don't create your own narrative. you better actually listen to what Comey said.
Yet, you do create your own narrative.
We'll see. This certainly isn't over, at all.
how? i said exactly what Comey said. people are trying to claim victory for trump, yet forget the reason why Comey leaked his memo's:
to appoint a special counselor to look into obstruction of justice.
and Trump did say he fired Comey over the "russia" thing. that's not my narrative, that's THE narrative.
Comey definitely was scorned over the way he was fired. and i get it, you gotta find out on TV you were fired?

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
Well Duh! The whole point being....The Media made a big deal out of Trump saying he wasn't under investigation...Even going as far as saying he lied because "sources inside the FBI Said" Which turned out to be false. Of course he could be under investigation in the future, anybody could be. The media got caught lying and making up stories and Trump should sue 'em.
Now you know where fakes news comes from. I think Trump has it right, they just make up stuff as they go along, there is no source, just made up stories.

It's funny that you don't seem to mention all of the things the media got right about this. lol
The only thing we really know is that Trump was right about Comey telling him he wasn't under investigation "then". After everything that's been disclosed since "then", we have no idea whether he's under under investigation "now".
And arch, we have no idea what evidence they do or do not have now. What we do know is the investigation is continuing and that they won't reveal what they have found until it's over.
And while I'm at it, a leak is only a crime if it's classified information. So before anyone goes down that road you need to remember that some leaks are fine and some are criminal. Comey did nothing illegal leaking what he did.

i'm impressed he didn't tweet, even though Trump Jr certainly picked up the slack.

Not mention all the things they got right??? Name one..... I'll wait.......All they have is just guessing. I don't think they even got one headline right.....Read the headline and it's not even close to the story you read about. All hype. They treated Manson better than they do Trump. Show me the proof that he's guilty of anything at all?? It's all media driven. They make it up as it goes. Sources? They don't need sources, they just make it up. Did I mention the Media is a fraud?

So whatever happened to President Trump stopping the testimony??
The way the media told the "story"...wink,wink. It was just a matter of time before Trump would stop him. No wonder the term "fake news" is out there. Their just a bunch of Liars.

Here's one of my posts from earlier in the thread:
Quote:
If there was a reasonable basis to think that Trump might invoke executive privilege to stop Comey from testifying, sure. This whole thing is based on Kellyanne Conway saying that the President will make the decision-- a perfectly reasonable response, and this is after she said that they will watch the testimony along with everybody else.
So of course we get a thread title saying that Trump may invoke executive privilege with a thinly veiled reference to being guilty. Ok then.
That is literally it. Conway said that Trump's team would watch Comey's testimony with the rest of it, and when pressed, deferred and said the President would make the decision.
Fake news media made it out to be much more than it really was, and Rocket got duped. It's ok. It happens to the best of us.
He contemplated it, according to Conway, but reason took hold.
Now to explain why he fired Comey if he's innocent...?
He had lost the confidence of both parties and most Americans who follow this stuff. He had to go at some point, even if the timing probably wasn't ideal.
I still think he kind of got caught in the political crossfire (don't forget all the Democrats who demanded he be fired over the months.)
We went further about this in educational psychology. Kids who want attention, especially those who knew they made a poor choice, act out even more for attention.

It's 2 AM and I woke up for no particular reason like I often do, flipped on CNN to hear them talking about the Comey hearing. Republican spin is that this is a great victory for Trump. They had a bunch of 40-like Trumpians sitting in a podunk Ohio bar like a jury... 12 out of 12 raised their hand when asked if they felt better about Trump after today.
Comey has somehow been transformed into a political being and is being demonized by these same supporters.
I know we are divided, I know we have differing views, but how can we have such extremely different takes on this hearing? This is mind boggling to me.
I have to give Trump credit though, he sure knows how to win over the hearts and minds of people. As a person I don't really care for him but harbor no ill wishes. At times I even pity him for how stupid and completely sad he is in his constant need for social approval.
But I think he is absolutely right when he said he could shoot someone in the street and get away with it. He could shoot a new born baby and somehow his followers would justify it by feeling that the baby had to go and Trump made the hard decision and justifiably took the hard action.

