would assume you've sat in a cafeteria at a school. Have you seen the amount of food that gets thrown out??? I was amazed. Those that truly need the food generally eat it. Generally. (who eats stewed tomatoes?) Meals on wheels - the program is too big. Too many get it that don't need it. Truth. Plus, kinda like the fed. education thing.......the fed's don't fund but what, 10% of the actual education budgets for states? States fund the education....states, and local taxes.

Sorry, I should've clarified that I'm talking about the Title I school lunch program. I'm not too familiar with meals on wheels.
My students need the free lunch program. Lots of food gets made, but our students truly eat every single piece of food on their plates. Yes, that even means the canned fruit and canned veggies. They go up incase there's extra food. Rarely does waste ever happen.
Most kids across the nation in Title I schools need that program. Heck, even kids from impoverished homes in suburbia need that program. Same with kids in the rural areas, too.
I understand cuts, but to remove funding and then increase the defense budget for no reason? Something doesn't add up.

I have a hard time believing that claim. Not calling you out as a liar, but man, it is so polar opposite to my experiences in several schools.
I've seen a ton of students receiving free breakfasts and lunches. They get free after school tutoring because they failed the end of grade tests. They get fed a snack and dinner.
They throw food away all the time. It's unreal. They throw way more food away than I ever would.
They also have money to buy cookies and ice cream at lunch time.
They wear Jordans. They get their nails done weekly. They say things like "I used to have that IPad [in reference to mine] but I had to get the new one. Or, "is that an IPhone 6? I got the IPhone 6 Plus."
Dude, it's ridiculous at how many people take advantage of the system. And if you still wanna start the education thread, I got way more that is way worse..............such as the Homeless Act.

I have absolutely NO doubt some kids eat all the food they get.
And I have no doubt you've eaten in school cafeterias more than I have (as adults, that is).
My experience was "dang.....why do they even force each kid to take the food when the majority of it is just tossed into the trash?"
For me, that was when my daughter was in elementary school. I helped in her classroom 2-8 times a month, and ate at school probably 1-3 times a month.
Rich kids, poor kids......tossing food left and right.
I ate it, and it was good, all things considered.

Trump said he could shoot somebody and still get support. True....so he should have no problem getting all the support he needs after he reveals his income taxes.

So here is a question for are the boards great political minds:
If SCOTUS Nominee Gorsuch is confirmed after Mitch McConnell uses the 'nuclear option', changing the rules to only need 51 votes in the Senate, will that be a 'win' for the Trump Administration or a loss due to further separation of the political factions?
My guess is that Trump will of course claim the win, but it will hurt the administration going forward. I also think there is no chance Gorsuch will get confirmed without the nuclear option.

If Democrats continue to refuse to be part of the Government, the rest of Government must find a way to keep running.
If reason was at play, there would be no need for drastic measures.
Harry Reed taught us that.

Sounds as if they're determined to make this guy a 'one-term president.' Apparently, the last 8 years taught them well.

Like much of government, it will be a short term win with long term consequences.. because eventually a democrat will try to do the same thing and republicans will whine about it. On a different note, the fact that so many dems are opposed to a solid candidate like Gorsuch for no greater reason than they are butt-hurt over what happened to Obama is pathetic. I kind of hope they block Gorsuch, I really do.. Gorsuch is right leaning but far from hard right... and after they block him, I hope Trump comes back with somebody that is hardcore right...

Yeah I agree, it is crazy stupid to try and stop this appointment. The Dems on capitol hill are playing tit for tat politics. I've written to our senators to vote for Gorsuch. "Please stop playing politics with our future. We deserve a full compliment of SC Judges. Gorsuch will be replacing a conservative. Please help stop this never ending grid lock. Vote for Gorsuch now"

Yes, an American Soldier was killed in the Yemen raid.
BUT...
Many of you claimed his life was wasted in a useless raid and as it turns out, all this push to keep laptops and computers off of flights came from those documents we seized in that raid! We found out the Terrorists had developed ways to hide undetectable explosives inside laptops and computers.

A soldier died, a ton of dcivlians died, and the main target of the raid was turning up on social media talking mad trash about us after that failure. Just stop it already.

Who was talking about just him? There was an 8 year old American girl in that raid. The info has been extremely suspect at best.
