Exploding Laptops

The February 2016 a bomb attack on a Somali airliner leaving Mogadishu made clear terrorist groups' continued determination to bring down passenger jets.

The al Qaeda affiliated Somali terrorist group al Shabaab smuggled a laptop bomb onto a plane by recruiting two airport workers who handed the device to one of the group's operatives. The device was "sophisticated" and passed through an X-ray machine at the airport, a source close to the investigation told CNN.

The suicide bomber was blown out of the aircraft when the laptop bomb detonated and the plane was able to make an emergency landing. Only the fact that the aircraft had not reached cruising altitude prevented a disaster.

The White House can claim it's some "new intel" if they wish. The fact is, it isn't.

The info from the Yemen Raid shows how, the mix of chemicals they have perfected, and how they are coordinating with other groups now. They say it is a treasure trove of information they got.
That is why they are banning them from planes today, not last year.

But if you are happy with what CNN tells you, then be happy.

It doesn't matter who said it. They had those sophisticated chemicals then and actually executed a laptop bomb. It happened over a year ago. Would you like an article from FOX saying the same thing? Reporting on what someone thinks or what someone believes can be very subjective thing depending on the source. I agree with you on that. But when factual news coming from actual, reported events comes in, the source really doesn't matter.

This was KNOWN information since at LEAST February of 2016. Now there may have been a lot of new information gathered in that raid. I really don't know. But laptop bombs wasn't one of them.

Here's where the focus should lie. All of this laptop information has been known for a year. It's nothing new and that's already been established.

But here's the kicker. The Obama administration knew about it and took no measures to stop laptops on flights from such nations.

Trumps administration is taking those actions.

You can buy into the crap they just found out about from the Yemen raid if you wish, but I've shown you that this was a sophisticated type operation since last March.

The Pentagon and the White House have maintained that the raid produced valuable intelligence.

So I choose to believe their crap over yours.

I'm not saying that it didn't produce valuable intelligence. I'm just saying that laptop bombs were not a part of that. I've shown you several instances that prove this was known over a year ago. It actually happened over a year ago. Yet you ignore that fact. So be it.

President Trump Mistakenly ‘Congratulates’ Wounded Soldier for Earning a Purple Heart

President Donald Trump congratulated an army sergeant for being wounded in Afghanistan during his visit to the Walter Reed Medical Center on Saturday. Except, of course, that it’s not appropriate to “congratulate” a recipient of this type of award for almost getting killed.

Sgt. 1st Class Alvaro Barrientos was wounded alongside three other soldiers last month after an Afghan soldier attacked them at a base in the Helmand province. Barrientos’ injuries required the amputation of his right leg below the knee.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump met with Barrientos and his wife at the hospital, and they had a small ceremony as Trump presented the sergeant with the Purple Heart. The medal is the longstanding award bestowed upon those wounded or killed in their service to the U.S. Military.

“I heard about this and I wanted to do it myself,” said Trump. “Congratulations on behalf of Melania, myself, and the entire nation. Tremendous job.”

While President Trump’s “heart” may have been in the right place, he is going to have to be a little more careful with his words next time. Or not.

I think the Putin bit was a step too far, you have to respect the office if not the man. I don't have anything good to say about Trump but I would not have gone there.

However, it is comedy and Colbert is very good at that. Calls for his head are too much imho, but people have lost their jobs for less. The rest of the monologue was pretty funny.
