I look around and see it differently. This particular Forum is smoking hot! Flames shooting to the roof on almost every Thread!

Yea sometimes it gets funny, sometimes silly, sometimes very informative and sometimes its all out war.

So I disagree with your opinion of these Boards and suggest you consider taking a hike, sir. brownie

We might have to unite on this one 40... We don't need interlopers in our fights.

And how did I get lumped into this with you two and not Swish? Interesting... hmmm.

This board was destroyed the moment it was made. At least in EE there was a fake pretense where people listened to each other. This forum is only here so people can troll.

Yeah, and that was with a much more volatile sun and an earth with a <20 degree axis. Pretty scary.

Can't even read a chart correctly.

What would an orbital axis difference of 18 degrees and a larger and more volatile sun make? 40 sure can't tell you rofl

So, THAT's why the earth has warmed and cooled pretty consistently over the 375,000 years the chart shows, but these last 50 years matter more?

Yes, the last 50 years of human existence matters so much more than the time period before humans. Especially when you're talking about the viability for humans. Humans have only lived in one age where it was warmer than this and the climate dried up the Sahara forest and humans began emigrating out of Africa. Sounds like a good analogy alrleady. Second, you see a "consistent climate", but don't take in the factors that add into that climate. If the Earth's axis is at 10 degrees, then winters and summers are fairly consistent year round for everyone. At 24 degrees, we see the weather that we currently see at that is our axis now. Also, the Earth did not have natural shade like we do today. Fauna and cloud coverage were not like they are today. Our albedo was about .3 globally and I'm being kind.

We have half a century worth of data that points to global warming and that data only gets larger and larger by the day. How much science will need to happen before people "get it"?

We have just how much data proving that for thousands of years the earth has warmed and cooled without the help of man. Why is it you want to ignore that and only worry about 50 years? If man kind were wiped out by a virus next year do you think the earths climate wouldn't continue to change?

Who said anything about ignoring it? It's actually provided a great baseline to see that we're causing global warming. The Earth has never warmed so quickly than it has in the past 50 years and we also know that CO2 has never been higher in our atmosphere.

We also can see that temperature increases are correlated to CO2.

Look at the rate of change in the temperature.

(This is from 1999)

So the Earth has never been warmer in human recorded history or since the Earth had a stable revolution around the sun.

Still think CO2 has nothing to do with?

IMO Population growth would effect things more than anything else

It is and it does, orbital dynamics of Earth. Mainly precession and obliquity, natural variations of the earth's orbit around the sun. Resulting in roughly 15,000 year interglacial periods.

For the most part, the only people happy about pulling out of the Paris Climate agreement, are among the original subset population of humanity I brought up. Which by no means is a representative sample of planet Earth.

That subset population, is happy for now. They are happy now because oil and coal companies have a vested interest in their bottom line, as we all do.

Just like the Spider-Man quote, "with great power comes great responsibility"
Until we "Americans" speak for all of humanity, we continue to spin our tires in a self righteous manner.

The only disagreement with that map I have is the lack of dark red around coastal Florida. I'm thinking Miami will have serious flooding issues well before 2050. Miami will become the new Venice.

Interesting though

I am pretty familiar with Florida. Most of Miami is less that 4' above sea level. They are surrounded by the Glades, which might be a foot or two high at best.....maybe 8". It's a slow flow from Okeechobee to the ocean....maybe a inch a mile.

At one time Key West was connected by a land bridge. Now it is a series of keys.

http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20170403-miamis-fight-against-sea-level-rise

It explains the ocean tides rising that's causing major road flooding in Miami.

But yeah, waiting until they're under water to admit there's a problem sounds like a solution.

DC appeals court orders EPA to move ahead with methane rule

https://www.yahoo.com/news/dc-appeals-court-orders-epa-move-ahead-methane-201039654--politics.html

i don't understand why this would be an issue. why wouldn't the EPA want to make sure we reduce methane leaks?

i mean i understand why this clown doesn't want to do it, i just don't understand why the people voted for a president who doesn't give two craps about taking care of our planet.

I just read thru this entire thread....its an example why nothing gets done in DC! 99% is belittling the other side instead of talking about facts.

Here's the truth; Some years it's hot, some years its cold. Lets spend a trillion dollars a year figuring out why...what a waste! Keep arguing over this nonsense.

What are you doing, man? Did you seriously just post the all time temps in a crappy format just for the city of Cleveland? You do realize the world is bigger than Cleveland, right? You also realize that Cleveland is next to a large body of water, right? You know that the water absorbs a lot of heat, right? Right? What are you doing?

Research any city in the world man and quit with your BS excuses! So in your mind Cleveland is not affected by this farce global warming? Wow, Lake Erie doesn't allow the temperature to rise in Cleveland....that is the lamest excuse I've ever heard.

I know the liberals fail to think on their own, my fault for giving you an idea to bolster your position!

Here's a thought, everybody move to Cleveland it's safe from global warming!

So handpicking random cities instead of taking a global average is the best way to see if global warming exists? When did you begin failing math?

This is why I don't argue with the Cons anymore about global warming. How can you have a conversation based in science and math with people who don't understand science and math?

Over 31,000 scientists signed the OISM Petition Project
The Petition Project features over 31,000 scientists signing the petition stating "there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide will, in the forseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere". (OISM)
There are several claims that large numbers of scientists do not agree with the theory of climate change, the best known of which is a petition organised by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (the OISM petition). This petition now appears to be signed by over 32,000 people with a BSc or higher qualification.