When the one Intelligence(I am using that term loosely) members said it boils down to who do we believe Comey or Trump I had to laugh IMO neither one should be trusted. Of course nobody on the Senate UNIntelligence Committee should be trusted either.
As far as Trump saying "I hope you can let this go" What did anybody expect him to "I hope you fry the ^$#&^%$^#"
I thought Comey sounded like a Broken record and I wanted to reach through the TV screen and slap him every time he said "Not a question I can answer in an open setting"
I laughed at Paul Ryan's response to Comey's testimony.
"The president is new at this, still learning"
Didn't I hear non stop whining about obama's perceived lack of experience, but now Trump gets a pass on acting like some Italian mob boss?
What happened to conservatives and accountability? The bootstrap mentality?
I guess none of that applies anymore.

We can all argue back and forth, but at this moment, it's he said, he said.
Depending on one's political bent, you have an opinion that one or the other is lying.
In the end, until the special counsel concludes investigation, this is a story that will linger over the head of Trump. Comey is a private citizen now and in all honesty, probably only did this because Trump said he was a showboat, lied about his leadership at the FBI being in question and that the FBI was in Disarray.
Comey, is no showboat, at least I don't see it, McCabe said that the FBI not having trust in Comey wasn't accurate and that the FBI wasn't and isn't in Disarray.
So yeah, Trump lied. There is absolutely nothing new about Trump lying.
Up for debate is the content of the discussions between Trump and Comey, unless Trump has tapes, remain a he said he said kinda thing.
My guess is that if there were tapes that showed something other than what Comey reported (or put Trump in a bad light), Trump would bring those out super fast. So, either they exist and prove Comey didn't lie, or they don't exist.
Take your pick, but remember, Trump brought it up.
Oh, and the leaking thing, that's something that I think will turn out to be a red herring.. What's worse, he's being accused of leaking from the leaker and chief.

Here's where the humor lies. Congress, the senate, the FBI and a special counsel are all investigating Russian hacking and the fact the several in Trumps circle had meetings with the Russians a total of 18n times that we know of to date. Yet during the vetting process where they are required to disclose this, they ALL refused to disclose it.
Yet some posters want to pretend that all of these investigations are going on as some kind of witch hunt. While Congress and the Senate are controlled by the GOP.
The president told Comey many times that he looked forward to working with Comey on multiple occasions then turned around and fired him once he wouldn't go along with "lifting the cloud". Trump then told the Russians this should ease up the Russian investigation and that Comey was a nut job.
Some of you act like this is nothing. Of course Trump made his inner circle leave so he and Comey were all alone so he could just engage in some friendly banter.
Most of you really aren't that stupid.

