Supreme Court allows Trump's travel ban to take partial effect Foreigners with 'credible' ties to U.S. will be immune from visa and refugee bans, for now. The high court's action Monday means parts of the order Trump re-issued in March will go into effect until the justices decide on the legality of the measure. The justices called for arguments on the travel ban during the court's first session in October. Trump seems likely to claim victory in the Supreme Court's action because the order appears to recognize the president's broad authority to limit travel to the United States by those with no direct ties. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/06/26...e-effect-239956

In other News of taking our Country back... Supreme Court rules for Missouri church in dispute over public funding accessThe U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled in favor of a Missouri church that sued the state after being denied taxpayer funds for a playground project because of a provision that prohibits state funding for religious entities. The ruling was 7-2. The case, one of the most closely watched of the term, pitted two parts of the First Amendment against one another – freedom of religion and separation of church and state. The dispute involved Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia, Mo., and the state of Missouri. In 2012, the state launched an initiative to encourage schools to use recycled tires to produce softer playground surfaces. Trinity, which runs a preschool, was denied a state grant to participate in the program -- and lawyers for Trinity argued the state discriminated against the school based on religion. Chief Justice John Roberts agreed. “The exclusion of Trinity Lutheran from a public benefit for which it is otherwise qualified, solely because it is a church, is odious to our Constitution all the same, and cannot stand,” Roberts wrote. During oral arguments in April, Justice Elana Kagan also questioned the church's exclusion. "You're denying one set of actors from competing [for the grant money] because of religion," Kagan said. She called it a "clear burden on a constitutional right." Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a strong dissent – and said Monday’s decision “profoundly changes” the relationship between church and state. Sotomayor, who read a portion of her dissent from the bench, said the ruling “slights both our precedents and our history, and its reasoning weakens this country’s longstanding commitment to a separation of church and state beneficial to both.” The state program gives grants to nonprofits seeking a safer recreational environment for children. But Missouri's law at the time -- similar to those in roughly three-dozen other states – prohibited direct government aid to educational institutions that have a religious affiliation. James Layton, Missouri’s former solicitor general, said Trinity Lutheran "remains free, without any public subsidy, to worship, teach, pray, and practice any other aspect of its faith however it wishes. The state merely declines to offer financial support." He argued that while the Constitution prevents the government from discriminating against religion, “it does not guarantee churches opportunities for public financing.” Since then, Republican Gov. Eric Greitens has changed the state policy to allow religious institutions to participate in the program but Monday’s opinion could have an impact on other cases. The Supreme Court accepted the church's petition for review back in January 2016, when Justice Antonin Scalia was still the senior conservative. His death a month later kept the case on hold, possibly because the eight justices believed they would ultimately tie. Maureen Ferguson, senior policy advisor with The Catholic Association, called the ruling “a significant victory for fairness and government neutrality towards religious institutions.” “The Supreme Court is sharply signaling in this decision that the government must stop its growing hostility towards religion and religious institutions, and that antiquated and anti-Catholic Blaine Amendments should not be used as a weapon to discriminate against people of faith.” http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/06/...ing-access.html

The new bill says that people who have lacked insurance coverage for 63 days or more must wait six months before reentering the marketplace. So don't let your insurance lapse. Be responsible. Call a Conservative if you can't comprehend being responsible.

Supreme Court sides with same-sex couples in Arkansas suit https://www.yahoo.com/news/supreme-court...--politics.htmlWASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has ruled for same-sex couples who complained an Arkansas birth certificate law discriminated against them. The justices on Monday issued an unsigned opinion reversing an Arkansas high court ruling that upheld the law. Under the law, married lesbian couples had to get a court order to have both spouses listed as parents on their children's birth certificates. Arkansas routinely lists a woman's husband as a child's father, even if he is not the biological parent of the child. The same-sex couples want the same presumption applied to the married partner of a woman who gives birth to a child. Justices Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented from the ruling.

hilarious. Stop. Obama created a failing Boondoggle and you cry as the Republicans try to save at least something to help the American people. Republicans are not known for their great welfare programs but at least they are trying to give us something with Healthcare. I would have repealed the boondoggle and been done. You want insurance, call the insurance company, not your government. But Trump has them trying so the snowflakes don't completely melt.

we should be going forward, not backwards.
forward means single payer. you want to go backwards, leaving millions uncovered.
i rather be referred to as a snowflake than a heartless anti-life human being.

nah. unlike you, i have a problem with millions being uncovered. healthcare and lives should never be determined by a "market", especially an industry that relies on people staying sick as long as possible for profits.

how is having a single payer system turning the country in a socialist one?
are you that ignorant to the fact that we have so many socialist programs already in this country for decades now, including ones implemented by conservatives?
educate yourself. i know trump loves the uneducated, but cut it out with the sheep mentality already.

