thanks Nineradvocate ... you seem to be a great fan and supporter. I enjoy reading those intimate reports and write ups. I root for stories like this.
Had I heard of him? Maybe just vaguely. But after reading your post, I'm excited to watch him get this chance. It seems like he's gonna be a good fit.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Thanks for posting and welcome.
Gotta say... I hate this pick. Wormley? Montravious Adams? Why Ogunjobi? The only thing I have to go off of is the Louisville game and he looks like he doesn't even belong in the NFL in that game, let alone pick 65. Good luck to him but I'm not seeing it. Put on Xavier Cooper's college tape and which guy would you draft?

Never mind Dawgs what the man behind the curtain says about this kid.
I realy like the pick.
Cooper is going to have a fight on his hands now for that 4th DT in the rotation/roster.

I am not arguing w/other posters any more. I will state my opinion and leave it at that. FYI if you go to Bruglers Twitter, it says he likes the pick. He's the one who wrote the summary for the link you posted. Struggling with terrible internet and an iPad so no link "Cleveland continues to draft players I really like. Ogunjobi is a one-gap, penetrating three-technique. My No. 56 overall player at No. 65." (Second time I've posted this)

Browns DT Larry Ogunjobi: No. 2 SPARQ DL @ Combine School records in everything @ Charlotte 36 Wonderlic Nation's No. 4 Run D grade via PFFs If I had to bet my next paycheck, I'd bet Larry will be starting as a 3 technique for the Browns by opening day of 2018 season. Yes I would. Having him and Myles Garrett on the same line isn't fair. (I say that having been raised a Steelers fan). I'll leave you guys at that.

Not a ton. I know he is inconsistent as hell. I think he is a hard worker, but is weak in the upper body and was handled by guards that got into his body........and most of those guards were not from good college teams.
Not sure why we are not addressing the secondary. I really thought we might get at least 3-5 DBs in this draft. Yeah, I thought we would have taken last years WR approach at this years DB's... thinking 2 safeties and 2 CBs maybe. I like our guy Boddy-Calhoun just as much as the next Dawg, but I'm not sure I'm ready to pencil him in as the #2 CB just yet. We'll see!

Welcome to the board Niner and thank you for that write up on Larry. I knew nothing about him but now feel better about the pick. Welcome to the Browns Larry and all the best to you. You're one of us now and we'll all be rooting hard for you and all our other picks.

I think that sometimes interior DL can be real hidden gems. Hopefully Ogunjobi will be one such player.
I do think that the Browns like picking players whose names absolutely destroys announcers. lol

I don't know much about the player, but you have to love moments like this: https://twitter.com/HelloJonMoore/status/858170354711310336Ogunjobi's parents are Nigerian immigrants and their son is now in the NFL making a bunch of money. Very cool.

Draftek had Larry rated #72, CBS had him #61. I don't know anything about him but I suspect the Senior Bowl had an influence here. If he can provide that inside rush alongside Shelton and become an effective 3T, all good. From walterfootball:
Ogunjobi turned in four seasons of solid production for Charlotte, including his senior year, when he notched 65 tackles with 13.5 tackles for a loss, three sacks and two passes broken up. Ogunjobi had 62 tackles with 2.5 sacks as a junior and five sacks as a sophomore. He put together a good week of practice at the Senior Bowl.
Fills a need, although I thought Cooper may actually be the 3T as he was miscast as a 5T in the 3-4.

I have nothing really to base this on other than people's reactions - the guy he is making me think of is Athyba Rubin when we drafted him.
I remember going to camp one summer and watching Rubin practice hand-fighting with Ted Washington - I immediately thought "this guy is gonna be good for us".
If Ogun works half as hard as Rubin did, we should be alright.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

At least with Ogunjobi on the field, the streets will be safer. But opposing offenses won't.

I see he benched 26 reps. That doesn't seem to be lacking all that power, but I understand bench strenght and playing strength aren't exactly the same thing. We coached him in the senior bowl. Something about the kid caught our eye. Sounds like a MD Perry type player. Shoot a gap with his speed and play in the backfield all day. Just looking at "grades", everybody seems to think this is a good pick. It's not like we chose a guy who was bound for the 7th round.

Having Williams at the Sr. Bowl coaching this guy has to be a big reason he's here now. Williams knows best what we need for his D. This draft so far has really improved 2 huge areas of need. Pass Rush and Run D. Having passed on Hooker and losing out on Baker and Williams with the move up from 33, I'm wondering if we're really high on Powell. Greg Williams is a Happy [censored] this morning. That's for sure. Excellent work Front Office and Draft Room.

And people who took that quote literally/seriously are not brilliant.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

We did not coach him at the senior bowl, as he played for the other side, but we did get a good look at him.

Truly rather have taken a DB. Maybe this was a BPA at a need pick. Des Bryant was injured all last year, he's 31 and things were left on a sour note, if I remember correctly. They were negotiating his release or something. That leaves like Meder, Cooper, and some other names to man the DT position. Larry will get significant playing time IMO. I'm hoping today that we come away with two corners and a safety

Truly rather have taken a DB. Yes, we will probably draft a few in the 4th,5th, and 6th round. They can sit on the bench or practice squad with all those receivers we drafted last year.

j/c...some of you amaze me.
Just cause you don't know who a player is some of you automatically feel he cannot be good cause after all you don't have a clue about him.
Guy is 300+ lbs and has good explosion looks like a good kid to coach up and utilize in our ATTACK Defense. Has a good motor and able to cover ground for a DLman. He should learn from Bryant...lol last time I said that we then released Barnidge... I do see him as an Upgrade on Cooper. Just another kid who could become great in 2-3 years. Of course he could become very average too.
We just got faster on the D which is a good thing...plenty of CBs still out there and we could package some #5's to move up into the 4th round.

What did you guys see when you watched the video vs Louisville? Because I didn't see him make many plays. 2-3 QB hurries (no sacks) and a couple run stops at the LOS. I know he was double-teamed a lot and his team was badly overmatched, but still, not much impact. Am I missing something, or was that the point of posting the video?