You want Trump to give sworn Testimony in front of the Senate Intel Committee? lmao They would eat his lunch! He can't keep his story the same for more than 5 minutes. So this will never happen unless he is impeached.
i was wondering why reality TV was starting to decline.
then i remembered: it's not that people are watching less reality TV, it's that they simply changed their source.
who needs the Kardashians when you have washington DC? this has officially gone into "he said, she said" territory. the government as a whole should be absolutely embarrassed right now with themselves, and i wouldn't be opposed to kicking every last one of them out of government and putting in new people.
Trump: I would ‘100 percent’ be willing to testify about Comey under oath
WASHINGTON — President Trump said Friday he would “100 percent” be willing to testify under oath about allegations that he asked former FBI Director James Comey to ease up an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
At a joint press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Trump reiterated that he felt vindicated by Comey’s testimony before a Senate committee yesterday but also said that Comey lied in characterizing conversations between the two.
Among his disagreements with Comey, Trump said he never asked Comey for an oath of loyalty.
“I didn’t say that,” Trump said Friday. “I’m going to tell you, I didn’t say that. And there would be nothing wrong with it if I did say that, according to everybody that I’ve talked to today. But I didn’t say that.”
Comey testified Thursday that Trump told him “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty” during a White House dinner, before saying that Flynn is a “good guy” and that Comey should “let this go.”
Standing next to the Romanian president, Trump argued that it wouldn’t have made sense to demand Comey’s loyalty.
“I hardly know the man, I’m not going to say, ‘I want you to pledge allegiance’,” Trump said. “Who would do that? Who would ask a man to pledge allegiance under oath. Think of it, I hardly know the man. It doesn’t make sense.”
Trump also said Friday he would “be glad” to meet with special counsel Robert Mueller to tell his version of the conversations with Comey. After Trump fired Comey, the Justice Department appointed Mueller, also a former FBI director, to oversee the investigation into whether Russia coordinated with Trump campaign associates during the 2016 election.
Earlier in the press conference, however, Trump said that Comey’s testimony supported his assertion that he did not act improperly.
Comey “confirmed a lot of what I said” even though “some of the things that he said just weren’t true.” In his caustic testimony, Comey accused the Trump administration of spreading lies, though he acknowledged telling Trump that he wasn’t personally under investigation.
“No collusion. No obstruction,” Trump said Friday. “He’s a leaker, but we want to get back to running our great country. … Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction.”
Trump also appeared to deny the existence of tapes of his conversations with Comey, saying the media would be “very disappointed,” but that the administration would be discussing the issue soon.

Dan Rather 5 hrs · As with many of my fellow Americans, I don't consider myself partisan politically - never have. I am a registered independent voter and have been for most of my life. With that in mind, I submit the following:
Can we please get this out of the way? None of what is happening at the top of government now is normal. None of it. And no one should normalize it. No one.
We have a President who lies without a second thought. Big bold lies that are easily disproven. That is not normal.
We have serious allegations around obstruction of justice by that President. That is not normal.
We have an FBI director fired for insisting to continue pursuing a serious investigation into the sanctify of our republic. It has never happened before in our history. That is not normal.
We have a hostile foreign power attacking and undermining our electoral process. That is not normal.
We have an Attorney General under a serious shadow of association with said foreign power, with indications that there is much more to this story than we yet know. That is not normal.
We have Federal judges, our closest foreign allies, and the free press under scurrilous attack from the President and his enablers. At the same time we have despots praised. That is not normal.
We have an Administration fanning the flames of division over race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, and gender. That is not normal.
We have an overhaul of our entire health care system being written in secret on a rapid time frame. That is not normal.
We have a sordid confluence of the President's business interests and his political power. That is not normal.
The list could go on and on. And feel free to add your own to the comments section.
What concerns me even more than any of these items is the fact that they are largely being met by a shrug or excuses from most Republican elected officials. Even many Democrats seem overwhelmed and are inclined to let some of this just ride. That may be how politics works. But this is bigger. It's about our nation.
We are shifting the goalposts for our democracy. We are failing to be outraged by the outrageous because there is something even more outrageous that always seems to hit the news cycle. And that is dangerous.
What gives me hope is we have had waves of abnormality in our country's history. And we've had times when what we would consider now to be not normal, like segregation, was considered normal. What has centered and saved our country time and again is civic engagement. I believe that most people in this nation don't think any of this is normal. And they could very well vote out those elected officials in both parties who are normalizing these outrages.
I look forward to Trump's testimony under oath. He said it, after all.

Yes, you guys go on believing anything Dan Rather has to say as he was basically fired by CBS for presenting forged documents against President Bush and his service in the National Guard! Remember RatherGate? Thought not.
-The Killian documents controversy (also referred to as Memogate or Rathergate) involved six purported documents critical of U.S. President George W. Bush's service in the Air National Guard in 1972–73. Four of these documents[1] were presented as authentic in a 60 Minutes II broadcast aired by CBS on September 8, 2004, less than two months before the 2004 Presidential Election, but it was later found that CBS had failed to authenticate the documents.[2][3][4] Subsequently, several typewriter and typography experts concluded the documents were forgeries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killian_documents_controversy