Statement from President Donald J. Trump Today's unanimous Supreme Court decision is a clear victory for our national security. It allows the travel suspension for the six terror-prone countries and the refugee suspension to become largely effective. As President, I cannot allow people into our country who want to do us harm. I want people who can love the United States and all of its citizens, and who will be hardworking and productive. My number one responsibility as Commander in Chief is to keep the American people safe. Today's ruling allows me to use an important tool for protecting our Nation's homeland. I am also particularly gratified that the Supreme Court’s decision was 9-0.

Yes... the law is as clear as it ever gets in this regard. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1182(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

CBO: Senate health bill leads to 22 million fewer insured Americans by 2026 https://www.yahoo.com/news/cbo-senate-he...-203849902.htmlThis bill is appalling, disgusting, embarrassing, unamerican, and anti-life.

I am also particularly gratified that the Supreme Court’s decision was 9-0. The way I read this is that the SCOTUS basically lifted the restraining order (in part) based on the constitutional powers of the POTUS until they have had time to hear arguments and adjudicate the constitutional legality of Trumps order version 2.0. This is a victory for Trump and his legal team, that's for sure. It may go either way after hearing arguments, but I never expected them to partially overturn the lower court at all, let alone 9-0.

One year anniversary: https://www.dawgtalkers.net/ubbthreads.ph...dom#Post1127491I try so hard to be tolerant of all religion and lifestyles. Islam and the Muslims are by far one of my biggest struggles in this respect. I am sorry world but I struggle to see a logical answer to coexistence with a people and/or religion that is so divisive. The video Huas posted reinforces that for me.
I absolutely do not want a Trump like ban on all Muslims, but with that said, referring to the video Haus posted again, I do not want "those people" as my neighbors or living close to me and being in the lives of my family. How sad is that?
I am sure they are basically good people but our beliefs couldn't be any more different on most topics. How do I justify the risk that one of these people will act on their beliefs and possibly hurt somebody that I love? How do I justify my desire to not have these people in my life?
I can't simply hate a person based on their religion. I don't really fear them. BUT I DO FEAR THEIR BELIEFS.
This is a horrible thing to me. I don't want to hate, fear or loath anyone... But I find the very core of the religion disgusting and despise the radicals that act out on it. How am I supposed to deal with that as a person who doesn't want to feel this way? Have you changed your mind on this? Or are you so wrapped up in the whole resist at all costs thing that you have abandoned common sense?

I don't mean to show up OCD, and I apologize to him if that's how I came off as. I just get tired of reading about Americans who are shot, stabbed, or blown up for no reason at all: Tampa, Fresno, Fort Lauderdale, Columbus, St Cloud, New York, Orlando, San Bernardino, Chattanooga, Boston
When you see video of survivors, remember this: networks only show the people who walk out with cuts and bruises. They don't show the people who get their legs blown off, or their faces rearranged. And maybe that is for good reason.
In Europe: London, Manchester, Stockholm, St. Petersburg, London (again), Istanbul, Berlin, Ansbach, Nice, Brussels, Istanbul (again), Paris (multiple times)
When does it end? These are cities that have been attacked in the last few years and it is not even a comprehensive list. I'm tired of it.

It ends when we cut off all financial support from around the world to them. Then we start to corner 'em and kill every mothers son of them. That is the Trump plan and I like it.

Yet you never speak out against it. Chill with the fake outrage.

False.
Haus has repeatedly dodged questions and cherry pick what to respond to.

I has to be very difficult going through life for some of these guys were everything is seen through the lens of emotion. How I feel is the determining factor in Right vs Wrong, good vs evil. It explains a lot of what is going on in our crumbling society.

When they disagree with us, they are legislating from the bench.

And "corporations are people" is not an example of a conservative constitutional legislating from the bench?
Oh the irony. Give a corporation the rights of free speech but tax them differently!
