40 I see what you meant about the same thread in two forums now. Didn't even know this forum had been created, must have missed that memo...
Looks like somebody deleted my thread about that airbase being up and running and the fact that the $60 million in missiles seem to have done very little damage. It almost feels like the REAL NEWS is getting filtered here on dawgtalkers sometimes.
I'm glad Trump struck Syria, but finding out it was a pin [censored] attack that didn't even keep them from launching planes the next day and then today he bombs that same village that was gassed... doesn't sound much like Trump's message had much weight to me.
I don't want to get bogged down in yet another Middle Eastern war and don't want to have WW3 with Russia/N.Korea either; yet we need to put our foot down a little harder, stand a little taller and remind a few countries and dictators that WE are the world's only superpower.
In my opinion, military action is more effective when it's not half assed. Seems we tie our own hands far too often and do too little too late. I'm not talking about Trump, I'm talking about every President since Reagan and some before.
I'm not sure what the answer is but I'm sure tip toeing around Russia, Syria, Iran, North Korea and China is not the right approach.

BOOM BABY! Message sent... To Russia- Assad is unacceptable as leader of Syria. To North Korea- We will act alone as necessary. Your actions may have consequences. To China- Don't push us too far with those islands and Japan. To our Allies- We are not afraid to act when needed, we have your backs. To the World- America and our new President: Cross at your own risk. Agree. The pansies are out of office and the Big Dog is back in charge. I got off my couch, sat in me chair, logged in and quoted that statement just to give it a big thumbs up!

So, i've said before that I generally stand with Trump on this.
However, I have to point out the double standards that are clearly obvious.
First, isn't it illegal to attack a nation without congressional approval if that nation poses no threat to the US?
speaking on that, second, didn't obama - attempting to do it the correct way - get denied by republicans for wanting to indeed strike Assad?
third, didn't Trump specifically say that we needed to stay out of Syria? his tweets and other rhetoric clearly isn't lining up with his actions.
I remember the board crying about obama wanting to attack Assad. now that Trump did it, all of a sudden you guys support it?
I simply do not get it. Also, there's reports that a good number of civilians died, including a woman with 6 of her kids. all gone.
when you stand up and say "children of god" should not be exposed to this....and then you end up killing said children of god, kinda sends a mixed message.

Did you ever think Trump wanted to make a statement about chemical weapons while not killing Russians and starting WWIII? Did it cross your mind that Trump wanted damage but didn't want to kill the runways so the Russians and Syrians could continue to fly missions from there, against ISIS? Stop trying to talk like a President when you obviously are not one!

Trump made a statement about the use of Chemical Weapons! They crossed the line with that.

I just posted in the Trump-Russia thread about all the questions this leaves me with. I felt as good as anybody seeing those missiles fly and though it was about time myself. Then after the damage reports and talking to a military/political minded friend of mine from high school who happened to graduate top of his class from West Point; it seems we both have a lot of questions and something seems off here.
Kudos to Trump for taking action. Now were there other motives at play here or is much of the timing coincidental? Trump sure needed something to happen when this happened, that's all I'm saying.

Hmmmm ...oBUMa used executive orders like 6 month olds go through diapers ... yet this time when he knew it would be denied he decided not to use one ...
Pretty convenient for those keeping score ....
If oBUMa would have taken his balls out of his uterus and done ANYTHING on 3 or 4 fronts ... we wouldn't be in this position ... as it is now ... everywhere u turn its a FIRE ... FIRE ... sad but true ...

The previous administration failed to to do anything about Assad. They never intended to. Obama was a total pansy on foreign affairs. But we will ignore the fact that Obama was turned down in 2013, by a Republican lead Congress, approval to attack Syria and Assad? Abd Obama launched many airstrikes in Syria, but they were at ISIS targets, not Syrian targets

Did it ever occur to you that the only reason he asked, is so that he would be turned down?
If he really wanted to take action, he could of.
Just like Trump did.

That explains why you cover your faces while protesting in the streets. No it doesn't and I really have no idea what you are trying to prove with that statement. The reason those people are covering their faces is to hide their identities. Some might say that is so the powers that be can't punish them, other might say it's to conceal the fact that they are right wing plants. Personally I don't care why they are doing it, I don't agree with the violent protests OR the violence against peaceful protests.

<------------ Congrats, you have spam commented you way to the top ole buddy! Even though I've been here years longer than you have, you somehow think that ranking system earns my respect? lol I spent a long time only posting in the pure football section. I was actually a member before 06 and something happened when the board changed. So even though my post count and rank is lower than yours my love for and loyalty to the board is much much much older. now kneel and admit you are not worthy.

They are having an election here in Georgia for a government seat. The repubs have been running ads showing liberal rioters destroying property and calling them "liberal extremists" and saying the democrat candidate is one of them.
Its kind of hilarious because the dems are digging themselves a big hole not condeming the rioters. They are getting labeled as extremists, and we all know who the other extremists are. They are in bad company.

So, the base we hit is already back operational. Syrian jets already launched from the base.
So I'm not sure anymore about what this strike accomplishment.
At first I supported it because you have to make a quick statement.
But if you don't really make an impact then...we'll what was the point?
And now with the civilians dead from the strike, this is starting to look less like a well sent message and more like an erratic, non thought out response.

