The Cleveland Browns have signed LB Deon King and WR Richard Mullaney. To make room on the roster, the team waived DL Nile Lawrence-Stample with a failed physical designation. King is 6-0, 220 pounds and in his second NFL season out of Norfolk State. Originally signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent, King appeared in six games last season with the Colts (four) and Chargers (two). He led all of NCAA Division I in total tackles (163) and tackles per game (14.8) and was the winner of the 2015 Buck Buchanan Award as the nation's top FCS defensive player. He is a native of Reston, Va. Mullaney is 6-2, 204 pounds and officially a first-year player out of Alabama. Originally signed by the Texans as an undrafted free agent last year, Mullaney also spent time with the Cowboys during training camp in 2016. He spent three years at Oregon State before spending his final collegiate season as Alabama, where he recorded 38 receptions for 390 yards and five touchdowns. He is a native of Valencia, Calif. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...dd-2d5798e73b1d

I love their oranges. I would have thought that any LB we added would be an ILB type, but 6' flat, 220 seems a little slight to play in the middle. Just pulled up a scouting report on Mullany, and he is slow, slower, slowest. 4.67 to 4.82 40.

Valencia oranges are named after Valencia, Spain. They were developed in Santa Ana, California. (When you are born and raised in Southern California, you learn things about oranges.) Valencia is home to Six Flags Magic Mountain though.

The Jets cut Eric Decker. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19578246/new-york-jets-cut-eric-decker-trade-talksBasically any non-washed up veteran receiver will be an upgrade over we currently have. I'd like to have Decker, but it doesn't seem like bringing a veteran guy is in the plans. We are sinking or swimming with Payton, Louis, and Higgins.

I agree. It's not like it is critical to our success to fill that last roster spot when you are talking what? 90 players?
Maybe there is someone we might want to sign? Why sign a guy for a week or so, get his hopes up, pay his way to Cleveland, then cut him a week later to pay his way back home?

We should be all up in this... matter of fact, we should be so much up in it, that we're borderline a sexual harassment lawsuit. Get Decker Sashi. Now!

Rolling w/the young WRs sounds real good to some, but I don't know how great it is for our young quarterbacks. Having a dependable target who can run precise routes would have been huge for helping our quarterbacks.

Yeah I was on board with maclin but I get the feeling he wasn't down with playing for Cleveland at this time. Or maybe the Browns didn't pursue it hard.

Reality, reason, and logic aren't real big w/many of you. Is there anything in particular you'd put the effort in to pointing out to support this accusation? The reply was to bugs after he and I bounced a couple replies back and forth so I imagine I'm included with "many of you".

We are sinking or swimming with Payton, Louis, and Higgins. It looks as though the front office is playing both sides of the coin...
The analytics side brought us the 4 wrs drafted in 2016..Coleman, Louis, Higgins and Payton.
The failure to sign the Browns best wr lead to a quick turn to free agency, signing Britt. Maclin's availability exposed the fact the Browns have enough concern about the present WR position to look into the possibility of signing Maclin.

Heck our WR core is so weak and it's extremely dependent upon CC, Louis, Higgins, and Payton.
Heck if Heyward Bey gets cut from the Steelers, He would be an improvement. He does superb work on special teams and would zoom past the WRs we have in special teams, and is a good depth guy even with those iffy hands.
Honestly after Britt...we have a ton of question marks

Hey, a football post!!!!
I was hoping we would sign Maclin. Now, I am hoping we sign Decker.
Heyward Bey has been a huge disappointment in the NFL, but you are right that he is a good special teams player and his speed allows him to catch deep passes. I agree w/you that he would provide some help to the unit that is looking poor at this time.

Have they looked poor, or do we think they are poor?
I really haven't seen anything on them one way or the other.
Not fighting here, just haven't seen much in the way of film or written words on the receivers at this point....at least other than Coleman being injured.

I thought they looked poor last year. I understand that one year does not define a career and they might make tremendous strides. I just wouldn't count on that.

I agree w/you that he would provide some help to the unit that is looking poor at this time. Heyward-Bey was way over drafted coming out of Maryland. I remember the shock in the draft when he went as high as he did. Somebody fell in love with something, I guess it was his speed, but he was a very good but not great WR at Maryland. His career trajectory has gone about as I would have expected it to coming out of college.

Al Davis drafted the fastest WR in the draft in the top half of the first round.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

view older Eric Decker - WR - Free Agent
Free agent WR Eric Decker is visiting the Titans on Wednesday.
Twitter user @fhnixon broke the news first, and ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed it. It's Decker's first visit since he was cut by the Jets on Monday. The Titans have made it a point to overhaul their receiving corps this offseason, already adding first- and third-rounders Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor. Decker would give Marcus Mariota another big inside presence to go with Delanie Walker. It's worth noting Decker's wife is a country singer and the couple has a home in Nashville.

