As a Christian, I believe that God made this planet.. and as such, it's my responsibility to take good care of it. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth... later on he created Adam in the Garden of Eden to care for the land.. even later still it says that a righteous man cares for the needs of his animals..

I don't care if you believe in all of the science surrounding global warming or climate change.. I still believe that God is sick of watching people making excuses for corporations to destroy HIS planet to chase the dollar... I mean think about that for a second, if you are a Christian... polluting God's planet to chase greed... as my 13 year old would say, that's just wrong on so many levels.

I know that for many, they worship the planet as if it is the god, rather than a creation of God.. and that's fine, that's up to them. But there are a ton of small things everybody can do to move in the right direction every day while we continue to tackle the bigger problems of energy creation and distribution at the higher levels, transportation, lesser developed countries, etc...

Over the last few years, I've traded in a 13 MPG vehicle for a 30 MPG vehicle and can't wait for electric cars to become more practical, gone paperless at work, changed my t-stat settings, started refilling water bottles instead of opening new ones, bought a solar phone charger and a solar generator, and a few other things.. nothing major....

This is just my opinion (well, mine and Billy Graham's if that matters).. Christians should be leading the charge to care for the planet, not be the ones dragged kicking and screaming into it against their will....

Everyone seems to agree we need to take care of our Planet.

If everyone agreed on that, why is it so hard to get people on board to do some simple, common sense, things that would immediately reduce pollution without really affecting industry or our daily lives?

This pretty much sums it up for me . Science and God are not mutually exclusive. It just feels to me like people dont want to be bothered so they use denial as a reason not to do things, and yeah as we develop and learn more those things will change. So we should be doihg the best we can right now and keep getting better. Thats what God would want out of us.

What do you think about the talk that oil may be actually a renewable resource? They have went back to dried up oil wells and found them with oil again.

I kind of think it may be , but we use it at too high of a rate for it to renew fast enough

What the heck you think we have been doing? All my life!

When I was a kid we drank radioactive milk from all the above ground nuke tests out west blowing east.

The Boro trucks came around spraying DDT while we kept our doors and windows closed that night.

Birds had crossed bill syndrome and I never saw a hawk or eagle till I was in my 40's.

You couldn't see the cities in summer due to smog.

The streets and highways were strewn with trash.

You think we been sitting around with our fingers in our noses or what?

The real problem isn't that oil is limited, but it's damaging on combustion. I think oil being limited, played a major role in the narrative for green "unlimited" energy and helped it grow in the past 20 years. Peak oil has always been a wildly debated thing, but I'm not sure it even matters. Personally, I think we'll always have more oil than means to use. However, will that oil damage the planet much worse? How much further can our climate go before we see a major pushback? Europe is already becoming a bottle neck of migration from climate change. Europe is a small continent, and it's a pretty dense place as is. How much tighter can we make it there before we see mass death? How many buffer zones does the US have? We are already losing Louisiana to rising water levels, what about our other states? What about places that are more populous than the Louisiana wetlands?

WTH does that have to do with anything we are talking about?

We are not talking about floods, we are talking about rising sea levels that could displace millions and millions of people. Not sone flood that goes away in a week.

Thats where I dont get why there is a debate between two sides. You have seen how much things have improved . So why are we not wanting to continue to improve?

The Ozone hole is a good example. We can debate whether they were the cause but because of research, we figured out that CFCs are harmful. So we developed less harmful alternatives. We figured out lead in paint and fuel is poisonous, we developed less harmful alternatives. Its and ongoing thing. It doesnt just stop.

Of course it does, but a flood plain is a flood plain and always will be a flood plain, unless there is some kind of geological shift.

We are talking about places that are not flood plains possibly being underwater.

Sometime look into just how harmful CFS really were and who made all the Billions of Dollars when Congress and the EPA voted to switch to the new stuff. Therein lies the truth about that one.

Today the environmentalists are giving us the choice of killing thousands of Eagles, Hawks and other Birds with windmills and solar stations in the name of saving some oil. I don't like that trade off.

They want us to spend our National Treasure to prevent man caused global warming and the science on that is fixed!

Things just aren't quite as cut and dry as they once were when it comes to actually improving the environment.

We do have electric cars and trucks coming up however and they are good, so far.

Well that's the thing bro: people are and don't even realize it.

That's why I hate when some people try to make this claim that if you aren't turning on the ac or something stupid like that, you aren't doing your part.

The cars with mpg is a great example that I will take it further.

Think about the emissions standards from the 70's until now. It's almost night and day. And the common argument was that having stricter standards was gonna cost companies money.

.......except people continue buying cars, suvs and trucks.

As a matter of fact, the small compact cars are once again losing ground to trucks and suvs in this country. And a big factor is the fuel tech and mpg standards these trucks and suvs are producing now.

So just by buying a new or newer vehicle, we as Americans are helping the environment, as the government's emission and fuel standards, COMBINED with consumer demand to have more efficient vehicles, has led to certain vehicles go from straight up gas guzzlers to "damn, this is pretty good mileage for a truck!!" And it's leaving less of a carbon footprint.

If people want to deny climate change, fine. But what pisses me off is how people can't even acknowledge skyline photos of places.

Look at the skyline photo of a place like LA from the 70's compared to now. Almost couldn't even see LA due to all the smog, and now you can get pretty good shots.

Or if you want a current example, go look at cities in China, were people have to walk around in mask in order to breath in the air, or how their weather stations actually have advisements on when to go outside or not due to the likelihood of acid rain.

Acid freaking rain bro. They have to actively look out for that on a daily basis. But if companies had their way...in sorry, "less restrictions that hurt their profits", we'd STILL look like that as a nation today.

What's so bad about asking citizens to not throw their trash on the ground? What's so bad about demanding corporations to clean up the plastic dumped in the oceans?

The reality is that it doesn't take a whole lot to just live in a clean environment. But the moment people ask for others to clean up the streets and not uselessly pollute the environment, dumbass straw man arguments like AC gets thrown around.

It's infuriating.

I know what you are saying, but we are not talking about flooding. We are talking about areas being underwater permanently.

I guess it was just hard for me to fathom someone saying they dont care if millions of people are misplaced because where they used to live is underwater. I know actually caring about someone besides yourself is not the Republcan way.

It's OK. She'll care about climate change once Atlanta has another heat wave and she complains about it on here. Same way she hated health care restrictions, besides the pre-existing condition (the biggest restriction on insurance companies). Eve has a problem seeing past her own nose sometimes.

Sorry I don't like dealing with pre-existing conditions. They're usually very messy and often spiral out of control within a decade, mainly due to their own volition.

Is this how liberals deflect when they get called out on their made up BS?

Im still waiting to hear how the Louisiana wetlands arent floodplains.

Oh and more liberal BS about how I should feel sorry for people who choose to build their house in a swamp.
