So some are saying nothing happened, but the girl got upset when she was kicked out of the room, so she called the cops and fabricated a story.

Can't wait until the police release the info regarding the rape kit results. More and more, it does indeed sound sketchy. Very sketchy.

Rapoport: Gareon Conley will not attend 2017 NFL Draft


NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Tuesday afternoon that Conley has decided to not go to Philadelphia for the draft. He was one of 22 prospects invited. Conley was considered a likely first-round pick, but it’s unclear how the accusation could affect his draft status with teams.

TMZ, citing a police report, said Conley was accused of rape and he has strongly denied the accusation. No charges have been filed. Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, posting on the CBS Cleveland website, confirmed that Conley was named in a police report. Sergeant Jennifer Ciaccia, public information officer for the Cleveland division of police, told Ruiter that no warrant has been issued, no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the story from TMZ, which said it obtained a police report filed in Cleveland, Conley and a woman were in his hotel room on April 9. After going back to Conley’s room, he asked her to engage in group sex with another couple. A short time after she declined, the woman said Conley unbuttoned her pants and began to have sex with her. The TMZ story said Conley did not stop, according to the accuser.

Cleveland 19 did not name the player accused of sexual assault, but the player’s attorney Kevin Spellacy denied any wrongdoing, saying the accusation is “ludicrous and ridiculous.”

“In my opinion this young lady is an opportunist and it’s actually despicable,” Spellacy said, according to Cleveland 19.

Spellacy also talked to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, which didn’t name Conley but also shared details of the police report.

“There was no sexual assault,” Spellacy said. “We’ve cooperated fully with the police. I actually reached out to them before they even asked us.”

Collins, who was never charged, fell completely out of the draft. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys.

The MMQB’s Albert Breer said NFL teams are already trying to gather more information.

It's official! We have one scandal. A draft week scandal, comeing out between midnight Sunday night and the Thursday 1st round, just like every year.
My question is will this be the big one, or will another scandal break, for what will end up being a solid player who's """ draft stock""" will fall dramatically just before picking time.

I almost advocate the Browns saving one of their picks for whomever the scandal would be about, because they all end up being solid, at least that's the pattern so far.

It certainly minimizes the Peppers' diluted sample "scandal" that was brought up a couple days ago.

Why would Conley get an attorney and have the attorney pro-actively reach out to the police? I can think of 2 reasons - (a) something happened that made him think she'd go to the police
(b) she got booted out of the room and she threatened him with the accusation

If (b) were the case, I'd think that the attorney would have said something. There's got to be an option (c), I just can't think of it.

In my mind, "something happened" and "he raped her" are not the same thing. But if that's what you meant, that's what you meant.

I used "something happened" just to include rape and other things such as
+ they had consensual sex and she regretted it
+ they had consensual sex and she's just out for money
+ he groped her (sexual assault)

and whatever other situations there could have been

Truly that's it. Even had she agreed to have sex, it's her entitlement to back out of the situation if she doesn't feel comfortable with it. Bottom line.

I'm leaning towards a girl trying to stir up trouble for someone over an argument or something that didn't involve being raped. There's not been much said other than what we already know.

If he drops and it ends up being nothing because of it, you just have to feel sorry for the kid. However, if he violated the situation like she's saying, then I hope he doesn't get a chance to play the greatest sport at the highest level. He doesn't deserve that.

Am I a bad person for hoping that as the 3rd round open, with the Browns poised to make pick #1 of the 3rd round, that word comes out that the girl admitted to making the whole thing up?

I do hope that he is punished if he did, indeed, rape her, and I hope that she is if she has lied about this.

What is crazy is any of these young men eligible for the draft doing anything at ALL this week. Did no one learn anything from last years draft? GAS MASK!
One screw up and it costs a player millions. Perhaps much more. Some teams have probably crossed Conely off their board altogether... He put himself in a position where he either raped a woman or he could be falsely accused of doing so.... it doesn't get any dumber than that.

The alleged incident with Conley happened a few weeks ago. The video of Tunsil got leaked because a scorned financial advisor had access to Tunsil's social media accounts.

Honestly I think she is just lying and it's a set up. I mean it's just too coincidental. Then again if it's half true a kid this stupid right before the draft has huge mental red flags to me. I've had enough with talented kids who just don't know how to act because they were raised up so poorly.

If it turns out to be a false charge I would risk a 5th to 6th on him but honestly i'd rather we just pass on him.

I've argued with my wife saying those numbers might be different for the famous. But why would modern women have a lower opinion of yours vs any other?