Seems like a good landing spot for him and her since they already have a home there.

Yeah guys trust me I'm no Heyward Bey fan nor pimp lol like someone stated he was severely overly drafted with that 4.2-4.3 speed and the upside to what that brings...He however has carved out a role in the league and has become a special teams gem and solid depth guy with the occasional flair play...More or less it's a measure of how he may get cut because of the numbers game in Pitt...and how lowly our reserve and depth WRs out...like I said as bad as Heyward Bey is, he would push for a position as a starter in our trio packages. He would come dirt cheap too as I think he makes 900k a year (of the top of my head)
ODD thing is when we drafted Richardo Louis I always saw him as a Heyward Bey clone...great straight line speed, similar size, and absolutely raw and weak in all the other aspects (hands, route running, etc)
I would love to have had Maclin..Decker wouldn't be bad...but it seems to me this organization fails to ever really try hard to pursue big names whom slip through the crack.
In all honesty I really hope we help those young QBs by giving them much needed weapons to aid their growth..
With what we have at WR...It is more than likely to stunt our QBs growth.

I loved Nashville when I was there for my consultation, surgery, and follow-up. I don't even like country music, but man, the live performances were awesome. One more thing about Nashville. They are home to Vanderbilt University and the school's medical facilities. They also have the best surgeon in the world the greatest ENT-otolaryngologist in the entire world.........Dr. James Netterville!!!!

Eric Decker - WR - Free Agent
MMQB's Albert Breer floats the Browns as a team to "keep an eye on" for free agent Eric Decker.
Decker left his Titans visit without a contract, while the Ravens seem resigned to not entering the bidding despite initial interest. In Cleveland, Decker would man the slot with Corey Coleman and Kenny Britt bookending him out wide. Cleveland would be one of Decker's worst-case fantasy landing spots.

hmm, that would kinda be out of the blue IMO
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I'm wondering if Browns are driving the price up keeping Decker away from Baltimore. This idea is hard to prove.
Tenn would be more likely to up the ante. Does anyone know who is Decker's agent? Curious whether there are any ties linked to current players on the roster. Sashi could be helping here to make things smoother elsewhere. Again another speculative on my part.

Eric Decker - WR - Titans Titans signed WR Eric Decker, formerly of the Jets, to a one-year contract.
The Jets continued their roster purge by dumping Decker last week. After fielding a relatively weak group last season, the Titans have beefed up their receiving corps this offseason by selecting Western Michigan standout Corey Davis with the fifth overall pick and now by scooping up Decker. Hip and shoulder issues limited Decker to just three games in 2016 but he's now at full health and should give Marcus Mariota another big body to throw to inside the red zone. The Titans are suddenly flush with pass-catchers with Decker, Davis, Rishard Matthews and Delanie Walker all slated for important roles.

Former Browns CB Tramon Williams wanted his release last season https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2017/6/18/...ase-last-seasonThis past Friday, former Cleveland Browns cornerback Tramon Williams was a guest on SiriusXM NFL Radio. If you recall, the team released Williams back in February as he was entering the final year of his contract with the team. I was surprised that Williams was one of the few players on defense who wasn’t part of the team’s veteran purge last offseason, when the Browns said goodbye to Donte Whitner, Paul Kruger, and Karlos Dansby. Williams acknowledged the fact that amidst the team’s 1-15 season, he wishes he could’ve been released last season too:
“From the start of training camp to the beginning of the season, they were going in a different direction. And it came a point during the season to where I wanted to be released. That’s why we got released because it wasn’t a stable spot. It’s not a stable spot. You don’t know who’s going to be the coaches from year to year, and I didn’t know that so I didn’t want to be one of those veterans who is stuck in a spot and at the end of the day, I’m not going to be able to get a job because I was on a bad team. That’s why I wanted to get out of there.”Williams did go on to thank Cleveland for releasing him as soon as they did this offseason so that he could fairly test the market. Even though he hasn't signed with anyone yet, Williams has "high hopes of landing somewhere before the start of the season." There is no doubt that Williams did not live up to expectations in his two years with the Browns. I can’t fault his response of wanting to be released last season; he’s a veteran who was used to winning in Green Bay, and knows he doesn’t have much time left in his career. But, he chose the Browns in the first place, and the fact that he didn’t turn in overly positive seasons leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Teams will sign good players from bad teams. Look at all of the former Browns players from the past few years who are, or have been, with good teams all around the NFL.
