fwiw, I think Crowell will be great in another year or two. If he can stop tripping over himself, he can take many of those runs to the house. I also think Alvin Kamara is Montario Hardesty 2.0
I'm just calling it.

I don't think anyone is in a hurry to dump Crow. We are just saying if he won't sign that he is not irreplaceable.

Financial .. Like not showing up for the first Camp ? He is not under contract, so until he signs the tender or gets an extension there are no penalties.

So what makes him show up this year ? Without the Tender , everything is in limbo land ? Nothing. Eventually he will just sign the tender, but he is probably using his absence from OTAs to show his displeasure with not getting a deal. No big deal.

It is a big deal...common sense we would now have to draft a RB and Crow painted himself in a corner. Cause if we have to you a 12-65 pick for RB then that guy more than likely is starting.
RB is the fastest transition to the NFL from College. Its 90% instincts. That is why Rookie RBs do well all over the NFL. This is the time that we would have to know if he is with us. I wonder what our offer has been nobody has leaked it out I guess.
But not to sign the Tender by the draft is pretty insulting and maybe bridge burning I think?
I'm still baffled by this as in what happens if he doesn't agree to a contract and does not sign the Tender...what he sits out 2017?

Even if he did sit out a year, wouldn't we still have him under RFA rights since he wouldn't accrue a season? Not that there's a snowball's chance in hell that he doesn't sign his tender.

To me, he's a holdout when he starts missing mandatory meetings. Also, I am not sure you can be a holdout if you are not under contract. I understand, but he hasn't signed, making him a holdout.

I don't think anyone is in a hurry to dump Crow. We are just saying if he won't sign that he is not irreplaceable. How many players in the NFL are truly irreplaceable? I think about the last time we had a dominant run game. Was it with West? Was it with McGahee? Was it with Richardson? Was it with Hillis? Was it with Harrison? Was it with Lewis? Yep, I think that it was probably Lewis. Crow has power, along with break-away ability. He can catch the ball. He can block. On a bad team, with issues everywhere on offense, and no real commitment to the run game, he still ran for almost 1000 yards and 4.8 yards/carry. Irreplaceable? No. Darn good, with potential to be even better? You bet.

He runs with so much power. If we stay with Brock, I'm hoping he can push the ball downfield enough that we can run with Crow in the shotgun. That's a dangerous weapon.

I agree with you and Kash... if someone actually wants to hand us a 2nd rounder, I'll help him pack his bags. He's far from irreplaceable. I'm also operating under the assumption that his contract demands are somewhat reasonable.
But I like him. We can (and have) do a lot worse at the position. I don't think Hue's system would allow for just any warm body to run for 1000 yards, but I do think upgrading our running game from whatever it was Pettine was trying to do was at least partially responsible for Crow improving this past year.
Your point about him showing in his contract year is definitely fair. There are tons and tons of examples where this was the case. I'm just not so sure that our situation with Crow is as cut and dry. He seems to show good ability when he's operation within non-pop warner offenses. He's always run hard since back when he joined the team as a UDFA.
... and oob or noob is fine. I've been called worse. :-p

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Crowell has until June 15th to sign his tender offer. After that Cleveland can reduce the offer to 110% of the players' 2016 salary. He is currently 1 of 9 players who have still not signed their tender as of April 23rd.
Unsigned
Second-round tender ($2.746MM):
Isaiah Crowell, RB (Browns) Dontrelle Inman, WR (Chargers)
Brandon McManus, K (Broncos)
Original round / right of first refusal tender ($1.797MM):
William Compton, LB (Redskins) Dominique Easley, DT (Rams) Jacquies Smith, DE (Buccaneers) Terrance West, RB (Ravens) Damien Williams, RB (Dolphins) Albert Wilson, WR (Chiefs)
The list is from Pro Football Rumors.

I'm confused how Terrance West is a RFA. Didn't he get a four year contract after being drafted? *edit* yes. yes he did. *2nd edit* oh, I see he got a new contract after being waived unclaimed by Tennessee... thought Baltimore had claimed him.

Thank you Dawg 66...so really no big Ado about him not signing his tender. Good, I like him and I didn't wish Us to have to utilize an early pick on a RB.

Browns starting running back Isaiah Crowell signs second-round tender Browns starting running back Isaiah Crowell signed the second-round restricted free agent tender the franchise placed on him in February, his representation at University Sports & Entertainment Management announced Wednesday night on Twitter. So Crowell is scheduled to play the 2017 season on a one-year contract worth $2.746 million and become an unrestricted free agent in March. The Browns, in the meantime, would like to sign him to a contract extension. Crowell had been skipping the team's voluntary offseason workout program that began April 17, but the Browns didn't seem worried about his contract situation. "Isaiah will come in and sign his tender at the time he deems fit," head of football operations Sashi Brown said April 29. Late last season, coach Hue Jackson called Crowell "a key to our future." Crowell, 24, joined the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He started every game last season and rushed 198 times for a career-high 952 yards (4.8 average) and seven touchdowns. He also caught 40 passes for 319 yards. http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland-brow...tender-1.766173

Browns starting running back Isaiah Crowell signs second-round tender Tender signed, before training camp & OTA's, merely missed some voluntary workouts. No big deal at all. It's a contract year, so I expect Crowell to come in in good shape and with a fire in him.

It was clearly the best, and almost one could argue, only decision for him to make that was wise.
Plus he's got the interior linemen and etc now to bang up the gut and etc. His style of run. One cut and fly.
Earn yourself a better contract Crow! Don't be an idiot off the field anymore either, which I don't think you will.

Glad he's back in the stable. The FO seemed to be patient, didn't panic and handled everything well from every indication.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
