KC needs help at the RB position. So, with the 132nd pick....

The Kansas City Chiefs select:

Marlon Mack, RB, South Florida.

This fella should fit in perfectly. Glad he was still available.

I feel like Eddie Jackson to the Patriots in the fourth round is just about as Patriots as you can get.

Will take it unless someone without a team wants the pack.

Was in the middle of my pick and comp locked up, had to reboot. I tried to put a little message in, that apparently worked said something like 'pick coming soon'. Pit picked while I was doing so. Their pick and mine did not conflict.

Drafted board all updated.

Hey guys, predator and I agreed to a trade last night if his guy was still on the board. I PMd him to ask if he's still available but if he's gone I have my pick ready.

With the 138th pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft,

The Miami Dolphins select Blair Brown, Linebacker, Ohio

While it was EXTREMELY difficult to pass on another player, the biggest hole on the Dolphins roster is a third linebacker, and Brown is one of the best in the class. He sheds blockers as well as any 'backer in the draft and first stood out to me when I was watching cut ups of Basham. This guy always gets to the ball. With adding Timmons, Jenkins, and Brown on defense this offseason, Miami should suddenly have a swarming back seven. Additionally, Brown rated as the top SPARQ athlete for off-ball linebackers at the combine. Pro Football Focus rates him as the second best middle linebacker in the draft behind Reuben Foster and scored him with an incredible tackling efficiency. The Dolphins will start him as a strong side backer, where he may have an adjustment period covering tight ends, but he's got the athleticism and size to succeed.

We're getting close to 145, time to start nominating players? If so, some to consider from a BPA perspective (CBS and/or NFL.com ratings)

Justin Evans, S
John Johnson, S
Chad Hansen, WR
Taywan Taylor, WR
Anthony Walker Jr., ILB
Tyler Orlosky, C
Isaiah Ford, WR
Ryan Glasgow, DT
Davon Godchaux, DT
Wayne Gallman, RB
Carroll Phillips, OLB
Nazair Jones, DT
Noah Brown, WR

Others to consider IMHO:
Michael Roberts, TE
Shaquill Griffin, CB
Delano Hill, FS
Corn Elder, CB

My pick would either be Evans (BPA, and need if he can play FS/slot CB) or Griffin (little bit of a reach, but a guy that I think will go earlier than his rankings), or any other defensive player.

Cards Noah Brown, it was a last second, literaly last second, I was all set to take the fullback out of VT, but he just doesn't have the potential upside,

I think if there is even a smidgen of a chance he can be a dynamic pass catching runninback out of the backfield, that that potential upside is too much to pass up at this point.

I really look back at what Philadelphia was able to do with Rb's changing the game with receptions in past years, that's the "style" of player I want, and they don't come by the dozen every year, it's tuff to find.
fingerscrossed.

I'm very happy we got nate gerry. I feel he'll likely be selected in the 3rd so at this point he's a steal. I think he's one of those prospects that get selected early and the fans have to look him up but man idk I just have this gut feeling. Not to be cocky but my gut hasn't been wrong yet (I'm under 30). At the same time though the fact that my nomination led to a pick should signal that this is done. And thats ok. I really don't think we should go past the 3rd anyway.

I didn't take Nate just because you suggested it. I just thought he would be chosen before the others I had in mind would be. I'm also not sure he'll be drafted so early. While his metric grades are good, his athleticism and sparq score have a lot to be desired. We have a little more than 100 picks to go, we might as well see it through.

I agree with you both. I mostly just didn't want to waste your time and effort. I mean I've been very committed but even I missed my own 3rd pick and it completely ruined my board. I just wanted to offer you two an out. By all means...and yeah I do agree on nate. I'm a highly analytics based poster and while he does grade well overall his sparq is eh. But he does remind me of weddle. Not because he's a white safety as most will assume but I do think he can play and he's a very safe pick. After the 3rd you look for safety in your selections imo and I think he would be a steal as high as our 1st 4th rounder

I'd like to finish it and then what would be cool is to list all 32 teams and their picks.

I have had fun really thinking about the Chiefs, their needs, my priorities and the guys available. A few on my board have been taken before I picked, which has made me go back to the drawing board and research. But, its been fun.

I just wish I'd had that extra pick lol. I would've taken gerry for the bills and honestly I really don't know any prospects after him.

I don't know the prospects this later either I have been doing a lot of reading and research and then I target three guys in 2 or 3 different positions/needs and hope my #1 in a priority position is there when it comes time for me to draft. If not, I have 2 others or I move laterally to another needed position.

I too am not a scout or a GM...I'm just doing this as a fan for fun. smile

I'd like to keep going and finish it. I think we can easily and it is fun to just see if any of us got any picks correct with the actual draft and the teams, not to mention who gets drafted or doesn't.

We could also make a way to grade our drafts based on where/if they actually get drafted.

Indeed. I had to do a "deep dive" on both the Bears and Bucs rosters and studying the 3rd day draft-eligible players, I am much more appreciative of the depth of quality players available...

With the 149th pick in the 2017 Dawgtalkers Mock Draft,

The Los Angeles Rams select John Johnson, Safety, Boston College

The Rams have a huge hole at the safety position and not many picks in the early stages of this draft. Fortunately for them, this draft is exceptionally deep at safety. Johnson shows ability in zone but also man, and is a solid tackler. He's not an elite athlete at the position, which is why he's lasted this long, but his instincts are very good. He always seems to find the ball for BC, and he will get a shot to compete at the safety position opposite Maurice Alexander.

Nooooooo !! I was gonna trade up and I thought. Nahhhhh. He'll be there for me. flamingmad

Yep. That's the danger of using online rankings. You see three guys left at the position before your guy then he's gone the next pick.

Well I do use online reviews and scouting reports for all but the 1st round potential picks - but that wasn't the reason. I was on my phone and too lazy to type. I got as far as needing to look at a draft value board for the trade proposal and I was like. . . screw it! smile

Not sure whether you are saying Elder is a good pick or not? On a Eagles team with a questionable CB's I think it's good pick up.

I've seen Elder to CLE quite often other places

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I love Corn Elder. I was saying I almost passed on Brown at 138 for him. I also considered taking Jenkins at 109 so I could take Elder at 120 and Brown at 128, but Vincent Taylor was just too good to pass up.

I'd like a BPA too. Just makes it easier to see who hasn't been picked.
