I love this pick...worth the gamble that late...mostly mocked as a mid round 2nd...if he's innocent this is a huge steal...hes more of a rotation guy than starter as he never played a ton of snaps...but a good pick up...

For what it is worth, her witnesses are her roommate and her roommate's friend and his witnesses are the nightclub owner and security guard. His lawyer already turned down a settlement offer and volunteered that there is video tape of the altercation.

Good value pick. I hope it pans out to be the steal of the draft.

Before this, I was hearing he could go to Raiders at 24. he had some really strong workouts and interviews probably better than the tape on him.

I heard the opposite about workouts and interviews.

Hopefully Williams puts a boot in his behind.

MKC reporting that Florida HC warned NFL coaches not to pick him up. Seems like an odd signing for this FO and Hue. I doubt we keep him.

NOT happy about this pick. We pass on the first round RB that drops because he was a scumbag woman beater and we draft this guy? A scumbag woman beater... Here's hoping he is a camp casualty and we never hear his name again.

What the hell is a young man getting ready for the NFL doing at a nightclub? There BETTER be video exonerating him. I hate guys that rough up women. I hope the kid doesn't bother showing up.... HATE the thought of a woman beater on the Browns.

I don't like Brantley the player. I watched him dogging it at the Combine and it verified what I always thought about him. Tons of talent. Lazy ass!

However, we probably should not convict him of a crime yet. I have no idea if he is guilty or not. Better to wait on the facts before we cut him due to an accusation.

I can agree with that but I really can't understand why we took the chance with so many other kids available. If and when it is proven he did this we should cut him that very second! I still wonder what the hell he was doing out at a nightclub when the most important thing in his life looms on the horizon. NOT SMART.

So why draft him in the first place? For once I really liked out draft for the most part. I wanted higher in the draft but overall we got better and that is refreshing. This one though has me scratching my head. When his coach tells everyone to avoid him like the plague you should probably listen.....

I agree with your sentiment if the accusation turns out to be true.

They took him, I would guess, because they felt that he might be worthwhile, if he was not guilty of what he was accused of.

For all of the stuff people are saying about him, the scouting reports are pretty sterling, saying that he might be a 1st round talent.

KI really don't have a good idea on him, but if he could be a potential 1st or 2nd round talent, than he's probably worth risking a 6 on. If he is guilty of what he's accused of, then dump him.

I can't recall ever really focusing on him, but we'll see what happens.

Not sure how much y'all follow football and especially college football, but questions about Brantley's character were around long before this latest allegation.

I think they felt it was a calculated risk worth taking. They are too smart to make the decision in a complete vacuum. I do believe he is a player with early round talent who will have to be coached hard. If all of the accusations are resolved favorably he'll have to be able to accept the accountability that will be demanded of him by the coaches. I expect Williams will not tolerate Brantley loafing.

I think it's important to point out that nowhere did the tweet say it was the HC, I don't know where PDX got that unless there's some other info out there. Hell, it didn't even say it was a football coach. It just says, "a coach at school...."

Fair enough jfanent....it doesn't specify it was the HC at FLA. However, it does say say "a coach". I have no idea if MKC is reporting sourced info or just rumors but, she is more in the loop/know than most of us simply because of her contacts. So, it is something that is concerning...MAINLY because of how Sashi and Hue have said they were going to attack this since the downfall of Manziel, Gilbert and Gordon's issues. Everything is about character. Sure, we should always assume innocent until proven guilty but, the very fact that this accusation and video tape as well as the lady's dental bill/hospital bill makes this an issue. AND, as Vers said...he was a known issue before this incident. It seems odd to me they would take a leap on a guy of his character when compared to the outstanding character and gentlemen of Garrett or Ogunjobi.

All of that said...this questionable pick aside I love our draft!

To me it is about risk/reward.

You take a high second round talent in round 6. A fairly high percentage of 2nd rounders go on to have fine NFL careers. A high percentage of 6th round picks get cut before they ever have a NFL career. Very few go on to play over 3-4 years at more than being a special team guy for a few seasons.

If we cut him, we selected him in a round where the player was probably going to get cut anyway.

So the chick offered on two occasions to drop the charges for a monetary settlement. Two witnesses say she propositioned him for sex earlier and he turned her down, her witnesses are her friends, his witnesses are the bar owner and security.

Sounds to me like someone is looking for a pay day. If he had slept with her , she probably would have claimed rape.

This, with the security guard's account mentioned previously - maybe we made an educated gamble and this kid did nothing wrong, therefore resulting in one of the biggest steals in the draft perhaps?

IDK, usually fairy tale endings like that don't occur here, but boy, it would be awesome if the tides turn.

The woman and her friends also claim that Brantley punched her and that she was knocked unconscious and lost a tooth but it is being reported that the night club has video showing her leaving shortly after the incident like nothing happened.

he's a guy carrying baggage.. Probably, (according to those that know) he's a round 1 or 2 pick without the baggage.

If he's cleared (big if), we stole him, if not, we spent a 6th round pick on a guy that won't be around. Generally, how often to 6th round picks make a team. (a team with talent that is)

They took a risk, if it pans out, we got a talented guy, if it doesn't, Oh well. Not the end of the world.
