My most recent major concert was summer of 2013, saw Rush for the first time. Major tick off the bucket list, was with about 13,000 others - same venue I saw April Wine back in 1984 . They sold out the first night so fast they quickly added a second.

They didn't have an opening act - they don't need one wink -and what I found interesting was they played a 75-minute set, took a break for about 30 minutes and did another 75 or so.
Neal Peart did a drum solo in each set. The first one was your standard solo - which since its Peart it is pretty awesome - the second he used different percussion instruments, making various sounds (I have no idea what they were, but he turned a drum solo into a SONG. It's kinda hard to describe and I know I won't do it justice, but there seemed to be melodies coming from his percussion playing.
I can always say that I saw arguably the greatest drummer in pop/rock history live, and in person.

We have tickets to see Radiohead on April 9. I love them...seen them many times over the years in small venues before they got huge and in large venues. All in the UK. Haven't seen them since 2003 at Earl's Ct in London, however, this will be their first time in Portland since 1996. AND, more importantly, I think as a band they are like wine....they have just got better and better. I definitely think they are musical geniuses.

I felt like I won the lottery when we scored the tickets on the day they went on sale. My wife was on the computer, I was on the computer, friends of ours were on all trying to get tickets and it sold out in 5 minutes. But, of all of us I managed to get through and scored 3 tickets in a good section. They are also my son's favorite band so the three of us will go and can't wait!

On a side note...I freakin' hate these major concerts. Ticketmaster is a joke. The scalpers all have "bots" that scoop up these tickets and then re-sell on Vivid and StubHub. Another reason why I feel lucky to have got through. Totally takes the fun out of it. I remember days as a teen when we would camp out to get our tickets. Those were great fun, times and part of the experience.

They might have played this song but maybe they didn't.

Dude, probably because the weather is good and it is summer but, for whatever reason I am on an early April Wine and Montrose kick at the moment. I have been playing AW's early albums a lot (their 1st was released in 1971) as well as Montrose's 1st two w/Sammy Hagar. April Wine were a TOTALLY different band back then in terms of both sound and members. In fact, Only Myles G. was in the original band by the time they hit gold in the States. Also, their earlier albums are rock harder and are more consistently rock than the hard/soft radio-friendly ballad/arena rock they got popular in the States with.

And of course early Montrose kicks ass:

Just saw My Morning Jacket last weekend at Electric Forest. Have to say they impressed the hell out of me. Never really listened to them much. I was pretty taken back by their live performance. Powerful psychedelic rock with a little southern edge. They were tight as a band and really opened up some of the jams. Good good show.

First concert was Michael Stanley Band at EJ Thomas on Akron U Campus. First Stadium Concert was Ted Nugent and Starz at Richfield. Both were in 77.
Favorite was Ozzy Diary of a Madman tour a couple months before Randy Rhodes died. Randy was amazing.... I remember it was snowing like a mother that night. Blizzard conditions leaving Richfield.... still what an awesome show. Oh and Rush the 2112 tour. Man you walked into Richfield and it was like walking into a cloud bank smile I saw Rush many times back in the day and they always put on a great show.

Bad Motor Scooter and Rock Candy were bad ass back in the day!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think they are both still bad ass tunes, today. Their 1st album is easily in my top ten "Best 70s American hard rock album"s list. Thick and tasty riffs from Ronnie Montrose, driving rhythms and dumb songs about partying and girls delivered by a teenage Hagar. Dude, what more do you want or need from hard rock? smile