It was to make a statement.
Attacking one airbase wasnt ever going to hurt them as they have numerous other airbases. If the intent was to destroy everything they would have sent in bombers. They cant do that without getting into an entanglement with russia.
I know you are smart and know these things.

the intention was to make a statement. i know that.
what i'm saying was the statement wasn't actually made the more the smoke clears.
already in the international media, they are holding trump's word of "Children of god" in correlation with the strikes killing civilians that include at least 6 children.
and with a base back in operation literally hours after a strike....well.
all i'm saying is that i sincerely hope this wasn't a strike just for show, and instead for an actual warning to Assad.

The whole children of god thing was kind of stupid to say. I thought it was very weird he said that. Unless he was trying to shame muslims who carried out the attack.
I think it was a warning, Russia clearly got offended about it.

Let's hope.
I stand with Trump with regards to striking Assad to send a message.
My concern is that since we've not only took action in the middle east, but also are on the verge of flexing our muscles against North Korea, that we didn't make things worse.

That is really some deep stuff their 3rd.
1- Beware of those who talk above your head while adding truth into the mix with their BS.
2- Conspiracy Theorists always seem to be able to tell you what happened in the past but never provide something that will happen next or in the future.
3- People can not keep a secret to save their lives yet here you have an worldwide secret plan to take over the planet. As soon as someone is slighted or passed over for a promotion, you would have your leak. 1.) You could say the same thing about the mainstream media, except for the 'talking over your head' part. 2.) That's just not true (see below). 3.) Well, there's leaks all over the Internet! I've read the New Testament three times now and am on my third reading of the Old Testament. I'm also a conspiracy theorist. In a nutshell, I believe the shadow government is a prelude to the NWO and the coming Antichrist. If your interested, go to youtube and do a search for Russ Dizdar vids (audio mostly). He's a local pastor, from Akron. He is the most knowledgeable person I know on the Bible and end time revelations. See now, I agree with some of what you say. I also know they are working on the NWO, they have admitted it. Bush one announced it. As a Christian, I believe there will be an Anti Christ and an end to this world. I am sure there are leaks all over the internet but there are also a lot of nuts all over the internet. Very easy to be mislead. Tread carefully. One final thing to ask you... If the end comes and Christ returns to slay Satan and mankind is caught up in the upheaval, what you gonna do about it there puny human? You are along for that ride, try not to get any on you. Nothing you think say or do is gonna effect that war in the least. May as well sit back and watch it unfold. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) most of us won't be here anymore by then. The Antichrist's reign is for 7 years. The "opening of the seals" (in Revelation, in the Bible), will start right before he comes into power, I **think.** Billions will die, but a few billion will live too. I think altogether 2/3rds of the earth's population dies by the time all the seals are open? ...Or it might be a bit less? It's something like that. So I'm thinking I won't be around by then. Highly doubtful. There is also the Christian believe of the Rapture, that we will be taken up from the earth before all the s--- goes down. I don't know if this is the correct interpretation of this or not, so I'm on the fence about that. I've had IBS every day for about the past 5 years or so. It's about as close to incurable as it can get. It runs in my family. It makes me exhausted the first few hours of every day; it wears me out. It's a pain in the ass (no pun intended). Point being, I'm ready to go. I've had enough. 'I don't fear death I welcome it.'

LOL! So Trump bombs Syria and does very little damage but his move reinvigorates the alt-right on the board and they think they have all the cards now. A couple of them have been chest thumping like the missing link and for a second I couldn't figure out how they regained their confidence after being all but silent for the last few weeks.
Then this morning it dawned on me that they think in a cyclical fashion that is directly tied to the last sensory input to stimulate their minds. LOL, they are in "America is #1" mode after being shown videos of the tomahawks being launched at night and pics of a carrier group at sea representing a threat to North Korea.
Forget the fact that we are slowly creeping toward another very costly war in two more countries, at least Trump's obvious connections to Russia and his insane failure rate in his first 70 days are no longer front and center in ALL media outlets. Fox and Friends get a few days to report something positive from the alt-right point of view, so now it's an all new world... kind of like gold fish circling the bowl and seeing everything as new on every pass.
Well here is a little reality check for y'all. These moves did not stop the FBI, CIA, Senate and House of Representatives investigations; the same investigations that have every appearance of being very bad for Trump and Company. You have the same brainiac that has messed up 68 out of his first 70 days like clock work still sitting in the POTUS chair; do you really think he is suddenly a new man? lol
Now as for the bombing, there are questions of legality concerning that... But I think these will go away fast because most approve of the action due to underlying circumstances.
At the end of the day, this was/is a temporary distraction from the fact that we have an idiot running the country and possibly traitors in the administration. Let's see what happens this week, lol.

Myself, rather than say it was a temporary distraction, like Clinton bombing an aspirin factory, I would posit that it was a measured response to a country gassing its own citizens.
And depending what news article you read, you'll find whatever agenda you want, ranging from "great move" to "dumb move".
'member when Bush said the chemical weapons were moved to Syria? Hmmmm
'member hillary and the dem's saying Syria didn't have any chemical weapons? Hmmmm
Did you hear about most of congress approving these strikes? Hmmmm
